Also have to say, I sure hope that the New York 2 special is at least already far in production and wont be taking 2 more years to come out.
These specials have a place within the story and i mean ALL of them. Even if they are also written to be able to be watched on their own and some details mess with continuity.
I explicitly remember it having been said by Thomas Astruc that the Shanghai special was said to be the first, taking place between s2 and s3 (as its especially noticeable in how Gabriel treats Adrien which was still better at that point).
Then the New York special takes place between s3 and 4
And we all know that the Paris special takes place after Destruction in season 5 and London fills in some blanks of the time between Gabriel's wish and where the last episode then picked back up on.
They have their place in the story, and the more we get the more important it becomes to actually watch them in those places. The shows Story telling is getting tighter and that's GOOD.
I'd say the Shanghai special is the savest to watch whenever (especially because of the mistake of oversight with putting in dolls of the New York heros into the Shanghai special just because it aired later. That was stupid), but you're still better of watching it between s2 and 3.
But now here we have a cliffhanger in the SECOND special that's between s5 and 6 that says an even more important one is the direct follow up for this one.
And we have no idea when tf it'll come out. Im already speculating that in New York 2 Ladybug and Chat Noir will officially get their s6 suits, and Marinette at the end of the Tokyo special mentioned having an idea for changing her civilian clothes. So all of that is most likely gonna be established for good in New York 2.
But please someone explain to me what good all of this will do when the special only comes out in like 2 years or more? They are deliberately withholding information in the show proper because they rather want it to be shown in a big special they can do more things with and, yeah, that IS great actually. By itself, this is not a problem. At all.
Its the scheduling of these specials that are a nightmare. Im pretty sure only London and MAYBE New York were aired at the right time. But Shanghai was aired YEARS after s2 ended and Paris aired after s5 despite taking place during the beginning of said season.
And remember, we are STILL waiting for the Brazil special that's placed between s4 and 5. Yeah, thats a slot that's still open. I too assumed that it was cancelled and the open "between" slot was merely changed to be "during" for the Paris special in particular. But nah, there is a whole special missing for after s4 and we are still missing all of those information that may as well be changing a thing or two for season 5.
And mind you, season 4 officially ended in 2022. Thats 3 years ago. And its still not out.
I can only hope that whatever this important New York 2 special is, we are actually gonna get it some time soon and not in who knows how many years.
I'm holding onto hope because I dont remember us having gotten alot of information of the Paris special's existence before it came out either. Or at least, I personally dont remember it having been announced to be in production the way the London and Brazil specials were. For those I remember them talking about a spy character for London and a Butterfly themed hero for Brazil.
But Paris I remember coming kinda out of nowhere, so lets hope for New York 2 it'll be the same
(Although, now that i think about it. Somewhere in the back of my head I seem to vaguely remember something about a New York 2. But I dont know if that was anything legit or even real and im just crazy rn)
