All the excitement and eagerness to get there had finally settled into a nervous uneasiness in the pit of your stomach. Lance gently squeezed your hand, bringing your thoughts back to reality. You both stood in front of the door to his house, somewhere you weren’t sure you’d be at until now.
Lance tried to act composed for your sake, but you could tell he was about to burst with happiness. “Are you ready?”
You swallowed back your fears that his family wouldn’t like you and nodded. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”
He couldn’t hold back a grin as he ringed the doorbell. The initial greeting was happy, emotional, and a bit hard to follow with so many people there, but you had expected as much. You were now all inside and able to talk to everyone without all of the commotion and you were glad.You had learned some spanish before coming, and you could hold a conversation, but it was a bit difficult to understand when everyone was talking at one.
Lance’s niece came up to you and sat on the empty couch cushion next to you. “¿Eres una princesa?”
You couldn’t help but giggle a bit at her question, she had asked if you were a princess. At the same time, Lance had heard the question and scooted over, ready to translate for you. He had just opened his mouth but you were quicker. “No. No soy una princesa-”
“Wait, when did you learn that!?” Lance cut you off before you had a chance to finish your answer. He stared at you with wide eyes and a slight smile.
“Oh, well… I learned a little bit in school, but I learned most of it on my own! I guess I just wanted to surprise you- woah!” One second you were sitting on the couch and the next you were spinning around in Lance’s arms.
“That’s amazing! How much do you know? Will you talk to me in Spanish!?” He finally stopped spinning you around and set you back on the floor with a grin stretching across his face.
“I suppose I can try, but what do you want me to say?” You smiled up at him, his reaction being more than you’d hoped for.
Lance looked like he was on cloud nine. “I don’t know, anything!”
“Well if that’s the case…” You gave him a quick kiss on the lips. “Te amo.”
A small gasp escaped his lips and surprise was evident on his face. Sure you two had told each other you loved each other before, but for him to hear it in Spanish felt like something entirely new. Before you knew what was happening, his lips crashed against yours. For a moment you were lost in the kiss, you eyes closed as you leaned into him. That is, until you heard noises of disgust from behind you.
You turned around to see Lance’s niece and nephew making grossed out faces and complaints before running out of the room. “Really guys!? We were having a moment!” A giggle escaped your lips before Lance cupped your cheek, tilting you head back to face him. “Just ignore them. For now, just focus on me.”
A voice called out from the kitchen, it was Lance’s mother. “No, for now you should focus on setting the table for dinner. You can have your moment later.”
You couldn’t help but laugh and press your face into Lance’s shoulder. Lance, on the other hand, held you close with a small pout. “Oh come on!” He let out a sigh and kissed the top of your head. “I guess we’ll just have to cuddle after dinner to make up for this, but until then… te amo.”
The rest of the evening was filled with happy conversation, laughter, and Lance asking you to speak to him in spanish. You messed up a few times, but even then he continued to gush about how proud he was of you, and how much he loved you of course. Just as he had promised, through, your day ended with cuddles and whispers of sweet nothings into the night.

I’m really sorry about being inactive for so long, these past few months have been really hard on me, but I plan on coming back!
