If you don't mind me asking, what is anti-cringe culture exactly and what is this debate with lgbtq+? :o What I got, from a "scene" standpoint, was that it's an anti-bullying step against outsiders. But, I can see how it applies to others, since anything that isn't normal or trendy is seen as cringy. I think a lot of the hate for scene alone comes from former scene/emo kids (especially hardcore band guys who are anti-gay culture and now associate themselves with metal bcuz masculinity.)
anti cringe culture is basically a movement to stop making fun of people for enjoying themselves. this especially applies to children because they will often take any and all criticism (whether it’s valid or not) to heart, and it’s really really damaging to their self esteem and creativity. there are many facets of this, including but not limited to: homophobia, ableism, transphobia, and ageism. you’ll see “cringe culture is dead” posts a lot around here because most of us have been & still are made fun of for benign things like our sexuality, gender, interests, etc. why make fun of someone’s identity that isn’t hurting anyone? why make fun of the way someone expresses themselves just because someone else doesn’t like it? just like.. leave kids alone man they’re already going thru enough, u feel me?
