So I have a Hyuuga OC. She isn't the most talented fighter, but an excellent scouter that makes money by scouting uncharted lands and mapping out safe routes for merchants and travelers. Is this plausible? I think the Hyuuga clan would demand a big portion of the money she makes bc they greedy buttfaces
I think the basic idea has a good backbone! But you have to take note of the hierarchical job system they have going — if your OC is a clan member, which simply means if they are of a notable family name, or just not an orphan, then they have to be connected to that family in some form. Which means then, that whatever operation and/or specialty your OC develops would be known to the elders of the clan — and given family expectations, might even be a deviation from the usual Hyuuga m.o.. As for a cut of what she makes, I think this economic model would be entirely up to your design, since iirc, we don’t even know how individual shinobi with no clan gets paid.
Do we? Eh. More space for us.
As for the plausibility of her job, I think it might be interesting to consider if she’s working as a shinobi bureaucrat with that exact skillset. After all, it’s not much use to map out safe routes if the bandits/danger isn’t static, no? But she can be doing it for ANBU surveillance — sorta in the ground-sweeping, preparatory stage of any big ANBU operation. You know those blueprints of buildings, maps of the area, with indications of here’s a trapdoor, there’s a good exit point, etc.? That could be your OC’s job, working inside the shinobi system instead of on the receiving end of the job system.
Good luck and have fun!!
