Steve: You didn’t do anything!
Jordan: Exactly!
How to validate someone's gender ✅
Use their pronouns
Use their name
Let them talk freely about their gender experiences
Support them if/when they struggle with dysphoria
Correct other people who misgender/deadname them
How NOT to validate someone's gender 🚫
"Youre valid no matter what!!"
"Youre such a strong/handsome/masculine guy!"
"Youre the most womanly woman"
"I cant tell that youre trans"
Theres more to add, but i think you get the point. While these things are generally well-intentioned, they are completely useless and often make trans people feel cheap and uncomfortable. These phrases are largely unhelpful. They feel shallow and sometimes condescending or belittling. If you want to be an ally and support your trans friends, then do tangible acts (like i listed above) instead of using empty words
i dont know how we can help you beyond pointing things out so uhh. *glows like a flashlight*?
“Wait--! I think this thing has a--” Gordon pokes at the buttons on his suit.
“YEAH! Gordon flashlight!” He cheers. “Thanks for the reminder!”
