Twenty Questions: Fic Author Edition
tagged by @thelettersfromnoone thank you!
1-How many works do you have on AO3?
33 works. Most are incomplete or if they are, those are one shots/drabbles.
2-What's your total AO3 word count?
442,055. (and yet most of these are unfinished)
3-What fandoms do you write for?
The Hunger Games, Once Upon a Time, Star Wars (specifically The Mandalorian), Jane Austen, Lucy Maud Montgomery, Doctor Who, Marvel, and Fairy tales.
4-What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
A Simple Act of Kindness
PositiveSpy Game
All I Need is You
With Love
5-Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try my best to do so. I think if someone is nice enough to show my fic some love via comment, then they deserve a reply. I'm also a rambler, so most of my replies are often longer than the original comment, lol!
6-What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I'm not sure. I normally don't like to leave angst at the ending. Sure I put my muses through hell, but I like to give them their happy ending. That's not to say I won't in the future. I have a feeling it'll be something like that for my MOAV series.
7-What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I make it a point to give them all a happy ending. I guess mine might be either With Love or A Simple Act of Kindness.
8-Do you get hate on fics?
Yup. And I delete them. Also one of the reasons I moderate comments on AO3. I also get some weird comments that I don't publish because they are pretty out there.
9-Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Yes. I've written all different kinds. From erotica to fade to black. Just depends on the muses and the type of story I'm trying to write. I do have some fics that are just meant to be smutty so I let the muses do as they please.
10-Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I live on Crossovers, muahahahaha!!! I have recently merged, The Hunger Games, Once Upon a Time, and Lucy Maud Montgomery into one fic... that was a stretch, but when you love your OTP enough, you make it work.
11-Have you ever had a fic stolen?
As far as I know, no never had a fic stole. Have had my digital art stole quite a bit.
12-Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I am aware of. If so, cool! Just give me creds, I worked hard on it.
Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Indeed! And it's a LOT of fun to share creative roles. I've co-written a lot of fics/pieces with Meagan my kiddo. Then there's the ongoing Rumitch Series, I'm co-writing/collaborating on with @torontosquirrels on.
What's your all-time favourite ship?
My ride or die ship will always be my Rumitch (Haymitch & Ruby) as if that's isn't blatantly obvious from everything I write and my whole profile here. Let me be clear, I love ships. I am a queen shipper. But I ship chemistry and not canon. Rumitch began when I wanted to write a fic of my two fave characters in a crossover so they could be friends because I knew they'd get along well... Now that fic is horribly written, but that spawned my favorite ship so I've never deleted it.
There's another on tumblr that has neither confirmed nor denied creating the ship and I'm here to state I did it!! Me, IT WAS ME!
What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Oof... maybe all of them, lol! I always hope to finish fics and I used to pressure myself into doing so. Not because anyone was demanding more chapters (although I did have a super nice reader who hoped I would post more and even inspired me to write a side story to an ongoing series), but because I hate leaving things unfinished. Now, if they are finished, awesome; if not, then that's okay. I know in my head how I want it to go/end.
What are your writing strengths?
Um, I don't know. I do love writing certain tropes/genres, but is it a strength? I have no idea. I want to say my strength is angst.
What are your writing weaknesses?
All of it? LOL! Pacing if I'm honest with myself. I suck at pacing a story. I have multi chapters for one day and then skip ahead a few months in the next chapter. I need to work on that and also, do I care?
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I used to write stuff for Bucky Barnes when he was The Winter Soldier, meaning I needed to head to the search engine for a Russian/English dictionary. I used to have a site bookmarked (on an old computer) that helped me translate from English to Russian.
First fandom you wrote for?
Jane Austen. I didn't even realize I was writing fan fiction at the time. I was a teen and I just got this idea in my mind and I decided to write it.
Favorite fic you've ever written?
This one is pretty easy, The Magic of Ordinary Days. I have no problem admitting this is my favorite child (fic) that I've written all by myself. I waited years to write it and I'm glad I waited. My prose has improved, vocabulary larger, and when I wanted to write it I was in my 20s and really just stretching my writing legs. If I had written it then, it would have been a mess. Now, it's my favorite fic and I'm going to be using it for NaNoWriMo again this year to hopefully see more progress with it.
