A big part of Delphine’s development is realizing that she’s on the asexual spectrum.
For 500+ years, Delphine’s body has belonged to anyone that would feed her. She’s worked in various forms of sex work, had a wide range of sexual experiences, but none of those involved love. For a while, she didn’t mind it. She liked the chase, the seduction and the idea of someone desiring her.
She’s at a point where sometimes the thought of having sex makes her skin crawl. And isn’t that a cruel fate, to feel sick of something you need to live? When Delphine realizes she needs to feed soon, she wants to cry.
Sex doesn’t completely disgust her, at least not yet. It’s just…people look at her and assume that she’s ready and willing anytime anywhere for any and everybody. She’s nothing but a toy for them, an empty vessel for their pleasure. It’s a really fucked up way to feel and be treated.
So Delphine’s route is a slow burn because she’s discovering that she’s on the ace spectrum and she doesn’t want anyone to touch her.
