Since I brought back my favorite lab rats edits because I should probably post the Only mighty med edit I made and it was of trans fem Experion who I just remembered and now I miss dearly …. Evil daughter I left for milk sorry
Experion has never really fit in on Caldera. They were always the odd one out, being a not-Skylar Calderian... But they’ve always wanted to be connected to that feeling. There was something strange about being called “male” on Earth, that just made them shiver in their second skin.
Maybe Skylar has the answer.

‘He’ ‘She’ ‘They’.
Experion had no clue on how Earth pronoun’s fully worked. Maybe it was similar to the ones on Caldera, but these new ones were all so confusing. They were so used to just ‘Hy/Hym’ that the ones Earth had forced upon them was so weird.
Everyone had a strange view on their gender too, calling them a ‘male’ Calderian... Which was weird, since Caldera didn’t even have a word for whatever a ‘male’ was. Experion had asked on their first trip to Earth what Skylar thought of it, and they only said to just go along with it and never question it, xe never did.
Experion had slowly grown... accustomed? Was that the right word? To ‘He/Him’, they suppose, though it never felt fully correct. But it was easier to just go along with what Earth gave them because what else could they do, Experion had no clue how Earth gender customs worked.
They had found Earth’s customs odd, but charming honestly. Oliver and Kaz had invited Skylar and Experion to what they called a ‘pride parade’, where normo humans celebrate their identities and sexuality. Skylar had been to Earth more times, and had learnt about Earth customs due to living there, and had started to called themselves a lesbian and nonbinary, which Experion could understand once they explained it in Calderian terms.
While they explained ‘nonbinary’, Experion felt a small tug on their second heartstrings, like it was something they forgot about, something unknown and familiar to them.
Experion wondered what it was like being nonbinary... At least they had someone to discuss it with.

Skylar seemed to busy themselves in the Hospital’s rec-room, along with Oliver and Kaz. Experion noticed the various pieces of construction paper and pencils, with Oliver doing most of the writing.
“Oh, hey man!” Kaz called out first, moving over one spot on the couch, patting the spot next to them. Experion gladly took the spot next to Kaz, who busied himself quickly, cutting out shapes and words, one which Experion knew was ‘Festival’, which seemed weird, since that word was only used for old royalty over 400 years ago, and then Experion remembered that that was Calderian history, not Earths, so the word probably meant something else here.
“What... is this for?”
“Oh, Horace, since we had our break,” Oliver nudged Kaz’s shoulder in annoyance, “Said we could help with a Superhero Festival being held here. Since I guess we don’t have any like, Superhero clubs?” Skylar nodded in reply.
“There used to be one club, but Gamma girl radiated all the staff and they had to close down.” Skylar finished cutting through their paper, and spread out a paper banner. Expa rubbed their thumbs together for a second, then leaned over Kaz to stare at Skylar.
“... Sky, I need to ask you something.” Skylar immediately looked up from their scissors and pencils with an attentive expression. They didn’t respond, but had a face that suggest Experion continue.
“... What feeling do you have... being nonbinary?” Skylar certainly didn’t expect that sort of question.
“Um, well... I don’t know. I just, didn’t feel like... a girl, or something. I didn’t feel like a boy either. Oliver and Kaz told me about it and stuff.” They looked away for a second, but turned back quickly. “I just-, It, uh... It’s hard to pinpoint? I guess? I just... had a vibe, I suppose. That’s what it felt like.” Oliver had turned to face Experion, accidentally knocking it Kaz’s arms.
“Mmm... Mmmmaybe? Like Skylar said, it’s hard to understand. I feel... not ‘male’ or whatever, but I don’t... want to be fully not either.” As a Calderian, Skylar and Experion couldn’t experience human identity like what was the norm, so Experion thinking about how to present themselves, or what they wanted to be was hard to think about, especially since they had no clue on what any terms were on Earth.
“Hey, that’s cool! You don’t need to label yourself right away. I was unlabeled for like, 6 years, before I wanted to use bisexual. You never need to label yourself if that’s what you want.” Kaz chimed in, doing finger guns and pointing at Expa, all while making ‘pew’ noises.
“I know some good books if you wanna read about Earth terms. I can write up a list?” Oliver suggested, to which Experion nodded.
“I... want to look like Skylar. Is that a... Human gender thing?” Oliver thought for a second at Experion’s words.
“Do you wanna be... a girl? Um, I mean, no gender identity is limited to a presentation, but you could be trans feminine...?” Oliver pulled a piece of blank white paper and a glitter pen from the pile ever-growing, writing down a bunch of Earth English words Experion didn’t really know. The words ‘trans fem’ and ‘demi-girl’ showed up a few times.
“Trans fem is a sort of, umbrella term? I think... Where you want to be more... girl... I think. I’m not the best person to ask about it, since I’m not trans fem...” Oliver mumbled, handing the paper with clean scribbled handwriting to Experion.
“We can start by asking what pronouns you like, if you want.” Skylar chucked their scissors onto the table, met with a hushed scold from Oliver and a copy of movements from Kaz.
“What ones are there...?” Kaz grinned widely and tapped their hands on his knees rapidly.
“So many. There’s so many ones.”
“We don’t want to overwhelm... them...?” Oliver looked at Experion expectantly.
“Uhm... Yeah, that feels okay.” Them. Experion liked that. Though, there was some feeling a piece being missing.
“Is he/him off the table?” Experion hesitated, then nodded.
“she/her?” Skylar offered, with Experion giving them an odd look.
“Oh uh, ‘My pal Experion uhh... hit a pinata... she’s so cool!’ Did that feel right?” Kaz offered and Experion nodded with a sense of pride. She felt right. It felt snug? What feeling was this?
“Hey, She/They! Alright!” Kaz high-fived Experion, who was startled from the sudden movement on her right.
“Do you want a new name? I mean, we have just been calling you Experion for last... entire time we’ve known you.”
“I honestly thought it was your Superhero name.”
Experion paused, thinking. Being called ‘Experion’ didn’t really harm her, it felt fine. ‘Expa’ was also okay. But, she felt like she wanted a human name, like Skylar had. Connie Valentine could be a normal high-schooler, who wasn’t afraid to be xerself. Experion wanted to be like that.
“Experion is fine. But I do want a human normo name like Skylar.”
“Don’t let Kaz come up with it, because they can’t.”
“Hey! Connie Valentine is a great cover name, actually.”
Kaz and Oliver had devolved into a small argument between themselves, mostly about how Kaz couldn’t make-up good cover stories, while Kaz would respond that Oliver couldn’t lie at all.
Experion and Skylar exchanged a knowing glance, and Expa got to work to help with the festival. She kinda liked this feeling. It was good, being herself.
