4 - Do you save your 'cut scenes' from your fics? (Want to share one?)
i do have a few things that i jotted down but then cut from how to disappear. they're all pretty rough but i'll share one under the cut!
so we know that in how to disappear mickey's house is surrounded by blue roses and later on once he's started staying at ian's overnight there is a mention of blue flowers growing in ian's yard. the original notion was to imply that the flowers grow blue wherever he considers home?? and ian became home???? ultimately it was too convoluted so i left in the mentions of blue flowers but decided not to explain it... here was the rough draft of that convo though:
“You into gardening or something?” Ian asks.
“What the fuck?”
“All those rose bushes in your front yard.”
“Those are fuckin wild man, i didnt plant shit.”
“Ive just never even seen blue roses before, figured they must have been bought special or something.”
Mickey has a moment of internal deliberation. “It’s a witch thing.”
“A witch thing?”
“Yeah. Wherever i’m livin’…flowers just grow fuckin blue there. My home back in chicago, then my aunts house after my mom dumped me on her, and now here. Home’s always surrounded in blue flowers. I dunno if it’s the universe reminding me that I can’t escape who i am or..i dunno. Maybe i do it subconsciously…submagically? Whatever. It’s whatever. I’ve always kind of liked em blue anyway.”
“You’ve…always liked blue flowers?”
“…. Okay fuck you. It’s better than fuckin pink or yellow flowers following me around.”
-Kick shove push. Ian laughing.-
“Wow. okay mickey milkovich; never buy him pink or yellow flowers. Noted.”
“Dont you ever buy me fucking flowers at all bitch i swear to god.”

💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart? mickey's turmoil in "Your Question Has Been Received" breaks my fucking heart, he just wants to love and be loved and find his joy! and he's been held back from doing that his entire life, so to give him something to hope for has been a privilege as a writer! 💛
🍦 What's the sweetest fic you've created so far? definitely "to be gentle, to be soft" - it's just a bunch of happy gooey goodness! mickey is so soft for ian it's ridiculous 🥺

🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride? the final two chapters of "Teenage Dirtbag" are the wildest, craziest, most fun shit i've ever written and will probably ever write. i'm so proud of that story (even though i'm embarrassed by the smut, i'm way better at writing it these days lmao) and if there's any story of mine that you should read, it's that one. you'd never expect it to turn out how it does! 🎶

we did share something a while ago about our process i’ll put a screenshot in!! my favourite scenes are definitely text chains between ian and mickey, and anything with little glimpses into their softening towards each other 🥺 i think that’s why this chapter was so brutal to write. it was just so much pain 😭
