AT WORDS POETIC: PROJECT CANCELLATION
It is with a heavy heart that I officially announce the cancellation of this project. This has not been an easy decision and it’s not one I make lightly. A few reasons have contributed to this:
Lack of sufficient interest. Though not an official rule, I tend to aim for a minimum of 100 responses on interest checks before considering greenlighting a project. It's a good target number to gauge how many people will stick with the project given that zine's typically have very long production cycles (other factors such as consistent blogging, marketing etc. also contribute to this). At Words Poetic only garnered about 80 responses and though it's very close, this was after extending the interest check.
Dropping the ball. This is entirely my fault. I have noticed that this zine has slipped down my list of priorities and I have not been giving it sufficient time and effort to stay on top of things. While I'm not terribly behind on where I need to be (I haven't even begun to create the graphics for the mod intros and interest check which were supposed to be completed this weekend), it's not good form for the Head Moderator to not complete their own tasks on time. It's unfair to everyone—contributors, fellow mods and to the people interested in this project. I can say I am passionate about this project (and I am!) but that doesn't matter if my actions don't reflect my sentiments. A project can't be run well on passion alone and I uphold myself to a high standard that I've failed to meet twice over (both times with the mod applications. which, if you've read the zine rules, means that I would have been kicked out of the project.)
General life stress. I do work full time and that's stressful enough on it's own, especially this past month as year-end and all the fun (read: not fun) projects and disasters crop up. It's no excuse, but it is a factor that has gone into my decision to cancel this zine.
I apologize so much for any inconvenience I have caused and for messing up so thoroughly. I do hope that in the future, I may be able to restart this project in the future when I'm in a better place. I'll be keeping all the social media accounts and newsletter alive, so if you're interested in the hopeful revival of this project, you're free to subscribe to it.
Thank-you so much for the interest and support so far. It means so much and I'm so sorry I have failed to meet it.
Thank-you once more,
Coslyn
