Double-Faced - Tigran Hamasyan
Mockroot
It was five years ago today: Tigran Hamasyan made his Nonesuch debut with the release of Mockroot, an album of new tracks and arrangements of traditional Armenian songs. "There are many brilliant and perfectly finished young jazz pianists around," said the Telegraph, "but Hamasyan stands out because he has something important and urgent to say." Hear it again or for the first time here.

Tigran Hamasyan performs "Lilac," from his Nonesuch debut album, Mockroot, at the ECHO Jazz 2016 Awards in Hamburg last month. Hamasyan won the award for International Instrumentalist of the Year, Piano. Among the other winners were James Farm and Brad Mehldau.

TIGRAN HAMASYAN TRIO
saw it as a challenge and tried to learn some of the songs on drums.
I’m now really delving into the depths of Armenian music as well as classical Indian, Chinese and Japanese music. This has helped me with my compositions and soloing by using different modes.
Finir la semaine en beauté avec Tigran Hamasyan (Kars 1 - Mockroot) encore un fabuleux concert et un verre sympa avec le groupe, Titouan Borazan et les autres...
