Tensions rise in the house when Benjy becomes tired of his roommates’ chatter at two a.m. and gives James an ultimatum. (x)
Been a busy few months and I haven’t been as active as I’d like, but I’m trying to make sure I still make little offerings when, where, and however I can. Recently, the jasmine on the fence has erupted into bloom, so I’ve put a little jar of it on the altarspace for Sobek. Montu has some a particularly fiery flower and rosemary sprig from a brigade memorial event. If the recent shufflemancy has been anything to go by, it’s been appreciated!
Featuring a Sobek pin from @mamath‘s Tiny Pintheon series, and a special edition red bull skull from Jazz Illustration for Montu.
Finished some sidebar images I’ve been wanting to add to my blog. Monthu and Sobek, respectively. How’s this for a weird coincidence, my altarspace is directly behind me as I work, with the two devotional pieces I made earlier this year up on it. They are in mirror positions to these images on my blog! Like they’ve always got their eyes on me.
Can you tell me more about Montu and your experiences with him, what’s he like, what’s his personality? (:
G’day Anon!
I’ve written a few posts up on my experiences with him in general: a loose kind of summary here, some UPG bits and bobs, how he’s involved in my firefighting here and here, and I touch on some talk on epithets and his personality briefly here.
I don’t really have much to expand on his personality, and I tend to regard most of it as kinda UPG so YMMV? Some people seem to get more of the ‘Drill Sergeant’ or the ‘warry’ or warlike Montu, and that was certainly what I expected based on my research prior to introducing myself. Whilst I’ve found him to be rather proper, for lack of a better term, I’ve not found him to be overbearing or stuck-up, nor a gun-ho madman.
Key points, if I had to narrow them down a few that I’ve experienced: level headed, only rages when it counts, stubborn, methodical, speaks softly with a lot of meaning, a tactician with a game plan. He’s also been supportive, patient, understanding, and just.
Cheers,-Ales
Dua Montu! Dua Sobek!
My blog renovations are complete and I have launched two pages I’ve been working on for a while. Now, both of the Sirs finally have their own little brief info page with a description, history, list of epithets and offerings! Click on their respective images above to see them. There are also links in my description, and each of the sidebar images. I got a bit code-happy.
The East, The West
Finished my devotional pieces for Montu and Sobek. They’re up on my altar now! Nice to get a definitively falcon piece up there.
Completely traditional pieces, on A4 scale. Gouache and ink.
Another devotional piece for Montu. Bukhis, based off the Tunisian aurochs skull, arguably one of the oldest specimens of aurochs not only in North Africa, but the world. The skull is fractured and missing from the lacrimals down, along with a considerable amount of the maxilla. Nonetheless, its impressive and imposing. The full reach of the horns is ~150cm!
