‘ okay --- okay -- ’ alastair grinned, completely in his element right now. magic was his forte; it was his passion, his life-long ambition and whilst he wasn’t as famous as he wanted to be ( vegas performances & netflix shows ) he enjoyed was peforming on the streets of la and at kids birthday parties and the occasional wedding.
‘ so you’ve written your name on the card you pulled out. here’s what i’m going to do now -- ’ and he did what he described -- ‘ i’m tearing the corner off this, and i’m going to put it in my mouth and swallow it. see ? all gone. ’ he smiled. ‘ now the problem with eating cards is that sometimes they can give you a small case of bad breath. but i’ve got these tic-tacs here so i’m sorted. ’ he pulls a full, unopened pack of tic-tacs from his pocket, and inside is the folded corner of the card he’d just swallowed, with a section of the person’s name still on it.
‘ would you look at that ? is that part of your card ? ’ he hands the stranger the packet, waiting for their reaction.
