The squeak of the mailbox door was loud and prominent, as Inko Midoriya watched her son open the mailbox with an excited look on his face, and then close it when he saw it empty. She had begged for him to come inside and eat a few times before, only for him to refuse and continue to open and close the mailbox.
Inko had been counting the days, and she was sure that the letter had gotten lost in the mail or something. It was five days late, and Hogwarts was never late. Alternatively, at least it was five days late from the date she had first received her letter in the mail all those years ago. Whatever the cause, Inko had come down to two conclusions.
One: Her son hadn't gotten accepted into Hogwarts.
Two: The letter had gotten lost in the mail.
Thinking about her son, she hated to believe so, but she was more so leaning towards the first reason rather than the second. Compare to his other wizard friends, Izuku had shown barely any magical power. Now, Inko found herself regretting the decision to even mention Hogwarts to her son. He had gotten so excited about it when it was possible that he hadn’t gotten accepted.
Unable to watch any longer, Inko walked down the driveway and to Izuku, placing her hand on his shoulder. "It’s time to go inside. It’s getting dark out, and you need to eat dinner."
"But what if my letter arrives? I won’t see the owl!" Izuku complained, opening the mailbox once more.
"We’ll check it tomorrow, first thing in the morning. Deal?" Her face softened as she saw the look of disappointment on her son’s face. "First thing in the morning, and after dinner?"
"Okay... deal."
––––––––––
They had checked both times, only to an empty mailbox. Inko watched as her son's heart broke, and his face fell. It appeared that she'd be sending him a regular school rather than the school of his dreams.
"I'm sorry, Izuku," she started, hearing her voice break for her son. "I really thought-"
Before she could finish, her son jumped up, pointing towards the sky. "Mama look!"
Inko's eyes went wide as she immediately recognized the figure, it was Toshinori Yagi. She wondered what his reason was for showing up, especially since her son hadn't been accepted into Hogwarts. As he landed, she asked just that.
"My sincerest apologies, Mrs. Midoriya! Your son's letter got lost due to a faulty owl, and I've come to personally deliver it!" He gave a grand pose, his muscly arms on his hips.
Inko's eyes briefly shifted to her son, who's jaw was on the floor. "It's Toshinori Yagi! He's only the greatest Auror ever! And he's standing in front of me!"
"That's no problem!" She hastily looked back to Toshinori and grabbed the letter, handing it to Izuku.
The two watched as he read over the pice of paper, all of his emotions clear. First confusion, then surprise, and the best part— pure joy. He jumped up and down, the letter clutched in his left hand. "I got in! I got in!"
Still, Inko couldn't help but wonder the reason for Toshinori Yagi's appearance. She'd recently read about his retirement as an Auror in both The Daily Prophet and The Quibbler, but she was sensing that there was something more here. Yet standing here with possibly one of the greatest Wizards of all time, it confused her.
However, it could've been the fact that she hadn't seen Toshinori in person since graduation at Hogwarts. They were part of different houses, so it wasn't like she saw him often, but that didn't stop all the rumors she heard about him. He'd gotten taller and stronger since then, that's for sure.

"Mister Yagi, why did you come with me to Diagon Alley instead of my Mom?" Izuku asked, still in awe of the magical things that were usually hidden from the real world.
"Good question, Young Midoriya! Please call me All Might, though." Toshinori grinned, patting the green-haired boy on the back.
"Right. Where'd you get the nickname?"
"It was a nickname my co-workers gave me in the Ministry of Magic. I got used to it, and now my real name seems formal!" He laughed at his own words, slowly becoming silent when he realized that Izuku wasn't laughing along.
"Anyways! We'll need to get your robes, textbooks, a pet if you want one, a wand... Do you plan on playing Quidditch?"
"What's that?"
A look of genuine surprise came upon Toshinori's face. "You've never heard about Quidditch? That's a shocker since your mother was at all of the games!"
Toshinori guided Izuku through all of the stores, knowing exactly where to stop for the finest supplies. His robes were a perfect fit, his textbooks were brand new- Izuku couldn't help but wonder how much all of this had cost. But before he could ask, he was swept into one of the many pet stores.
"Pick a pet, Young Midoriya!" All Might announced, gesturing his hands all around the store.
Izuku looked around, immediately drawn towards an Eostrix Owl, who's feathers stood upwards in a similar fashion to that of All Might. However, that dream was short-lived as the owl lunged at him when he approached it. He looked at the cats next, all of which paid no attention to a possible owner. As he examined the animals, Izuku couldn't help but feel as if no animal was truly calling him.
"All Might, what animal did you—“ Before he could finish, the green-haired boy came face to face with a toad covered Toshinori Yagi.
Surprised, Izuku jumped back, almost hitting his back against another owl cage. All Might stood proudly, one toad in each hand and two toads on each shoulder. They all croaked in unison as if calling Izuku to approach them.
"Young Midoriya! I used to have one of these when I was still a student! It looks like they still like me!" Toshinori laughed, Izuku awkwardly laughing with him this time. "Here, take one!"
Before he could protest, All Might placed on of the toads in his hands, and it let out a dry-sounding croak. Izuku watched the creature, tilting his head. He reached out with his other hand, using his index finger to gently rub the toad's back, and it let out a satisfactory croak.
"He likes you!" All Might announced, now toad-free.
"Yeah, I guess he does," Izuku smiled at the toad, watching as it climbed up his arm and rested on his shoulder. "Can I have him?"
"Of course you can! I've already paid!"
The next stop was getting a cauldron, which was relatively easy. Quidditch popped up again, and when All Might fully explained it, Izuku was over the moon with excitement to play. Without hesitation, he bought the boy a broom and they moved on to the final store: Olivander's.
"Now this is the best part," Toshinori began, fond memories clouding his mind. "Letting the wand chose you is truly magical, and this is the best place!"
A man appeared behind the desk, his hair was greying and his body looked rather frail. A smile came to his face when he saw All Might, but the more Izuku looked at him, it appeared to be more of a smirk than a smile.
"Back so soon? Did you break another wand, Toshinori?" The man asked, half-laughing as he spoke.
"Not today Olivander! Young Midoriya here needs to get his first wand!"
Olivander immediately rushed from behind his desk and grabbed a seemingly random wand from one of the many shelves. When he opened the black casing, a darker-wooded wand was revealed to Izuku's eyes. Gently, he took it from the box and handed it to the young wizard, urging him to try it. The wand, as expected on a first try, didn't work. Before Izuku could even process what was happening, he was given another wand, this one of a much lighter color.
"The second wand it is!" All Might announced when he saw Izuku perfectly cast the spell Lumos. "I've never seen someone get a wand so quickly! It usually takes four or five times, even thirty on occasion!"
"That one's made of hornbeam wood, with a phoenix feather core. It's ten and three-fourths inches. Pretty flexible too." Olivander explained, accepting the gold galleons that All Might was giving to him.
"It's been a productive day! I've got to get you home before your mother starts to worry." Izuku nodded and followed Toshinori back to the exit. This was truly an experience he'd never forget.
––––––––––
"Why'd you go out of your way to deliver that letter to that boy, All Might?" Hizashi Yamada, the Head of Gryffindor house, asked.
"I don't know why, but I see so much of myself in Young Midoriya. You can barely sense any magic energy from him, but such a powerful wand chose him! You'd have to see it with your own eyes." Toshinori explained, a smile on his face.
"If that's the route he's taking, he might be stronger than you!" Hizashi joked, his laugh sounding like it had been amplified through three speakers.
"I wouldn't be surprised if he did."
"He better stay out of trouble," Shota Aizawa, Head of Ravenclaw, added. "Unless he's really like you. Then trouble will come to him."
"I wasn't that much of troublemaker." Toshinori defended, rolling his eyes.
"Sure. Just remember that our house never won the House Cup because of you!" Hizashi teased, wounding Toshinori's pride a little bit.
“That doesn't matter! The boy will do better than me, I know it."
She was extremely confused the first time she floated a few rubber bands just by looking at them. The rubber bands had floated upwards until they touched the ceiling- and when they did, they went tumbling back towards the ground. Screaming, she had run to her parents who were just as confused.
When she went to school the next day, when she tried to explain it to her friends and schoolmates, they all didn't believe her. Although one friend in particular took it differently.
Instead, she took her aside and explained to the confused Ochako that she, was possibly a witch. She found it hard to believe at first, but when more weird "magical" things started to happen around her, it was highly possible that it was true. Seeing as there was no other explanation, she decided to believe it.
This morning, she had accidentally bent a fork completely backward until it's two ends touched one another- just by looking at it. At this point, her parents had just accepted the weird things, since there wasn't really anything they could do about it.
Realizing that she could no longer eat her breakfast, she frowned. "Sorry,"
Her mother gave her a knew fork and handed the other to her father, who tried to bend it back into it's normal state. When he failed, he free-threw the piece of metal into the trash can across the kitchen.
"Sometimes, I wish I was normal..." Ochako mumbled to herself, not intending for her parents to hear.
"Come on, just because you can do things that aren't necessarily... normal, doesn't mean that you're a bad person," her father answered, ruffling her hair. "Besides, it was that girl in your class that explained everything, right? So, she must be the same."
"Yeah, except I can't talk to all of my other friends about it... They thought I was crazy enough just talking about the rubber bands." She frowned, pushing the plate of food in front of her away.
"Then why don't you-" her mother had started saying something when a loud "thump" noise was heard. Stopping mid-sentence, she turned to look at her daughter and husband. "What was that?"
The sound of... Pecking? Was it pecking? Ochako couldn't really tell, but regardless, the noise of whatever had filled the kitchen. She looked around before noticing her father, who had his jaw to the floor.
"Is that...? Is that an owl?" her father asked, his mouth still open.
Immediately, he got up and rushed to the window. As he opened it, in flew a white owl with golden-like spots all over it. That wasn't the surprising part, though, because this owl had a letter in his beak.
Her mother panicked and demanded that no such animal should be in the kitchen, but Ochako had managed to calm her mother down enough that she wouldn't burst into tears and continue yelling. All looking over to the owl, who had just dropped the letter in its beak on the counter, it flew off, leaving the family extremely confused.
"What was that?" her mother half-screeched, straightening her posture in the process.
Running his hands through his hair, her father shook his head, "I honestly don't even know what happened, or how to explain it."
Whilst the two parents were discussing, Ochako had grabbed the letter off the counter and was reading it's front.
Ms. Ochako Uraraka
Third Room to The Left, First Floor
714 Reiner Avenue
Bradford
"It's addressed to... Me?" Staring at the wax seal, she looked to both of her parents, who were still conversing over the owl. She debated whether or not to open it, but her curiosity got the best of her, and she ripped it open.
Quickly unfolding the letter, she read over it to herself, her eyes widening ever so slowly in the process. When she finished, both of her arms fell to her sides, as she slowly began to comprehend all that was said to her.
"Mommy! Daddy! I'm a witch!" Both of her parents paused the their conversation, their heads moving in her direction.
"A what...?"
"A witch!" Ochako exclaimed again, this time jumping up and down.
Finally, it all made sense to her. The floating rubber bands, the spoon bending- it was all due to magical powers that she was highly skeptical about. And now, she'd just been accepted into one of the most prestigious schools! As excitement boiled inside her, it suddenly became obvious to her that she had no idea if she could even attend, or where to get any of the supplies listed.
Looking to her parents, Ochako handed them the letter, seeing as they should probably read it for themselves. When they both finished, they looked at eachother before to their daughter.
"As much as we want you to attend," her mother started.
"We don't know any of this stuff, and it seems complicated." her father finished, setting the letter down.
The small sparkle in her eyes faded, as reality had dawned upon her. "Oh. Okay..."
Seeing how their daughter was so upset about it, they thought that maybe this was good for her. Get her to experience what they didn't... What it's like to be a witch, or whatever it was.
"Remember that friend of yours...? Maybe she can help us out, though," her mother added, making Ochako smile widely.
"Really?" She asked, wanting to make sure that she wasn't just hearing things.
"Really."
Ochako dashed around Diagon Alley, after quickly thanking her friend on how to get there, and all of the information she needed for attending Hogwarts. Her father, who was slightly slower, found it hard to keep up with his energetic daughter.
They'd first decided to buy her robes, and went to one of the shops showing them in the windows. It had taken awhile to find one that was her size, but when she did- it was practically love at first sight. The cotton it was made of was possibly the softest thing she'd probably ever touched.
Her father smiled at her reactions and went to the counter, his daughter following behind. "That'll be four gold galleons," the cashier stated, waiting for the coins to be handed to him.
Instead, her father paused, an eyebrow raising, "Gold galleons?" The cashier rolled his eyes, annoyed.
"Yeah, gold galleons. What are you? A muggle-born? A normal muggle?" The cashier laughed, shoving him aside slightly. "Look, if you're that clueless, go to Gringotts Bank. They'll get you some currency."
"Thank you!" her father yelled, taking Ochako's hand and guiding her out of the line. He took the uniforms out of her small hands and set them on the nearby shelf. "Follow me."
She nodded and followed her father out of the store and round-about Diagon Alley. When he stopped, she tilted her head upwards, trying to read the Sign dangling above her head. 'Gringotts Bank'
As she followed her father inside, she couldn't help but stare at all of the goblins so focused on their work. Her father stopped in front of one and asked for a money exchange.
"I'm guess you're a muggle then?" the goblin said, his voice raspy and hoarse.
Her father nodded, shyly scratching the back of his neck. "Yeah..."
"Well, what are you waiting for? Hand over the money!" screeched the goblin in front of them.
Anxiously, he pulled out his wallet and set a few hundred pounds on the marble desk, before the goblin took it. He went around the back with the small stack of pounds, before returning with a medium sized sack of gold galleons and a few leftover sickles.
"Thank you," her father said, taking the bag. He looked around for Ochako, before finding her near the door, holding it open for everyone who was entering or exiting.
Although she was normally rather patient, Ochako was starting to get agitated that whatever wand Olivander handed to her to try, it wouldn't do what she wanted it to do. It was safe to say that she'd gone through over fifteen wands, each rejecting her in a different way. First, the spell backfired on her, but the next thing she new, the wand wouldn't even do anything for her.
Handed another wand, Ochako took a deep breath, reminding herself that she would eventually find one. To her dismay, this one was not hers either. With a sigh, Olivander gave her a significantly shorter wand, compared to the ones she'd preciously been given.
"Wingardium Leviosa." She closed her eyes, ready to hear an explosion-like sound and to open her eyes to something broken.
However, this time silence was the only thing ringing through her ears. Opening her eyes, Ochako saw the small object floating in front of her wide eyes. "It worked!"
She squealed and jumped around the room, a huge smile on her face. Staring at her wand, it was 9 1/2 inches long, with a triangular cut Tanzanite jewel attached to the button of its hilt. Similarly to a sword, her wand possessed a rain guard- which stuck out to around a centimeter on both sides and curled slightly downwards into a small spiral.
The wand itself was extremely flexible, and could be bent so far back that the two ends could practically touch each other. It was made with Pear Wood with Unicorn Hair core, with spiral like designs carved lightly into its wood.
"Finally found the one," Olivander let out a breath, a subtle smile on his face. "That'll be six gold galleons, please."
Her father paid the amount requested, before walking out of the store, and Diagon Alley, with his daughter. As they walked home, he couldn't help but smile whenever he looked down at his beautiful baby girl.
The annoying sound of pounding on the door was barely enough to wake Katsuki up. It was his father, pounding on the door- a letter addressed to him in hand.
"Let me sleep," he grumbled, turning over and burying his head in his pillow.
"Let me in, Katsuki."
His father opened the door, his arms crossed with a letter in his left hand. He stood in front of his son's bed, looking down at him. "Up, up, up time to go!"
His Dad simultaneously clapped his hands, making it harder for Katsuki to try and fall asleep again. Giving up, he rolled over and faced his Dad, removing his pillow from his face in the process.
"Okay, I'm up..." He yawned, rubbing his eyes and sitting up.
He moved his head, looking at his father. Pleased with waking him son up- without getting hurt- his father handed him the letter in his hand. "Go on now, read it aloud."
He took the letter from his Dad and read the front of it to himself.
Mr. K. Bakugou
The First Room to the Right
898 Whirlter Lane
Manchester
With an eye-roll, Katsuki ripped the letter open, reading it aloud like his father wanted. As he read what was in front of him, his eyebrows moved to certain positions, showing his reactions to certain things.
"Wasn't this that stupid school that you and Mom went to?" he asked, looking up from the letter and to his father after reading all of it.
"Yes, it is. However, now, it's your turn to go. So, get dressed and ready! We're heading to Diagon Alley straight after breakfast!" his father exclaimed excitedly, before shutting the door and leaving Katsuki alone in his room.
With a groan, Katsuki got up from his bed and dug around through his closet, looking for something reasonably decent. After he found what he wanted, he checked himself in the mirror, wanting to make sure he didn't look like an idiot.
Satisfied, he left his room and went for breakfast, seeing as his hunger was starting to become evident to him. With a yawn, he sat at the breakfast table, his head resting on his hand. Within a few minutes, his Dad put a plate of food in front of him.
"Where's Mom?" Katsuki grumbled, forking his food and eating it.
"She had to work early this morning, she'll be home later tonight." His Dad plopped himself in front of his son, eating the same thing.
"You're going so slow! Why can't you hurry up and buy the damned owl already?" Katsuki complained, throwing his head back in boredom.
"It would be much faster if you told me which one you wanted," his father answered, a hint of annoyance to his voice.
He groaned and went over to his Dad, looking at the selection of owls in front of him. They all looked boring to him, nothing appealing to his crimson eyes. He was about to turn away and look for a cat, when a owl in a sperate cage from the others caught his eye.
This owl, unlike it's nearby "friends", was a midnight black with a white patch around his eyes. Katsuki could swear that if the white patch had been there, it would look like the thing had no eyes. Upon a closer look, the feathers on the under part of his wings were also white.
A smirk appeared on his face, as he grabbed his father's shirt and tugged it with force. Startled, his Dad turned to face him, almost loosing his balance in the process.
"Yes? Have you found one?" he asked, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
"Yeah, I want that one."
A worried look appeared on his father's face as he nervously began to scratch the back of his neck. "Are you sure...? It's got a violent warning."
"I want this one," Katsuki confirmed, causing his father to sigh.
"Whatever you want."
As the two walked out of the pet shop, they went to buy what else was on the list. First the uniform, which angered Katsuki due to the fact it was taking so long- followed by everything else, that wasn't horribly bad.
Suddenly, his father stopped in front of him, causing Katsuki to run into his back. "Hey! What the hell-"
He stopped mid-sentence, realizing why his father had suddenly stopped. There standing in front of him, in all it's glory, was the infamous Olivander's wand shop. Excitement welled up inside of him, as he grabbed his father's wrist and dragged him into the shop.
"Ah, Katsuki, slow down!" his father cried, adjusting his glasses and regaining his posture.
Surrounding them, were all sorts of wands, all incased in different colored cases. Too busy staring at all of the wands, Katsuki hadn't noticed the man with a soft voice standing near the two of them. Olivander.
His father nudged him, causing him to look up and see the man. "Who're you?"
"I'm here to help you with your wand- picking it..." The man said, fidgeting with his thumbs.
Katsuki scoffed slightly, crossing his arms. "Let's get with it then!"
The man rushed around the store, and came back a few seconds later with an encased wand. He handed it to him, "Vine wood, Phoenix Feather core,"
Carefully, he removed the wand from it's case and swished it around. However instead of yelling a spell, he simply shouted: "DIE!"
To his dismay, the "spell" backfired and broke the nearby vase. With another quick flick of a wand, Olivander fixed his vase with "Repairo".
"Not that..." he mumbled, quickly putting the wand back and digging around for another one.
Within the next thirty minutes or so, Katsuki was about ready to snap every single wand in this fricking store. None of the wands would pick him, and he was starting to loose the very little patience he had.
Getting down to the last straw, he violently grabbed the wand from it's case and yelled a random spell. He half-expected it to backfire, however, this time the spell actually worked. Wanting to make sure it wasn't a fluke, he cast another spell, for it it to work again.
This wand was made from Holly wood, reaching eleven and 1/4th inches in height. It had a Dragon Heartstrings core, with a carved skull near at it's end. From it's handle, the was a small crook, causing the tip to be about a centimeter lower than it's handle.
After purchasing the wand the two went home, with Katsuki gradually becoming best friends with his owl on the way back- to his father's amusement.
Whilst he was younger, he watched his older brother, on his eleventh birthday, receive a letter in the mail. Today was that day- today was his eleventh birthday, and he was dying to see what that letter in the mail was all about.
He'd gotten a brief explanation from his parents before, but not enough that he could completely comprehend and understand. When he tried to ask his brother, he gave him the same, brief answers.
Rushing down the stairs almost immediately after he awoke, Tenya ran into the kitchen. When he arrived, his family started singing "Happy Birthday" as loud as they possibly could.
"Dad, can I go get the mail?" he asked excitedly.
His father chuckled and ruffled Tenya's hair, "Yeah, go ahead."
Throwing his hands into the air, he rushed outside and rapidly opened the mailbox, digging through the letters. After a decent two minutes, he found a letter addressed to him.
Mr. Tenya Iida
The Second Room to The Right
Second Floor
1782 Roundit Street
London
"I got it!" he shouted, running inside. "I got the letter!"
When he ran into the kitchen, for the second time that day, holding his letter in the air. Quickly, he set the other items in his hands down, before ripping his letter open. He sat down, reading his letter aloud to his family.
"Is this the letter that you received?" he asked, looking up to his brother.
He nodded, "I was almost sure that you'd be accepted, but I didn't want to get your hopes up before we truly knew."
Tenya knew he was a wizard, coming from a pure-blood family, but he wasn't expecting to get accepted into Hogwarts. Excitement burst through him, as he jumped up and down.
"It says that we need to go shopping for books and supplies! When do we get to do that? And where?" His stomach growled, reminding him that he hadn't eaten yet.
"Tomorrow, we'll head to Diagon Alley," Tensei, Tenya's older brother, answered. Tenya nodded excitedly, as he started eating his breakfast.
The next morning, after the two brothers woke up, Tensei helped his younger brother write a letter to Hogwarts and send it by owl. He chuckled as he watched Tenya's reactions, as it reminded him of when he received his Hogwarts letter, and when he mailed his first letter to Hogwarts by owl. Getting dressed and ready, the two headed out to Diagon Alley.
Diagon Alley was rather crowded this morning, so Tenya remained close to his brother, not wanting to get lost. He had his hands tightly gripped on his brother's sleeve as he followed him.
The first store they walked into was a bookstore. While Tensei was searching for a specific book, he sent his younger brother on a mission, looking for another school book. As he wandered around, Tenya searched the shelves, looking it. The shelves housed numerous books, each having similar, yet different covers. Different cover colors, different designs, it amazed him.
When he finally found the book he was looking for, with his dark green hard-cover, he reported back to Tensei, who had found what he was looking for. "Find it?" he asked, causing Tenya to nod.
The next hour was spent collecting books, quills, different ink colors, his cauldron, his uniform, his owl- you name it. However, Tensei was saving the best for last. Receiving your wand. When he first stopped by Diagon Alley, he bought his wand first, but he wanted to make sure the his little brother got the excitement and anticipation that he hadn't.
"Here we are Tenya, Olivander's. Best place to get wands, ever. It's where I got mine." He looked to his brother, who was rubbing his stiff hands together.
"I'm ready," he stated as he adjusted his glasses.
The two walked through, looking at all of the wands stacked shelves high, all the way to the roof. Within a few minutes, Olivander appeared, looking at the two. "Looking for a wand, yes?"
Tenya nodded, bowing. "Yes, yes, remember, the wand chooses the wizard!" Olivander stated with his soft voice.
Wand after wand, they went though, with Tinsei watching from behind. By this point, he'd probably gone through at least four or five. "This is definitely the one," Olivander handed the case to him, and he opened it.
Tenya attempted to cast a simple spell, surprised when it actually worked properly. "This is my wand...?" he asked, looking to his brother to confirm. Tinsei nodded, patting his back.
His wand was twelve inches long, made of Vine wood and from a dragon heartstrings core. It was rigid, yet somewhat springy, but not too much. It's handle smooth and easy to grip, with vine-like designs around it's tip, heading downward. However, the vine designs didn't touch the handle at all.
They paid six gold galleons for the wand before leaving Olivander's, and heading back home. Eager to get ahead with his studies, Tenya rushed up to his room with the books and his wand, already beginning to study and read the material.
"He's just like you, Tensei," his father commented, chuckling.
"Well, then he'll be a Gryffindor," his mother stated.
Tensei turned around, facing his parents. "No, Tenya will be a Ravenclaw. No doubt about it."
