Ailey is from a coastal town in the north of the Shaftlands (near-ish to Briar valley, based sort of on Norway and also Newfoundland) her family has been the keepers of the lighthouse there for generations, her grandmother is merfolk and she’s always had a deep connection with the sea, being able to read currents, tides and is able to predict the weather with decent accuracy.

As a child she dreamed of becoming a great mage, magic was her hyperfixation and she dreamed of going to NRC (and was very disappointed to learn it was an all boys school), but her family was pretty non-magical so they tried to discourage her so she wouldn’t end up disappointed if she ended up being unable to do magic. Her hyperfixation ended up with her developing her unique magic at a very young age, but since it wasn’t flashy or particularly powerful seeming, her parents took it as her being a pretty weak mage and continued to discourage her.

On the other hand, she was taught to sail, canoe and fish by her father as soon as she was old enough, and she took to it immediately, eventually she started doing it competitively and won a couple of tournaments. Somehow her brain twisted this into assuming this was the only thing she’d ever be good at.

The lighthouse is fairly remote, at least an hour from the town, so they lived a pretty independent lifestyle, she learned to sew, cook, embroider, fish and clean and as the oldest child she also took care of her siblings, they didn’t have great internet connection and all they had was an old tv and a radio to connect with the outside world asides from driving into town (which they did occasionally to buy things like food, they got most of their furniture and clothes from thrift stores and relatives). And in the winters they’d get snowed in and the power would go out, but they still had to keep the lighthouse lit, and so they’d stay up late into the night doing textiles, playing board games and chatting, Ailey’s signature spell came in quite handy on those nights.

When she turned 16 her parents decided to indulge her and took her and the rest of their family out on vacation to Sage’s Island and in the islands to the south-ish. Because, once again, they assumed she’d never get into a magic school, but they wanted to do something nice for her before she got disappointed by never receiving an acceptance letter.

They stayed in the southern islands for a couple of days before they got onto a tour boat that would take them to Sage’s Island, unbeknownst to them (and they wouldn’t have gotten on that boat if their ocean senses had told them that their would be a storm) a merfolk overblotted, creating a storm. Ailey, wanting to help, casting her signature spell in an attempt to light the way through the water. This inadvertently attracted the phantom to their boat. The phantom split the boat in half, killing most of her family immediately and leaving the rest to drown. She was tossed aside and managed to survive by sheer luck, clinging to a broken piece of the boat, if she wasn’t part mer she wouldn’t have survived.

Eventually she washed up on Sage’s Island the day NRC was going to have their orientation. As she lay there on the beach she was visited by the black carriage (maybe by complete mistake) she, knowing exactly what it was but assuming she must be dreaming or dead, got into it.

She made it through the orientation ceremony without anyone figuring out her gender because of the giant robes. She was sorted into Savanaclaw and was assigned the same room as Ruggie (they roommates, not in a weird way). He was the first to discover she was a girl and took her to Leona with him (he was asking for a job lol) and Leona gave her money for clothes and such because she lost everything on that boat.

She was put in class 1. A. which is where she met Silver and then Kalim when he joined, Kalim is actually the reason they became friends, he saw the two quietest kids and said “they’re my new friends now! :)” and bam, they were friends.

She started out in the equestrian club, mostly because of Silver where she stayed for her first year before establishing the canoe club in her second year. This is also how she met Riddle and eventually Cater, who became decently good friends.

As she got closer to Silver, she also got to know the rest of Diasomnia, including Lilia, who took a liking to her.

The winter break of her first year, she decided to return to the lighthouse for the first time since the accident and Lilia volunteered to go with her (mostly because he could get to Briar Valley directly from the town via ferry). And she had a breakdown in her old bedroom after discovering that the house had been given to a distant cousin and her kids. Lilia decided then and there that this child was his now.

And here we are :)

I generally suck at making things in order and clarifying canon, but i try my best ^^; and that's good enough most of the time XD

Buuuut! I wanted to know: What is a major aspect of my 'twos/character's or their Universe/Story that you guys would like me to clarify, explain, or explain better?

I'm looking at patching up some info-holes with some comic art or single artworks :>

I signed up as an artist but I'm starting to get worried that if I draw what I want to draw nobody will claim it because this is a silmarillion centric event (or at least most of the people who participate only care about the silm) and my idea is Not That. Is there any way to gauge interest for things among the other participants so I don't make something that will go unclaimed or be someone's last choice? Nothing on the prompt sheet looked appealing to me

For at least the past three years, we’ve had 100% claims on the art. There is definitely an author for everyone. The anxiety can be high for artists, but everything has happily found a home in the past. If you’re still unsure, email us your idea and we can help ease your mind.

About the Mod

The person behind this blog is @cptsubby! I am a guy, and as you will quickly discover, I am hella cringe. However, I am also hella free.

Not available Monday-Saturday during the evenings (CST) due to work but otherwise available.

Fun fact before moving on: I was originally going to make a fanfiction with these kids, but I have been struggling to finish it and decided that an ask blog would be more fun. (took me ~3.3k words to make that revelation)

Stuff to Know Before Starting

This takes place approximately a year after the True Pacifist run.

All fallen humans are alive, though the blog will only focus on Frisk, Chara and Clover.

Frisk split their soul with Chara. As a result, both of them have only 10 HP and tend to get tired quicker. Alive and well otherwise, though.

I will not be using a textbox generator or art for ask responses. I cannot draw to save my life and textboxes are a bit restrictive of how I respond. Instead, I will use text colors to denote who is speaking. The colors will be as follows:
