Ya'll hating on Marinette for being a creepy stalker but forget Cat Noir relentlessly pursuing Ladybug despite her obvious rejections. Not saying ANY OF THEM ARE GOOD, it's just that a lot don't point out Cat Noir's stubbornness.

Can we agree when tikki speaks
Her voice sounds like a mouse on helium
Great voice actress no hate appreciate her, BUT MY GOD
Even when I look her name says it all😂
Love the show but wish it can treat the other characters better.
yeah marinette is a flawed protag and thats great in theory but idk if the narrative understands *why* shes flawed. same with adrien. it’s one thing to depict unhealthy behaviors and not directly condone them for the sake of subtle storytelling but i dont think thats what’s happening here. and because this is a kid’s show, the responsibility falls onto the narrative to point out unhealthy behaviors and the direct impacts it could have. because kid’s dont know better.
im all for “ppl should decide for themselves which fictional characters behaviors are acceptable and not every piece of media needs an overt moral” but i feel like a show aimed at elementary school kids, which sometimes does state a moral at the end of episodes, has less wiggle room. in some episodes where characters do wrong things i dont think the writers understand if or why those actions are wrong and if they do, they certainly don’t show it in the narrative. and since it’s a kids show, i think thats a bit irresponsible of them
what i would change about miraculous ladybug s3
I think the biggest problem with the season was the lack of progression. We had these two big moments of growth with Marinette in the S2 finale, feeling she’s incapable while fighting, and taking a chance by kissing Adrien on the cheek.
But after Chameleon, think just go back to the way they were. Marinette feeling inadequate only comes next in the S3 finale-she spent a whole season being incredibly competent and capable. Her doubts now come from her relationship with Adrien, which was GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION at the start of S3. There’s no cohesion in these two shifts.
So I think S3 should have been much more of a continuation of the consequences of Marinette’s character instead of ruining her in the chance that they would be able to redeem her in S4 (which watching the New York special, is 50/50)
Here are some plotlines I think would have worked better
Marinette and Adrien becoming closer as friends. After the S2 finale Adrien confesses his admiration of Marinette and calls him his “everyday Ladybug”. I wish we could have expanded on this, with Adrien appreciating Marinette and really seeing her through a new lens as she does nice things for people. He starts to trust her and try to spend more time with her outside of class. Marinette would still have awkward feelings, but it would work a lot like the “Gamer” episode, where she lets some of her Ladybug energy come out around him. She begins to feel more comfortable and herself around him knowing he does value her, as S2 confirmed many times.
Ladybug doubting herself. They could still include her overconfident moments, but make them clear that she is just trying to make up for all the turmoil she’s feeling internally by externally putting on the brave face. Her lashing out at Chat and claiming he’s inferior should be put in a negative light and her just trying to make herself feel better. After some of the battles, seeing her just let out a massive breath of relief and then look around to see if anyone noticed could add some layers to her actions. Or seeing her afterward in her room, covered in blankets trying to feel safe.
The midpoint would be like the S3 finale emotion-wise. Ladybug would have a breakdown in the middle of one of the battles and not know what to do and have to rely on Chat.
Chat starts to drift away from Ladybug as she refuses to reach out to him for help. He often asks her what’s wrong when she does show moments of weakness, but she always pushes him away or claims she’s fine. He gets sick of her always trying to hide from him because he wants a real connection with her as they’re maturing
This draws him even closer to Marinette, someone he sees as more open. There could be more Marichat balcony scenes, where they’re really candid about their feelings, and Adrien especially during the daytime starts to pay more attention to Marinette because of this
While Marinette likes the attention from Adrien, she knows something is wrong with Chat and realizes how important she is to him. After her breakdown in the midpoint, she starts to open up to him more, and she realizes he’s willing to listen without judgement. They slowly work together more to really become better friends
Ladybug still doesn’t have all her confidence back, but knowing she can rely on Chat makes the burden easier (this is something that bothered me a lot in S3, that she would make jokes or statements about his job is easier or not necessary and the narrative would prove her right)
As both Marinette and Adrien and Ladybug and Chat become closer, they have trouble dividing their time between each other, not realizing they’re the same people. This could be the main conflict for S4
All of this relationships and internal turmoil would be under the A Plot of defeating that week’s super villain ofc :)
Oh also no time travel. bc that was a terrible idea
If I had the energy or dedication, I would write a whole fanfic with this plot, but I honestly don’t care enough at this point. I just think the show was preaching a lot of unhealthy messages to kids on how people should treat each other and didn’t have enough of a linear storyline causing the events in the finale other than Kagami and Marinette’s friendship (which is the only thing in S3 that I would keep, it was done incredibly well, and it could still work in this as Marinette feeling too possessive over this newfound friendship and learning to let people into their circle because she doesn’t have ownership over Adrien)
What would you change about S3? Are there any fans out there who think it’s the best season? I’m pretty interested in finding out haha /gen
i was watching this video and thought of your blog @jacquesthepigeon
it's a concept for a rewrite of the mlb series and even though the youtuber did most of it on the fly it's already more comprehensive than the actual show lmao it's kinda long but an interesting watch for fans and critics of miraculous ladybug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4xt3f0srjQ
