hello! just wanted to start out by saying that i am not a system, but i'm writing a story and the main character has DID. is there any advice you would give on writing a system?

i really want to make sure i portray it properly, and i'm pretty worried about accidentally getting it wrong and offending people who have it.

Pretty much, I'd personally say these are a good rule of thumb? - avoid the murderous/evil/whatever alter/headmate trope like its the plague. Persecutors(Prosecutors AREN'T the same as evil headmates.

- Do your research on how it works, and if you are able, ask a DID system about clarification/have them as beta readers! Not a requierment, but it might help! - Just generally treat each headmate as separate people? Give each of them distinctive names, personalities, ages, appearences - write each headmate as if it was they're own person! Something we found might help, is just imagining them as people living on a apartment complex together. Each headmate is a separate character that operates within a group - remember that.

- The number of headmates doesn't really matter, but I recommend keeping it under 10 for your sake as a writer. Trust me, writing more than that will cause burn out.

Hey what's a term for being a system because of/effected by madd

System origin is called Paragenic.

Question: I have maladaptive daydreams and delusions that cause me to become different people.

When I have them, I am that person. Literally them with their memories and disorders and bodies and whatever. I act like them, I think like them, I speak like them.

When that's not happening I feel like 'myself' (some kind of weird space where I don't really process or feel things) but those other people are still there in my head and I can make them talk sometimes.

Can I call myself plural? Because I am technically multiple people in one body and swap between being those people. Also calling myself that would just be a lot easier than explaining all of this to people.

(And if I can't call myself plural then do have have any other suggestions of how to describe this mess?)

You can absolutely call yourself plural! Plurality isn't only the state of being complete separate, independant headmates, plurality comes in all shapes and sizes. Go for it, call yourself plural! /gen /pos

The best place to start is reading the symptoms and diagnostic criteria! It might help identify if the symptoms you're experiencing might be OSDD-1B! Here's some resources:

Is it possible for our thoughts to pretty much only belong to one headmate? Like no matter who's fronting, they have a hard time controlling the thoughts going through their head because the thoughts don't exactly belong to them they belong to the host

It might be another monoconscious thing but I was curious if other people were experiencing this

As another monoconcious system - absolutely. Most of our thoughts are shared, however, they are generally affected by our two hosts. So if G or W are feeling really strong emotions, they tend to bleed over to the rest of us. If they are thinking about something really, really loudly, the rest of us might have thoughts relating to that, too - or the same thought entirely.

Though, i do believe this is mostly a monoconcious experience.

are we actually a system. it feels like everyone here is all still just me. im conscious. i remember everything. but when im someone else i feel different. i feel like .. not me. but its still me. or is it me? is this real? please help. help.

Hey, friend. This sounds like a median system to us, and that's completely real. Sometimes, headmates aren't fully separate, or just feel like they blend into eachother. They are still people of their own, you just aren't fully separate. Like...connected minds!

hello! we're a median collective of 5,we don't have good communication with each other and we have amnesia between switches, is there any good way to strengthen our communication with each other? some of us are distant which makes it harder to contact and we don't front often (usually a few days where a headmate will front) so is there any tips?

Here's a few things that hopefully can help strengthen communication.

— IRL notes. Maybe a notebook where each one leaves a message, or.post its, or just a box to leave messages in.

— Twinote, an app that lets you post tweets from multiple accounts offline, to create your own, private ""twitter"" timeline! Might help organize communication and make it easier. One headmate tweets, other reacts or answers.

— Pluralkit and Discord, create a private server, proxies and just try and leave messages for your headmates to answer to with their own profiles!

— Meditation, concentrate on yourselves and on your headspace (if you have one, or just create a temporary ""space"") and try to gently nudge your headmates closer. Call out, talk. It'll get better with time.
