Erasing groups of gender nonconformity, especially drag queens, & writing them off as transphobic does nothing but harm trans women. All you are doing is not giving people the room to play around with their identity & see what they're comfortable with.

In a world with GNC men being ostracized, you are not "protecting" trans women from being too scared to leave the closet. You are erasing the safe place they can turn to that will help them figure out their identity, which in turn will leave more tfems unable to leave the closet.

If we keep battering down every word & community of GNC people because they are ""transphobic"" you are forcing trans people to basically come out immediately or stay in the closet. There is no room for exploration or baby steps.

(Also, GNC people deserve to exist, or course. I say this message in this way because I see too many people act as if allowing gender nonconformity to exist is somehow anti-transition. In actuality, you all demand too much from other trans people.)

Gender segregated sports was invented to keep women back, to throw them a crumb of equality.

They used deeply misogynistic talking points about how it'd be impossible for there to be mixed sports because women simply could NEVER perform as well as men.

Now, we see 'feminists' everywhere using the same talking points arguing to keep the thing invented to uphold the patriarchy.

This is what happens when you don't unlearn your viewpoints about groups you are not a part of. You chase others to the kill block as if you're not right behind them. You are not the judas goat you think you are.

It's more than just trans people, too. Bigotry of every type is ripe within feminist spaces, causing us to become entirely complicit in the oppression of everyone. If you don't care for the liberation of all, you are becoming complicit in everyones suffering under the societal systems in place. Even if you hijack anti-bigotry talking points to perpetuate your own.

those "afabs only" spaces piss me the fuck off. like, we know you mean pericis women(and occasionally nonbinary/androgynous/intersex people if they're The Right Kind of Queer)only. and it is what it is but why not just SAY women only instead of lumping trans men/mascs, nonbinary, and intersex people into "women lite" and, most importantly, EXCLUDING THE TRANS WOMEN THAT WOULD NEED THAT KIND OF SOLIDARITY THE MOST under the guise of being "progressive"????

if you REALLY wanted to be inclusive you'd say fem aligned or something like that. instead you're mis/malgendering the people who'd need support but not under that name, and pushing away the people who DO.

These spaces are "progressive" until you literally aren't a feminine pericis woman.

I've seen horror stories from every side. Trans men told they will be kicked onto the street if they start T, studs treated like utter trash, etc.

Truthfully, there is a weird relationship with people's view of queer people mixed with their view of femininity & masculinity. If you are not a "safe" femininity they are accostumed to, that happens to be queer, you're now just a "dangerous" masculine.

This happens to butches, bears, tmascs, tfems, etc. There is a very narrow view of feminine queerness that is "acceptable". The rest is seen as a danger to their pericisnormative worldview.

If this is your first or second year being on the internet (or at least being allowed to be):

•Don't bet caught up in discourse. You can speak your mind but being too involved forms an unhealthy attachment to an inherently toxic environment.

•Practice critical thinking

•Don't take the first thing you see and take it as fact and everything else as lies.

•Do your own research and form your own opinions.

• Stay open minded to others.

• Block people for any reason and don't feel bad.

• Your moots are just strangers online, you don't have to agree with everything they say or change your beliefs to match them. If your moot is acting toxic towards you and pressuring you to agree to a discourse stance (outside of a healthy discussion), block them. It's best for you. It's an unhealthy parasocial relationship to feel you have to conform to your moots.

• This one is more generalized but: don't trust any adults that are pressuring you into seeing them as a "safe" adult or as morally superior, somebody to blindly believe.

Uhm that's all I can think about to say as this psa... I realized that for a lot of you the state of tumblr is "babies first discourse", and it probably will fuck up how you go about interacting online and see situations online for years to come until you learn better from these toxic environments, so I wanted to put down a few things to try and promote good things that will keep you on the right path and not in a spiral of discourse and unhealth. If that makes sense.

Me not being allowed to call myself transfem in any way because I was afab, despite the fact that in order to Be a Woman I would need bottom surgery, breast implants, and voice training.

This is the result of rampant intersexism & transgynephobia within the community forcing people to believe there is One True Way to be trans.

Im intersex and was assigned dfab at birth but I grow facial hair and I do look a little naturally masculine and a while ago a woman saw me in a public restroom while i was looking at my chin cause i noticed i hadnt shaved a part of my face that morning and she completely flipped out on me. she had assumed i was a trans woman and it was one of the scariest moments of my life. i basically just ran away because she was starting to threaten physical violence (she said she was going to call her husband in to "deal with me"). its so scary out in public nowadays. people hate transfems so much theyll start attacking anyone they think is transfem. i hate it so much. all i can think is "there is nowhere safe for people like me who are visibly intersex or for transfems and its so unfair" it makes me want to scream and cry and curl up into a little ball forever. anyways i hope every transfem has a good day today and all transphobes explode 1 million times
