Is anyone else getting the feeling that Mayura is being completely ignored in favour of redeeming Nathalie? Don’t get me wrong I’m ALL for Nathalie redemption, she is my favourite character after all. But it confuses me why nobody ever addresses the issue of Mayura, especially when she played such a fundamental role to the story.
To be honest, this problem has been there since her introduction. In Mayura Heroes Day part 2, Ladybug figures out that Hawkmoth has help from the wearer of the peacock miraculous. Yet, nobody conducts any sort of investigation into who this could be (but granted they also don’t investigate who Hawkmoth is apart from in The Collector).
But the problem properly begins in the later seasons.
For a quick summary of the things that Mayura has done and the heroes KNOW she’s done: be an accomplice for a criminal, become a criminal when she attacks civilians with Reflektdoll and the lollipop monster, revives an ancient sentimonster which leads to the revival of a temple that was destroyed hundreds of years ago (and is important narrative wise), steals a miraculous (and loses it), is the only villain to NOT have Ladybug and Chat noir turn up to stop her in the New York special (and interestingly, she recalls the amok rather than letting her senti cause more destruction), kills the Ladybug senti and steals the grimoire translation from Master Fu (again, a massively significant thing)
My girl has the most Ws on the villain team, and two of them actually have positive consequences. Yet how many of her actions are addressed in the show? NONE. It’s all “Hakwmoth/Shadowmoth/Monarch bad” but never “Mayura bad”. And yes, the public DO know about her. In the episode “Ladybug” she addresses a public broadcast as Mayura (“I am Mayura, and I am going to annihilate Ladybug”). I get that she hardly ever directly terrorised people and wasn’t really present to the public, but certainly to the heroes, she was present ENOUGH for concern.
When Gabriel started being “Shadowmoth”, why did nobody question what happened to Mayura? That’s a pretty valid question you know. Did they stop working together? If so, that means there’s a woman out there who could betray his identity. Did something happen to her? If so, what? We never get to see anyone question about Mayura, even though season 4 continues to acknowledge her as existing. In “Gabriel Agreste” we see Felix watching a video on the Ladyblog, which features a selfie of the two villains. When was this taken? When Mayura was still ill? Or did she and Hawkmoth have an offscreen public appearance after he became Shadowmoth? There’s no way the picture was taken in Miracle Queen, seeing as Alya was under Chloe’s influence, and Shadowmoth existed as soon as the peacock miraculous was fixed in Truth. So.. when was this? And the video actually mentions Shadowmoth rather than Hawkmoth and Mayura. (Although I do think the selfie was for funsies rather than of any plot significance, and Im glad we have it cause I love the Hawkyura selfie)
However, the Shadowmoth transition certainly isn’t the worst case of Mayura’s existence being outright ignored. I give them credit for Nathalie’s dying confession, and for the fact that she is willing to turn herself in. But, can we just acknowledge the fact that the only person who addresses the issue of Mayura is Mayura herself? I bet if Nathalie had never confessed to being Mayura, nobody would know. Why did nobody question what happened to Monarch’s accomplice after he died? Everyone knew he had an accomplice. It’s ok for the public not to question I guess, but the other heroes? They ABSOLUTELY should be questioning, ESPECIALLY Chat noir and Rena rouge. In fact, the ex Mayura should be the prime suspect for being the current holder of the butterfly miraculous. This should give them MORE motivation to track down Monarch’s ex partner.
And this would give us a fantastic character arc for Nathalie, and develop her in a really unique way. Shes trying to move on from villainy, and she’s trying her best to support her now son Adrien, but she keeps getting haunted by the idea that someone could find out that she was Mayura. Everyone is suspecting Mayura, and because she no longer has the peacock miraculous, she has no way of clearing her name. This would lead her to internally crash just like Marinette, and would create a pretty neat parallel of how the lie is affecting them (I HATE the lie plot, but I do think this would fit nicely with it). It’d also make sense why Nathalie reacts the way she does in Mister Agreste. Because if she’s currently being bombarded with articles theorising the old Mayura is responsible for these new akumas, and people maybe even theorising she has some involvement with Gabriel Agreste, she had every right to genuinely freak out at the idea of her identity being known and I wanna see that. I do like her redemption, and that she’s finally able to be mother Nathalie, BUT, I feel like her redemption will never truly be complete until Mayura is addressed in some way other than making Nathalie sick. Granted we get that tiny snippet in the London special, but it isn’t enough. We never explore her guilt about the whole thing and we never see her struggle with others suspicions that they SHOULD DEFINITELY HAVE.
But no.
She’s a good guy now so we can’t address the bad stuff she’s done.
Seems to be a pattern with peacock miraculous holders, don’t you think?
I hate the fact that Gabriel got what he want in the end that is being with his wife after everything he has done throughout the whole 5 seasons and the way he treats his son. And he treated like a hero and Chole who is 14 year old was getting close to being redeemed but it got thrown away and she was treated like a villain. Like what? Even chole dad got redeemed.
With the recent episode, I feel like I need to go on a rant.
I'm exhausted.
I feel like for me, this episode I think has cemeted to me that the writing, and the overall show is never going to get better. At least to me. I feel exhausted, I feel tired of hoping that one day the writers will get it together. I feel like no matter what they will continue to repeat the same mistakes over and over again and I've honestly had enough.
The fact that they gave Adrien a new power, 10 years into the show, 6 seasons and 4 specials. And this power isn't even for him.
It's for Ladybug.
The only reason he's given this power is so when later the whole world finds out the truth (including him) he'll use it to keep Marinette's secret. Because that's what it all boils down to.
Adrien is never going to be an actual character in his own show, he's just going to be Marinette's boyfriends, being Marinette's boyfriends is going to be his only character trait. The only one he had during seasons 1-5 was that he wanted to stand up to his father, and that he's gone he's nothing.
Alya so far is the only one who is actually having some common sense, who isn't treating Adrien like he's a baby, not a single person actually has the decency to tell him to truth, to have him have agency. They took that from him the second they made him a sentimonster and wrote him out of the Finale against HIS FATHER.
But sure, "How can we make this about Marinette?"
Hell the nearly 2 hour movies did far more for both Adrien and Marinette than a show that's been running for 10 YEARS has done.
I feel like this is how RWBY fans and Helluva boss fans feel, like you're hoping it will get better, and then it doesn't. I just don't know.
I feel like this season in particular is turning me into a Marinette anti which I don't want to be, I have my problems with Marinette (being a stalker) but this season isn't doing her any favours.
The whole lying about Gabriel is just one thing that is making it impossible to like her for what she's doing. And for the Marinette purists, don't come at me; You can't keep blaming Marinette's decisions on her trauma. You've got to accept the fact that characters need to be called out for their actions, Alya had every right to call her out on it.
I honestly don't really know if I want to continue watching really, this has really been quite a negative post so I'm sorry for that, I just really wanted to get it out there cause the whole thing's driving me crazy.
I really dislike when people think the people who want Adrien to know the truth are sadist.
Like, no. I want him to know because there would be no point in HM being his dad in the first place if he never gets to know, and it's not like the lie hurt him any less..
Miraculous Ladybug & Cat Noir VS MegaMan fully Charged Part 2
Part 1
so here comes another post of me making comparison between a French animated telenovela vs a failed game adaption cartoon. Lets go to characters
Protagonist
the thing that make a protagonist interesting are the mix between flaws and strength with their motivation being a driving force to progress the story, they can be a role model or a human that we can relate who we as the viewer want to root for.
Let's start with Marinette first.
As the Main protagonist of MLB, in her hero form she is Ladybug, a leader, a compassionate heroine and the creative and quick thinker of the wielder of the Ladybug Miraculous. As Marinette, she is an ordinary girl with extraordinary talents of multitasking and creative design with an eye of fashion. which was told in the show but we rarely see this talent used for the story but in some occasion, she can design, some are 'okay' like the Paris sunglasses, the movie prop for Nino indie film and her prom dress (tbh). But she can design great stuff like the album cover, her diary safety box (easily rip apart by super strength), the mask design for kitty section (a band name her ex is in) and her iconic feather bowl hat. She is also a very sweet and kind girl who can befriend about anyone who isn't evil.
she can babysit some real rowdy kids include Manon, Ella & Etta, and Chris, not only that she can handle one but all of them in one room.
she can make real bizarre plan but it somehow works except for some episodes, Heart hunter & Miracle queen (season 3 finale), New York spesial, Risk & Strikeback (season 4 finale [tbf she's under akuma influence and she didn't know Felix disguised as Adrien]) SEASON 5 FINALE & LONDON SPECIAL. (call me out if i'm wrong in this)
She almost sound like a perfectly good protagonist right ?
Let me list her almost crime here to everyone who knows what I'm talking about:
Stalking Adrien (she owns his schedule)
stealing phones (tbf one of the case she was trying to re-record a deleted rare footage, the other is to give her classmate a second chance on a proper class photo.)
go into Adrien house to secretly put a gift on his bed as Ladybug and SNIFF HIS PILLOW AND BED.
try to trespass the Agreste manor, some occasions are forgivable but going in cause another girl who likes your crush doesn't excuse that, even when said girl is evil, how would you know
try to kiss a wax statue of her crush (Adrien) who turns out is actually a living breathing Adrien (this is justified cause she thought it's just a wax statue but if she did kiss the statue it classified as property damage.
install a fake bathroom to expose her bully ( if you know the law then you know this is bad)
yeah out of context it's almost bad but im trying not be a salter but try to see it in an objective view.
Now lets see her flaws:
being too indecisive on her love life
rushing to a problem and making it worse
too jealous on any girls who try to get near Adrien
too forgiving to the wrong people
sometimes very hypocritical on her action and opinion
doing impulsive stuff almost borderline stalking
in a professional term, she can't hold back her own grudge or let her emotions gets the best of her even as Ladybug.
there are so much more I want to list it but we'll be here all day and this post will be about Marinette.
Lets move on to Aki
I'm gonna be blunt, like a force attack to the head blunt. Aki is generic, he is an anime protagonist boy generic just like any other protag cartoon boys exist in any cartoon from 1990-2000. He is an ordinary robot boy who likes comic, video games and can do sports but very exceptional in physical training, he is a dorky jock but never popular despite having a veteran scientist dad and being a robot. Which actually makes an interesting irony because robots are cold calculative machine so to have our protagonist being a robot boy in middle to high school with a personality far from what you expect from a robot living like human to a point you kinda forgot he is a robot until the show reminds us. This concept have been done a lot with Jenny from My life as a teenage robot but she doesn't look human like Aki. Therefor this suppose to make him unique in a world where sentient robot coexist with humans after a great world war between the two species, but with the show just being a 'kid show' we don't get to expand to that.
As Mega man, the hero of Silicon City. He is confident, helpful and kinda reckless. Stupidly reckless in a way a kid would as a beginner hero. But he is someone who is a passionate fighter, strong willed, and kind to others. Heck in an episode he purposefully HYPNOTIZED his enemy TO BE GOOD but it when wrong, the enemy only gets more mad and hurt at him and after defeating the enemy, he apologize.
He apologize
He apologize for his mistake. And the enemy sometimes accepted it.
Marinette apologize too but it just doesn't have an impact or even meaningful due to poor writing and bad character writing.
Lets see what is Aki's crime:
Hypnotize an unwilling enemy and many other people most he didn't know.
Helped an enemy due to believing they can get redemption
being rude due to personality malfuction
trespassing a construction site with the gut feeling something is wrong
beating up an emotional robot who just flooded the whole city
trying to cheat on a student election using his secret hero identity but later forfeit because he realize it's wrong
late for class due to giving a counter speech to a racist in a robot-hate rally
stalking his dad on his date with an enemy capable of mind control a whole school of people
participate in a pranking spree
At this point I'm showing favoritism but let me show you his biggest secret yet.
This is Aki, in War era. He is canonically a war machine and have a kill count. He was originally a war robot.
Heck even as Megaman he just blast robots but this only shown in the comic because as I said, the show is kid friendly. Compared to Marinette, the blood or oil in Aki's hand is just a leaking faucet and it haunts him everytime he remembered
yeah also in the comic mini was temporarily dead but don't worry he comes back.
These two protagonist have flaw, while Marinette flaws are obvious the show doesn't wanna point it as wrong but a justified thing, Aki's flaws are flaws and he always apologized and make amends to his mistakes just like in most episodes especially in episodes like "Drill of the hunt" and "to air is robot" show how he takes on the consequences and realize his mistakes. Unlike Marinette who as a fan of MLB we all know that the writer cannot make her takes the consequences or admit she is wrong.
Aki may be boring for a protagonist but I rather take a protagonist who knows when they're wrong and amends for it than a protagonist who can't make any wrongs and even if they do it won't be their fault because the writers said so.
Also a glaring difference is how they handle the big bad villain.
Both protagonist are the hit & run hero who he beats up the bad guy and wins. Ladybug gets the Akuma and purified it but barely gets a lead of who Hawkmoth is until the big finale of the show and although she got some clues and try to run with it, she mostly waste her time on romance, temporary holders/solutions, and too focus on the Akuma than Hawkmoth himself. Megaman do beat up robot masters but if they show a sign of redemption or wants to be an ally he rather takes it, sure he doesn't know who is Lord Obsidian until the last minutes of the show but despite all of that he still won by support of his family, his experience, and his will power of a strength.
another thing is that in narrative perspective, all story and morals surround and wrap on Ladybug as it try it's hardest to make it either convenient for her or make it hard for the purpose of teaching a moral that wouldn't be the consequences for her, everything have to revolve back to Marinette somehow and I hate it. while the Narrative on Aki is more focus on him because the show is still finding it's identity also it's still in introduction phase, making the audience be familiar with it's characters before jumping deep into the world building. What makes it different is the story isn't always focus on Aki character but also on others, there are mini arcs in the show and progress through out the season. Miraculous have that but only on a few characters and a bit rush or out of no where like their redemptions or it got abandoned.
Deuteragonist (Partner)
lets make this quick. On MLB, we got Adrien as the second protagonist, the partner and "equal" of Ladybug/Marinette. Adrien agreste, we know him, love him or hate him, he got the short end of the stick and chucked by the narrative like swept under the rug treatment or absolutely ignored by the creator, purposefully just have no drive or gets any meaningful development despite being labelled Ladybug equal. he is just ken at this point of the story and you can swap him with Alya and no damage would be done. Despite the final arc of the show season 5 being all about his family and existence, he got sideline while Marinette having no business with the Agreste family manage to be in the center of it as the writers shove him aside, she's the main focus just because she's the main character.
But the worse offender, is the fact that he is the shield to Ladybug's sword, multiple time have he save her and defend her in all akuma attacks as it really shows him as her equal where Ladybug used to lack in aggressive attack or in a losing position, Chat Noir is there to help. Many fans sees him losing so much, I was genuinely happy to see his past season feats of victories that I have to mentioned it. Now it seems like he lost his edge even before season 6 (soft reboot)
I need to move to Suna so I don't make this too long.
This is Suna, Megaman/Aki's older human sister and helps him when he needs her the most. always gives a level-headed solution to her quick reactive brother, is there when he's in trouble, save him when he almost lose his live to his first boss fight (episode 19) and knows how to fight to defend her family especially her little brother. Also can create her own mini helicopter, gadgets, weapon and a car.
So yeah she kick ass, even out of the Light siblings in the MMFC universe, she's the most resilience, Megaman media rarely have a human who can defend themselves so this is nice character development.
Sure you can argue that Chat noir/Adrien have some development, but it barely put an impression, barely give him any growth, any development for Adrien is just for the plot or drama or the convenience of Marinette. Suna's development may seems sudden but it make sense and give a sense of depth to her that I can tell more than Adrien's development.
Both have the same function as the equal partner there to help main character but one start to deteriorate while the other upgrades.
Also both gave speech to the main hero about their duties, true heroic self, and not giving up in a difficult situation.
Also without them Ladybug would spiral and have worse emotional break down and Aki would be dead, literally and figuratively.
Similarity
Suna And Adrien are both the partners to the main heroic character and is absolutely needed in both show.
Both Characters receives a power upgrade in the next continuation.
Both are significant and crucial to the MC (one is familial the other is romantic)
Becomes a damsel in distress when enemies overpower them but not for long.
Both characters use a staff in a fight (Suna change her weapon to a sword in the comic final issue)
Difference
Where Chat Noir start to loose his
Deuteragonist (Best Friend)
Best friend of Marinette and third holder of the miraculous, reporter girl running the Ladyblog also Rena Rouge the holder of the illusion kwami.
she's usually the level headed best friend to Marinette's anxious personality but her love operations are concerning and sometimes due to heavy focus on romance Alya advice Marinette to prioritize her feeling which is not good but storywise they're teens so can't blame them.
Alya sometimes help Ladybug in a fight even without miraculous or even monitor the fight and help on the sidelines.
She's responsible to figuring out ancient text from previous miraculous holders and become the back up Ladybug holder when Marinette can't
just don't let here near Lila cause Lila isn't a character, thats a black hole for IQ.
Meet Bert Wily, young engineer, scientist and inventor, Grandson of infamous Dr. Wily in MMFC universe and Best friend of both Light siblings (may or may not have a crush on one of them, maybe both)
He with his creative machine works manage to help Megaman against robot masters and it is a plot point. Due to the show being short it only happens 4 times which isn't a lot but I'm glad that it happened before the end of the show.
The difference between them, Bert doesn't give Aki bad ideas, he can do that himself. Whenever Alya gives an advice especially romantic advise to Marinette, it just torn Marinette up and Alya also somehow have trust issues with Marinette words when its against Lila or convenient for the drama. Bert have quarrels with Aki but it's just squabble like their decor preference or who will win in a race.
Oh ya also Bert rather humiliate himself than let Aki, his homie get laugh at. Bert is shown to always support Aki despite everything and Aki also loves his best friend and the thought of Bert replace him as Megaman if he can't under an urgent scenario is a plausible thought to Aki, Aki may never reveal his secret identity to Bert but it want needed because whatever it is, Bert have Aki's back and vice versa.
Despite his minor role and appearance, Bert semented his position in the show as "a very pure good boy who can do no harm" and it shown.
Tiny Mentor
Tikki, Kwami of creation, the wise companion for Marinette but doesn't in good conscious could give her a a grounded advice and just gives her 'nice' advice which on a surface level is a good advice but in hindsight is really not thinking for the long run, for a god of creation, this kwami just give Marinette lukewarm advice that makes me view her as sidekick who gives her powers and is the only reason she's there.
Megamini, Mini for short, the 3 inch robot voiced by Dani Devito somehow, the wisecrack repairman living inside a robot kid head and gives Aki actual warnings and alerts him when he's near his limit and danger approach. Actually a decent mentor figure that calms Aki down when he's in a mental breakdown ready to become a bomb.
When I said Mega Mini is crucial to Aki as a whole, I meant that.
sure Tikki and the other kwamis help Marinette out and comfort her in time of need but it's lacking cause they feel like a plot device than characters, it's not even compared to the really deep relationship this tiny robot in a war machine shaped like a child have cause without Mini, Aki is likely to be more broken and have more trouble especially when his power switch can only be access by Mini cause Aki cant automatically do that (maybe a safelock cause Aki was a war bot so he used to be able to auto switch copied powers but can't now cause it's a safety measure). Which after typing and thinking about it is insane.
Rival/Bully 1
To any Chloe defender, let me tell you something, she isn't getting her redemption just cause she act nicer, no because she doesn't learn her damn lesson or even try to be a better person but even then I agree the writers fuck her over.
So she's the bully and love rival to Marinette, the over dramatic mean girl but was an actual competent hero before regress worse to her old bullying habit. She actually beat Mayura ass in the episode Miraculer and I admit she's better as a bee hero than Zoe cause the action, the backstory, character progression is better, not gonna lie. My only problem is the fact that in season 5 she just become a plot device to show that "she's becoming worse" and somehow her dad, the corrupt mayor gets redemption before her. Her ending the arc like that just almost make me quit the show, but the finale is the main reason why I quit entirely.
Despite seeing the episode Derision show case her cruelty and bullying a lot more but that intensity wasn't show case in the beginning of season 1 and many details from the episode contradict many things from the early season which makes it disconnect.
Chloe without her akumatized form is just a school bully with her parents influence and shouldn't be mix with the rest of the miraculous villains but season 2 show us she can and it wouldve been part of her growth as an anti-hero and stop being a bully but still mean (people can actually be mean without being a bully) but after season 3 her character regress and the arc is ruined just to be replaced with a much worse arc for her character and still going into season 6 (just let her rest Astruc).
She really can be a good anti-hero than another villain to dealt with.
Namagem or Daini in the comics is an antagonist second villain in the show slowly becoming an anti-hero after the comic ends.
He appears as the second in command to Sgt. Night/Lord Obsidian and the main rival against Megaman before he is reveal as his long lost twin brother stolen by knight to be used against his own family. After the defeat of Sgt. Night/Lord Obsidian, instead of returning to his original family, he runs away not ready to be back to his family due to enduring many trauma inflicted by Sgt. Night/Lord Obsidian and still believe he needs to defeat Megaman in order to be worthy.
His character just being a rival but the foil/reflection when Aki doesn't have his family to support him. Namagem is almost the same to Chloe as both have abusive parents (Chloe have neglectful parents, Namagem have physical abusive master) but the way the show handle these two are different. Chloe insead of being view as both a victim and villain, the show ignore the victim part and just focus on her villainy despite the chance to make her a nuance victim turn villain. Namagem is a victim and his villainy is a result of Night's abuse and brainwash, even after being free of his master he subconsciously choose to follow through his 'mission' because the idea have been plated to him. The comic explore a bit of his psyche and how his abuse have changed so much and the pain is still there even after the abuser is gone. The Light family try to bring Daini back to the family but he can't accept the offer yet and forcing him back will hurt him so his family can only wait. Daini in comic is shown to have a chance in redemption because he show kindness to a bunch of scrap bots in the war area and gives those starving bots fuel from his own energy, he try to talk Aki into picking the right side of a possible second war that might've happen but Aki manage to stop it, Daini help his siblings to save their dad. The only problem is he still question his worth despite the past where he and Aki were war robots they were close, very close brothers.
What happened to Namagem doesn't excuse the harm he caused but it explained why and the comic elevate him, if we got a continuation we could've see him healing and redeem himself as he comes back to his family with their arms open, waiting for him. What I wish for Chloe is that she can be more than just her negative side but now there's no hope for her because the writers already doomed her.
Rival/Bully 2
This is Lila Rossi AKA Cerise Bianca AKA Iris Verdi AKA Chrysalis in season 6.
(yo what the frick, Tumblr doesn't let me upload her image 😂 until 6 tries.)
I. fucking. HATE. her.
I hate like Kendrik Lamar hating on Drake in the song Euphoria. Heck I have a beef with her, not her season 6 appearances but her season 1 - 5 appearances. Everything about her character to her stupid polka dot jumper. She snatch IQ like people snatch wigs. Every episode with her becomes unbearably stupid, incohesive, Incoherent, illogical, jumble up mess and makes me hate anybody who believes or agree with her lies. I genuinely want to climb to the screen and beat her up but let me defend my hater case and tell why I hate everything about her.
Her first appearance doesn't really impact me but it is the start
Lila appear near the end of season 1 for only one episode and her lies are a bit outlandish but I assume she's the attention grabber type so kinda expect her to say out loud she's Ladybug best friend and trying to get Adrien with a fake miraculous jewel after stealing the grimoire from Adrien. Yeah make sense she hates Ladybug (Ladybug expose Lila on public was a mistake on Ladybug but gonna get the plot going somehow.). Lila keep on hating Ladybug to season 2 where she help Hawkmoth akumatize everyone in Heroes day and that's the only episode where I like her function as a minor villain (despite her somehow manage to lie to the class that she is in Achu and convince one of her mom school were close due to akumatization) so it was a great season finale, and then season 3 happen where all went down hill.
season 3 is where she cause massive IQ loss to everyone she interact with even Alya making audience salty on her despite her being a good friend to Marinette, it's not only Alya, it's everyone even Marinette's parents to make them dumb enough to believe Lila's lies over their own daughter. The episode Chameleon is not only ableist, makes everyone dumb, it makes the whole plot have to be bend and twist just to make her look like a mastermind, it only make her more like a damn joke. Her lies lack subtlety and for too much to be believable that it took me out of the show and grind my brain. The tinnitus cause by saving Jagged Stone kitten lie just beyond stupid, that's because the reasoning doesn't make sense or even believable. Her sprained arm lie is okay but the moment she used it and the reason to used it to cover up her lies are stupid again, what ya mean someone in some middle east country got their eyes gauge with a napkin, and Max (smartest nerd) believe her. Adrien try to make her see her wrong doings but being a bitch she decide to snatch an akuma that was for Marinette and akumatize herself and proceed to sexually harass anyone to take Ladybug down including Adrien. After that ordeal, when Adrien tell Marinette to let Lila be, I dont blame him. If Lila kiss me I would choke myself to death so I 100% understand why Adrien take the highroad with Marinette cause he was traumatize. I defend that poor boy cause he already got shafted by writers, abused by his dad, left and hurt by his childhood friend, he didn't have to deal with Lila like just leave him alone, damn.
In the episode Oni-chan. Lila manage to convince Adrien to study in his home and send a photo of her kissing Adrien on the cheek when they were supposed to study, Kagami as everyone know as a level headed girl loose her mind and gets mad because of it. Kagami then gets Akumatize and aim for Lila head, Lila being a liar tell a police how Ladybug and Chat noir can't fight the Akuma and try to distract Chat noir from helping Ladybug to helping her instead, Chat noir being sane realize Lila actual motive then runs back to Ladybug to help her. At the end Lila only get away with a slap on a wrist and Adrien get a backbone to fight back Lila (to anyone who thinks Adrien doesn't have a spine clearly have selective amnesia). So this mean Lila lies can be debunk right ? That she needs to be more careful with her own lies right ? She will make a more believable lie without dumbing down anyone right ?
The fact that in Ladybug episode Lila put the whole class under near akumatization because she makes everyone believe Marinette cheat on a mock exam, stole her 'grandma' jewelry and push her down the stair when a nearby janitor was on duty and get to Lila first before anyone (and this guy doesn't say anything against her, can't blame an NPC). Barely anyone can defend Marinette until Adrien despite he said to take the high road to Marinette confronts Lila and threatened her to clean Marinette's name or else. Lila agree to do so and her reason she lie is because.... she has a lying disease.... (being a fan of miraculous is tiring and an unpaid job). Writers try to convince the audience that Lila is a big bad manipulative mastermind when she just tell her fake reason to lie and expelled Marinette is a LYING DISEASE. MY IQ AND SANITY DROP.
In season 4 she barely do anything other than being a mere inconvenience, just get Chloe to be her ally and just get a modelling career with Adrien to go around the world, just prevent Marinette from confessing to Adrien with Chloe's help. Oh yeah, smiling while Nathalie is coughing to death as if she just poisoned when she barely do shit.
This gets a whole lot worst in season 5 and I hate her more. But her manipulation games improved at least.
Here's a lighting round:
Lila mix truth with her lies as it redirect the truth to her favor. Used this to convince the class to elect herself and Chloe as Class president and gave Kagami doubt on Marinette.
Make herself part of the student resistance against Monarch to be his spy on the group of teens. She use this to inform Monarch of the Akuma Class plan to expose Gabriel Agreste because they want to use him to understand how Monarch transfer the stolen miraculous powers to the Akumas (they never found out it's the alliance rings until the season 5 finale)
Lila tell some lies to strangers on her way to school.
Lila somehow found out about Hawkmoth/Shadowmoth/Monarch secrets while being akumatize on purpose.
Lila convince the class to give Chloe a second chance while backhanded Marinette on her job as class president cause she gets distracted with her love life.
Somehow gets the whole class to vote for her and Chloe.
Make Chloe her pawn as Chloe follow all of her plans and the IQ snatching ability is given to Chloe temporarily and akumatized Sabrina to make the plan work.
Force Sabrina to forge everyone hand writes so the class futures could be ruined while leaving Marinette's untouch just to put the blame on her. This plan rely heavily on every school to be stupid and Sabrina lack of spine until Lila and Chloe gets exposed by Marinette and Sabrina cause they already planned it all out.
Lila have multiple identities and mothers, this came out of nowhere.
Lila using Chloe again to paint Ladybug and Chat noir in a criminal light when Mayor Bourgeios step down from the job as Chloe take over making her the tyrant of all Paris (ignoring the democratic Goverment entirely, yo da fu-)
While the whole Queen Mayor fight goes down Lila took that chance to steal Tomoe Tsurugi's laptop. So she could use it to access the Agreste Mansion ? maybe ?
Gets the Moth miraculous thus becomes new Moth wielder.
So far in season 6 she makes a better Hawkmoth than Gabriel and I like her new position, she's better as the hidden villain and doesn't have to interact with characters outside of akumatization.
I can RANT like crazy about her or what's wrong with her or why she's a terrible character and only work as an isolated villain, but other MLB fans who are Lila salter also fans with sanity.
Moving on my favorite little meow meow, my little chaotic BBG, my funny prankster.
Chaotique,
Chaotique the princess of speed and pranks, the secret boss and 2nd rival to Megaman. She's a lil' bitch but it's a treat everytime she appear.
To any MMFC fans, she isn't everyone favorite but she's the most noticeable and standout in the show, her design alone may not look like a standard Megaman franchise character and it's part of her appeal, someone new and fun. Mega Man Fully Charged is a spin off show loosely based on/ inspired by Megaman games franchise.
So Chaotique is a whole new robot master not based on any pre-existing robot from the games, the only robot close to her is Quickman and even then she inherent only speed and pride.
Chaotique only have 3 appearance in the show and included in 3 comic issues, unfortunately she isn't playing a big role in the comics but in the show, she's the catalyst of the show finale. Lila do the same thing in the episode "Catalyst" (season 2 episode 24). There was a chance Chaotique was supposed to be more prominent but it's not clear. Since MMFC got canceled we never see where her character go but I had a feeling that Chaotique would've been a rival and a love interest to Aki akin to Catwoman to Batman.
Chaotique motive's although small but it's clearer than Lila's. Chaotique just want to prank people for her own amusement no matter if it's harmless or dangerous, if the prank is cool, she'll do it. But after her encounter with Sgt. Night it seems like in the comic she's leaning toward more hostility to human that was shown in her first appearance (episode 35 "All Play No Work").
In the episode Chaotique appear as a prankster girl just looking for fun and very friendly and Megaman is in a lot of stress so he need the relaxation, Chaotique along with Megaman and Bert go around the city causing a pranking spree, all harmless and fun. Until Chaotique frame Bert for a thief she commits so Bert (a human) won't be between her and Megaman (robots). Megaman strong sense of justice denies her offer and they start a fight aroung the city like thy keep jumping from one location to another, she keep dodging and running from him with sharp precisions and agility better than him. And then she kick him to the curb so the only way Megaman defeat her is by using her own ego against her, he proclaim Bert did all the pranks until Chaotique show herself again to reclaim her rightful credit only to be arrest on the spot, she took it with grace, she gracefully escape and leaves a note to Megaman about his secret identity (she gets it wrong).
Chaotique is shown to have no remorse in her action, very smart and resourceful, have beat the hero more than once and only got beaten by their own underestimation of the situation. Lila expose herself in the fake bathroom thinking she will get away with framing Sabrina in the episode "Confrontation" (Season 5 episode 22). Chaotique not only have beat the absolute hell out of Megaman in episode 35, she does it again after Megaman make one of her prank failed and she beat him as she got away, he legit got kick from the school outdoor sport court to outside of it about 20 meter out and 2 meter to the air (I think) in her second appearance (episode 44 "Old School"). Lila beat Marinette only once before she have to retract Marinette's expulsion, Lila just nearly beat marinette before the reboot and in the end Marinette still win and Lila just hides away stalking her enemies. Chaotique just got electrocuted at the episode "Panic in the Lighthouse" (episode 50) and then gets away after getting repaired by Dr. Light. That's the equivalent of a robber gets hospital treatment after getting shot by the security system in the house they just robbed and get away with all the valuable goods. Lila got plot armor to protect herself, Chaotique almost die if the Light family wasn't that kind hearted to not leave her for dead.
I cannot forget to mention this, Chaotique was sent to break into the Light family in episode 50 to steal or tell Lord Obsidion/sgt.Night about a Macguffin named the "Megakey". The same thing that heal Chaotique after she got electrocuted is the the thing Sgt.Night wants but he didn't knew and only Chaotique knew about it. So she basically break into the hero house not because she was forced or she takes a reward from Sgt. Night, she wants to run her hands and legs again with Megaman, she just wanna "Grinding your(his) gears means a lot more than world domination or whatever."
My baby girl really said: I'm either your problem or your obsession cause I'm gonna take you out in all meanings
And then Lord Obsidian with his army of robots march to the Lighthouse right after the last episode and tell them all thanks to Chaotique. Till this day it's a debate whenever if she actually snitch or force to spill but based on her actions in the comic, everyone believes she snitch.
Here's the thing that makes her different from Lila. She never lie, so why am I comparing her to Lila, cause she does the same role and job as her. Minor antagonist working for the main antagonist. Unfortunately Chaotique stays a rival and minor antagonist while Lila upgrades (the writers nerf Chaotique in the comic, damn).
Chaotique is so fun to watch because she makes herself as this likable rouge because all of her actions in the show is all about having fun and she's a challenge Megaman can't deal with unless the plot demands it. The narrative doesn't try to make her an obvious big threat, it tried to undermine her but she proves otherwise, that's the part where Chaotique becomes a character who to me personally becomes very likable, fun, and exciting because she's unpredictable in her attacks and such a major rule breaker that she breaks a consistent thing in the show, Megaman always wins at the end, with her he'll be lucky just to get her to stand still. It's the complete opposite with Lila where everyone and everything have to be stupid to believes her lies while Chaotique fights and break a major rule from the show that no other characters can, she doesn't even have to lie, she never did. She has this charm that makes the audience likes her despite her actions in the series, Lila is a villain we hate for all logical reasons Chaotique is a villain we like despite all reasoning .I dont speak for all of MMFC fandoms but I do speak for Chaotique enjoyer, that's our evil babygirl and we all love her.
Closer
If there's any wrong detail or mistake in here, please let me know. There will be part 3 so I'll make more comparisons with other characters before moving on to the world building. See ya 💖
… Why the fuck do goths/punks/emos have to be associated with evil? Can’t Adrien look like some teen cultist in all white clothing and slick back hair? He pretends to be this good guy to hide his cruel personality, but occasionally there are slip-ups. And, I don’t know, maybe a rockabilly theme for Marinette? (The jacket and ascot are giving me some serious rockabilly vibes right now) And if not that, then like a ‘mini evil CEO’
If goths are so evil, then why wasn’t Juleka made into a surprise villain? Nathaniel has emo bangs and I don’t see him being made into Hawkmoth’s lackey. And Marc’s obviously punk, so let’s just have him try to steal the Miraculous
Also, Shadybug and Claw Noir…Obviously punk-inspired, though Shadybug is giving me more emo vibes. But, would it kill the artists to put Claw Noir in a hooded trench coat, or something? Just… Not every person in a leather jacket is evil. There are just idiots who put on leather coats to look intimidating so they can get away with doing stupid stuff. And you know what? Fuck them
He can just stand on top of a building, his eyes and smile are the only things seen as the hood casts a shadow on his face, and the coat is just bowing in the wind all mysterious and shit. Now, Shadybug… I don’t know, I hear that the brightly-colored ladybugs are poison, so there’s that. No complaints about the hair, I love the hair. Maybe a crop jacket with tally marks on the back to show how many people she had Claw Noir cataclysm
And if she’s an evil badass, she’ll need steel-toed boots to kick peoples’ brains out
It's been a while, I know. But I come back to rant yet again! I'm sorry for any mistakes in advance - its 2am and the thoughts won't let me sleep so I have to get them out there somewhere. If you don't want to waste your time - skip it. If you actually want to read it, I'll have a cookie waiting for you at the end of this. :3
My journey with MLB.
Miraculous was that one show that I got to know about through a parody of it on polish yt channel called Surreactor. I didn't know what it was about but it looked interesting and that was a point in time when season 3 was just starting to come out. Sooo, as the curious child I was - I gave it a go. And it captured me very easily.
At first all I wanted is for Adrien and Mari to finally get together. I never had big thoughts about it. Then I got bored between new episodes and just... forgot about it.
After some time however I came back to it. It was somewhere around 4th season airing. I returned to it, watched it all over again and it captured me yet again. I completely fell in love with Adrien as character and started to read loads of fanfiction about the two main heroes. I got invested, started to draw the characters in different settings and what not. I started even posting here on tumblr the rants that blew out about Adrien and about Black Cat holders as a whole just because I was frustrated on how little love he got or that I couldn't find any theories that would make sense.
I made new friend, started to plan stories more than I did before, returned to RP with my old friend through messenger and more.
It was a blow of creativity of mine at that time. You maybe you know of "Sky Is The Limit"? That was the point for me where I had so many ideas that I had to do something with at least one of them. Talking about an overload, right?
Season 4 finale - the best finale in this show in my honest opinion. Though I am based so who cares.
The point is - I deeply fell in love with this fandom for the most part.
And then... season 5 happened.
At first I was hooked. Really. I felt that it was going in the right direction and I even wanted to watch it later so I could see it in order.
Oh boy, did I get disappointed. Very disappointed.
I was never a Senti-Adrien fan, let's be real. But the execution? Even worse.
The finale? The fight yea, fun. But why cut out Adrien out of it???
Chloe as mayor? ARE YOU FOR FUCKING REAL? It's losing braincells more and more.
And I know the plot armor was always evident in this show and all.... but i feel like it was knocked up 10 times or more in season 5 to the point it could beat Game of Thrones seasons 7 and 8. (Yeah, I know what should compare two shows where one is fenomenal and the other has always been trash, but you can't argue with me that seasons 7 and 8 weren't rushed and had very poor execution)
To say that I was angry is an understatement. I HATED season 5 with every fiber of my existence. I still do, but I'm far more calm about it than I was originally. Believe it or not.
I saw all the drama in the fandom. When people complained about the show and other people came in to defend it. And I have to say - I can see where both sides are coming from.
To the people who enjoy it, all of it - I'm glad you do! I really am!
However.
I can clearly see where the hate is coming from and anytime I saw a valid critique I couldn't help but agree with it. There were some awesome responses to that critique even from people who do enjoy the show still, but there were always people who I'll call "white knights".
Aka people who will ride-or-die for the show and always say there is nothing wrong with it!
Oh how I hate this way of thinking....
Little message to those white knights - yes there are pure haters that hate just to hate, but in the spectrum of people who are critiquing the show are also people who loved it and got disappointed. When people are angry/dissapointed they usually feel the need to express themselves and forums like Reddit, Tumblr, Twitter, are just perfect for ranting. I have spent fair share in the horse gaming community to know that every flop will have a retaliation and shutting up people will make them only more angry. :|
I stopped liking the show. Why am I coming back to it?
That's a question that started to bother me just as I was going to sleep.
I have watched Hazbin Hotel (Lucifer my beloved) and fell deeply in love with it. I always liked Vivzie's Hellaverse being it Helluva Boss and now Hazbin, but there is something that just came back to me.
I started yet again imagining Adrien and Marinette but in the helllaverse. Or what if I merged hellaverse and Miraculous together in some way. Or other crazy ideas that will never see the light of day.
It's always those two characters for the most part. But the moment those two show up, the rest of Miraculous cast does too.
I fell put of the show. I don't like it. Why do I keep coming back?
My thought is - the fandom and the work it did for the characters.
I have always loved to read fanfiction even it came to miraculous. And it's always SO MANY! With many different variants of the world or entirely different settings. Ofc there are some bad fics, but the good ones are those that captured my heart and made me love the characters even more.
Let's put in some examples (and recommendations if you want to check them out):
Happiness by Somewhere_Out_Here
Once a Thief, always a Thief by @saijspellhart
Bakery Enemies by @buggachat
Heaven in hiding by @livinglittlelie
I'll guess your heart, if you guess mine by PurpleHeartsOne
Chat Blanc's Moon Waltz by @rileyclaw
The comic dubs by PhantomSavage
The little comics like "Passionate Kiss" by @edendaphne
All of these are just very few examples from multitude of content I devoured when I was in the love stage for MLB. And those things are STILL SO GOOD. (You have to check it out if you haven't already)
The point is - the fandom fell in love with the concept and if not that, then the characters. Yes, they aren't perfect. Some would say they are very much Mary Sue-ish. Some would say they are badly written. While the fact is - the characters themselves aren't badly written, the plot is just badly handled.
I can see why people love Marinette, she is quirky, funny and her ideas, while absurd most of the time, they work. And that's fine! She is supposed to be creative and what not. A great friend to have in corner, that for sure :3
Adrien on the other hand is supposed to be a bundle of issues that come with living a sheltered life and the want to be free.
(The movie handled Marinette much better than the show, let's be real here)
Sad fact - the writers of the show couldn't handle all of the potential they set up. But the fandom could and that's what's beautiful in my opinion.
The show may not be a masterpiece but they made some aspects of it so enjoyable and investing (love-square) that other people decided to execute those good things in their own stories and create something else.
The characters are just so easy to put into other stories too. Because they are written in the way they are (even if poorly handled at times) the aspects of them are very flexible, which in turn makes them easy to incorporate into other AUs.
For me it proves that you don't need a very complicated and deep character to make your story memorable. Even tho that certainly helps depending on your story. Miraculous was really lucky it got that creative fandom in the first place.
And this is what is beautiful.
Ending, some plans of mine that who knows if they will see the light of day. :]
This is only for those who are interested what I have been up to and what do i plan with this blog:
I am not quitting tumblr, oh no. I'll be probably reposting some stuff that I like from time to time.
I am returning to write "Sky Is The Limit", however I am completely rewriting it for the.... 7th time? Something like that. I doubt I'll finish it anytime soon at this rate and if I get the need to draw I might draw few characters from there or designs I have planned.
I have a very big project in mind that I might probably make a new blog for. It's still just an idea but I getting closer to actually being made so stay tuned.
I will start posting stuff from Hazbin Hotel. I fell deeply in love with Lucifer's character and you can't unglue me from that duck man!!
Other than that I went to university and I'm enjoying my time here so yeah.
And here is your cookie for reading all that! You're a legend!
(I'm open for any discussions as long as they stay respectful. Feel free to DM me :>)
