Hello There!
You can call me MNIM-Dev, Maria-Dev, or just plain Maria! I'm working on a visual novel game that goes in depth about human morality, what truly makes a family, how past abuse can influence a person, and other deep psychological topics that might not be for everyone.
I want to bring to light about emotional and mental abuse and to show what it can do to a person. Our main character Maria slowly loses her sanity due to her past abuses, so I'm diving into deep and heavy topics.
I will be posting updates on the game here and do speedpaints and livestreams (hopefully) on my YouTube channel, which I'll link in my bio above.
If you see something wrong about my depictions of abuse or have any tips on how to make my game better, please let me know! :)
Original Fic Fest Day ONE
aka Character Day. i’ll be developing a character that’s dear to me but hasn’t gotten the time to shine yet.
WIP - My Name is Mick
Premise - 5 kids attending an elite academy band together and form an arts magazine
Characters - Ed: is INCREDIBLY underdeveloped, all you need to understand for this excerpt is that he goes to an academically focused high school
Ed learned early on that attention is like the positive feedback loops he learned in Bio last year, though he didn’t know what positive feedback was at the time.
Initially, he stumbled on attention. This was how it always works, he noticed. Everybody stumbles on attention: your mama praises you for your shining straight A’s (not that she’d expect any less), you eat your vegetables plate-licked clean (or pretend you did), or in his case, you win the Innovative Minds Statewide Chapter in the 2nd grade.
He didn’t even know what innovative meant at that time, but he spent nearly the entire year preparing for that contest. In the end, he won 8th place nationwide, and that was somehow a big deal. He didn’t know why at the time; after all, his parents always held him in high esteem — “you will succeed in life, become the nation’s best doctor/lawyer/engineer (it was interchangeable at the time)”, “you will grow up like us”, “you must eat your damned vegetables every day if you want to grow up like us, successful, now”. But it was. Kids at school regarded him with a new admiration.
He liked it; he hates to admit how much he liked it.
Okaayy that’s all for the excerpt for now — all I got through was little Ed being a little brat (aka most little kids). I don’t want this to go on too long but I’m still going to be finishing it up on my own (let me know if you want me to post the rest of it!)!
(oomph it’s technically Day 3 now given it’s 12 AM but whales)
OOPS i got day 2 and 1 mixed up! my bad, let’s pretend this didn’t happen~~

MNIM
It’s nearing the end
...of the school year, mid-May, when spring melts into summer, warmth melts into oppressive heat, when skin and flesh melt right off the bones. That’s the case with Mick — as she lays spread-eagle on the cold floorboards, urging the last bit of coolness in the house to seep into her skin. The only reason she had even agreed to stay in this godforsaken, AC-less hell had been because the library closed early today to restock and Kay, the ass she is, refuses to offer respite in her AC-accessible mansion.
“If I die, I need you to lie. Say I was watching the sunset from a cliff in Hawaii when I fell to my glorious death or, I don’t know, I risked life and limb to protect orphaned puppies in the middle of a hurricane. Say anything, anything, but the fact that I died while studying because my dear friend here insists that we burn in this hellhole.”
Kay ignores Mick, jotting notes down on her notebook.
“Hello?” Mick says. She tries to snap but she is helpless against the fatigue. “I’m relevant. Hey. Listen to me.”
Ignored. “Is my wellbeing, my life, not as important as your history notes?”
Kay swivels around in her chair in a swift motion. “No. My grade are in fact more important than you. Get off your ass and do what we’re supposed to be doing right now — y’know, studying?”
“Pull me up.” No response. “Please?”
“Fuck off.”
“Pleeeeeaase?”
Kay swivels around again when Mick chucks an eraser at her.
“I won’t bug you anymore, promise,” Mick says.
“And since when did you keep your promises?”
“Pinky promise.”
“Please, don’t.” Kay groans. “Fine. No, we’re not doing pinky promises, give me your hand.”
Mick extends her hand and latches onto Kay’s — but Kay, underestimating her vast strength, tugs the slightest too hard.
Mick is swept clean off the ground and topples into the air. They nearly bump heads, but Mick turns at the last moment and she slams sideways against the desk, swiping half of Kay’s papers to the floor.
“Oh shit Mick, you good?”
Pain clenches her side, which quickly dulls down, which then quickly becomes numbness, spreading across the rest of her body.
“Oh no no no no....” Kay murmurs when Mick curls into fetal position, rocking herself back and fourth, begging for mercy from the ever loving hells. She’s trying to hold back tears.
Kay sighs, and, knowing it’s the surefire way to make Mick feel better, huddles next to her and wraps her in a hug.
Mick’s breath catches.
“Fuck, did I hurt you?” Kay releases but Mick grabs her arm and pulls Kay back in. Tighter.
Mick burrows her face into Kay’s neck. Kay chuckles and Mick can imagine her eye roll. But she doesn’t care.
They stay like this for a while. Mick loves Kay’s hugs: muscular as she is, she’s squishy in all the right places. And soft, soft hands. Mick traces her knuckles, traces the space between her knuckles.
Kay avoids affection like the plague, but she lets Mick hold her because she has kind of been an ass today. When she finally pulls away, she’s surprised Mick lets go.
“Now can we study?”
Mick pulls herself off the ground and dusts herself off. “Yeah,” she says, softly, that Kay almost doesn’t catch the quiet affection in her voice. Almost.
(late late late) Original Fic Fest Introoooo
Hey guys - I’m pretzels and I’ve started my writeblr recently!
Since I never made an intro for any of my WIPS, I’ll use this post as an @originalficfest intro and an intro for my WIP. Kill two birds with one stone amirite?
STORY:
My Name is Mick
It’s still in its very rough drafts, but the basic premise is of 5 high school kids of an elite academy joining together to form an arts magazine. Definitely slice of life, probably humor, maybe drama?
Most of this is written in present tense unintentionally oomps
Characters
I’ll reiterate that this is in its V E R Y rough stages.
Mick - fresh/soph (it just hasn’t been relevant yet lol), comes up with this whole magazine idea in the first place Chinese American, sexually confused, spontaneous and colorful (manifests in her writing), loves big and random word
Kay - perfect kid, definitely not rich enough to attend this academy but got in through scholarship, constantly pressured to be perfect i cant write white ppl idek lmao, pan, straightforward, swears in every other word (around close friends),
Beth - the other perfect kid, except she’s blatantly perfect, likes being perfect, focuses a l l her efforts on earning that 4.0 until she joins the magazine straight ??, Willie’s twin sister, is pretty badass actually, fun to write
Willie - Not Perfect, is the other half of Ed, loves pranks, diagnosed w ADHD, frequents the arcade, he will eat out of your hand
Ed - street smart, other half of Willie, loves pranks, doesn’t mind being in the background, frequents the arcade, very bery very Nice
(i’ve been focusing on the dev of 1st 3 and not much on the last two whoops)
@originalficfest oomph late post! i was going to get around to doing this but then life happened. I’m still so excited to participate <3
Nie powtarzaj mi, że to nieważne. Wierzę w każde słowo jak w ciebie. Jesteś numerem jeden dla mnie. A ty na poważnie tego nie bierzesz. Zanim zaczniesz się wahać, zobacz gdzie jestem, daję ci wszystko. Nadal niezmiennie mogę być wszędzie a wciąż jestem blisko...
Top 5 Book Series You Wish Had More Books
This was a pretty tough topic, because I’m usually of the idea that most series are too long, not too short. But after an extended Goodreads search, I did manage to find 5. Sort of...
Definitely Want More Books:
1. Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor- It’s not a secret that I did not like the way this trilogy ended. I would like it more, however, if there were going to be more books or a companion series to cover the 6500 plotlines Taylor added in at the last minute. So I’m keeping my eyes peeled for that.
2. My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares- This book was actually supposed to be the first in a series, but when it didn’t sell as well as Brashares’ other books, the sequels were cancelled. It ends just ambiguously enough to make me upset that there’s no sequel happening.
3. The Host by Stephenie Meyer- I’m not a huge fan of this book (I definitely like it better than Twilight, though), but it’s intriguing enough that if Meyer ever decided to write the sequels, I would read them. I’d get them from the library, though, because I recently donated my copy of The Host.
Don’t Necessarily Need More Books, But I Wouldn’t Say No if They Did Happen:
4. Adaptation duology by Malinda Lo- I don’t feel like this series needs another book, but I wouldn’t mind knowing what happens to the ot3 after Inheritance. And it’s not like I’d turn down another Malinda Lo book.
5. Graceling series by Kristin Cashore- Same boat. These books are only loosely connected to each other rather than a cohesive series, so adding more books to the Seven Realms canon wouldn’t feel to me like Cashore was dragging anything out. I just like this world.
