Season 9 Finalists’ Portfolio Review (Part 1)
Hi guys!
It is now the time for me to evaluate our Top 2 finalists’ overall journey this season based on their photos they have taken in the competition.
Here we go!
Photo Shoot #1: Designer Look Book
Jessica
Simone
Evaluation: Jessica had the better photo compared to Simone. She looks more relaxed and sure of herself. Simone’s shot is pretty but it does look quite tentative.
Score so far:
Jessica-1
Simone- 0
Photo Shoot #2: Pantene Ad
Jessica
Simone
Evaluation: Although Jessica’s film was more consistent that week, I actually prefer Simone’s photo. It looks more striking as a hair ad.
Score so far:
Jessica-1
Simone- 1
Photo Shoot #3: Action Movie Star
Jessica
Simone
Evaluation: I’m not too impressed with either of them here but I prefer Jessica’s body positioning; It looks more energetic than Simone’s.
Score so far:
Jessica-2
Simone- 1
Photo Shoot #4: Intimacy with Ryan
Jessica
Simone
Evaluation: Simone shared great chemistry with Ryan but Jessica took it to a whole other level. Jessica delivered more of an editorial quality to her picture and I love that.
Score so far:
Jessica-3
Simone- 1
Photo Shoot #5: Frozen Editorial
Jessica
Simone
Evaluation: Both of them were among the best models that week. Their poses were dynamic and they interpreted the gowns very well. However, I do prefer Simone’s picture.
Score so far:
Jessica-3
Simone- 2
Photo Shoot #6: Swimsuit Resort Editorial
Jessica
Simone
Evaluation: Simone’s picture looks more like an ad campaign whereas Jessica’s shot looks more high fashion. It is extremely difficult to decide who’s shot I prefer but Simone edged Jessica out slightly due to what this photo shoot concept demands.
Score so far:
Jessica-3
Simone- 3
Part 2 of the Performance Review will be posted tomorrow on Friday. The winner will also be announced tomorrow. See you then!
Much love,
FNTMbarbie 💕
Designer Look Book #11: Victoria
Here is Victoria’s best shot:
Finalists’ Portfolio Review (Part 2) and Winner Announcement!
Hi everyone!
Welcome to Part 2 of my assessment of Cindy and Veronica’s overall journey throughout this competition. Since I have paused at the Cosmetics Ad Campaign shoot, I will now proceed with the subsequent shoots:
Photo Shoot #7 Fallen Angels
Cindy
Veronica
Deliberation: I was very impressed with both of them. I admire how graceful Cindy looks but Veronica brings a certain edge to her shot to the point where I think she beats Cindy out by an inch here.
Score so far:
Cindy- 4
Veronica- 4
Photo Shoot #8 Jewellery Ad
Cindy
Veronica
Deliberation: Cindy’s photo looks more like a jewellery ad to me whereas Veronica’s looks like a test shot for an ad campaign. I think it’s because of her eyes; They don’t look as present compared to Cindy’s eye contact.
Score so far:
Cindy- 5
Veronica- 4
Photo Shoot #9 Fashion Careers
Cindy
Veronica
Deliberation: Cindy did a fantastic job this week for winning the go-see challenge and kicking butt in the photo shoot. Veronica looks great here too but her pose looks slightly contrived to me.
Score so far:
Cindy- 6
Veronica- 4
Photo Shoot #10 Wind and Water Hair Ad
Wind
Cindy
Veronica
Deliberation: Veronica performed leaps and bounds over the other contestants this week. This shot especially looks like an ad that could run in every magazine and could appear on billboards everywhere. Cindy’s photo is very strong as well but it doesn’t quite match up to Veronica’s.
Score so far:
Cindy- 6
Veronica- 5
Water
Cindy
Veronica
Deliberation: I felt more of a connection when looking at Veronica’s picture compared to Cindy’s. They both brought a sense of softness and fragility in their photos but Veronica has more presence in hers.
Score so far:
Cindy- 6
Veronica- 6
Photo Shoot #11 Colors
Cindy
Veronica
Deliberation: Both photos can be used for any clothing company out there but I think Cindy delivered a more cohesive photo compared to Veronica. Veronica looks like she could inject a little bit more vigour into her pose.
Score so far:
Cindy- 7
Veronica- 6
Photo Shoot #12 Color Blocking Magazine
Photo A
Cindy
Veronica
Deliberation: This was honestly a tough week to judge because I was very impressed with both of their performances this week. I cannot pick one over the other, so, I am giving both of them a point each.
Score so far:
Cindy- 8
Veronica- 7
Photo B
Cindy
Veronica
Deliberation: Great shots once again from both models. I like the fact that Cindy gave something different in her shot compared to her first one but if I am basing their performance on this particular set of photos, Veronica has body language down.
Score so far:
Cindy- 8
Veronica- 8
Overall Decision:
1. In terms of their portfolio, they are both on equal footing to me. But I can’t crown two winners this season. Thus, I have to consider their overall potential to succeed in the modeling industry and how they had performed in the challenges as well as how their entire film in each photo shoot looked.
2. For Cindy, her look is very classic but she can be molded easily based on whatever theme she is given. She can be styled very soft and girly but she can also be quite edgy and high fashion. Cindy started out the competition at the middle of the pack and hit her first peak in the Handbag Ad Campaign shoot. Afterwards, she plateaued in the Catalog shoot and the Cosmetics Ad Campaign shoot but picked herself back up in the subsequent weeks and won best performance 3 times since then. For the cons, I do think Cindy can appear a little bland sometimes in the face and at times, she needed to exaggerate her features a little more to stand out in photos.
3. For Veronica, I’ve always been a champion of her modern look that is very much relevant by today’s industry standards. She has very high fashion features and she likes to take a lot of risks when it comes to her poses. Veronica was pretty inconsistent during the first half of the season. One week she is within the Top 3 and the next week she would fall down towards the bottom half of the bunch. From the Fashion Careers shoot onward, she established herself as one of the girls to beat and even won best cumulative performance in the Wind and Water Hair Ad shoot. For the cons, Veronica sometimes would lose focus and rely on modeling 101 poses but she has been working hard to overcome this in the second half of the competition.
That being said, I have to make a decision. And I am going to reveal the winner right now!
The winner of Florinda’s Next Top Model Season 10 will walk away with a modeling contract with a Top Modeling Agency. She will also be on the cover of Elle Magazine and will have a 4 page spread in the magazine. Lastly, she will be the newest face of the Barbie brand.
Florinda’s Next Top Model is.....
VERONICA!
Congratulations Veronica! I am so proud of her and she absolutely deserved to win this season. I also want to congratulate Cindy for a job well done and for giving Veronica a run for her money. This is definitely not the last we will see of her.
Here is the summary table of the entire call-out order in Season 10:
I will be shooting Veronica for her Elle Magazine Cover and spread next week. The theme of the shoot is Hello Kitty and she will be sporting outfits and accessories based on this theme.
Please be on the lookout for that. So there you have it guys! Veronica is the winner of FNTM Season 10. Please like, share or comment down below on what you think about Veronica’s win? Are you satisfied with it or did you prefer Cindy or anyone else to win?
Next week, I will also be posting details about the next Season of photos I will be posting and will be explaining on some small changes to how I will be structuring my posts in the future. I will also announce the winner of the Social Media Star award for Season 10 sometime next week and she will win a special prize as well.
Much love,
FNTMbarbie 💕
Finalists’ Portfolio Review
Hi guys!
I meant to start the review yesterday but I was busy with other work. So sorry about that if you were wondering!
Since we are down to our 2 finalists, Cindy and Veronica, it is now the time for me to evaluate their overall journey this season based on their photos and their performance in certain challenges.
Here we go!
Photo Shoot #1: True Beauty
Cindy
Veronica
Evaluation: Both Cindy and Veronica presented us with good pictures in their first week of competition. I find Veronica’s close-up to be stronger but I prefer Cindy’s body language. Veronica’s is a little bit too posy.
Score so far:
Cindy-1
Veronica- 0
Photo Shoot #2: Social Media Celebrities
Cindy
Veronica
Evaluation: Both models stepped it up a notch this week. They managed to successfully portray their respective themes well. I just think that Veronica stands out more in her shot.
Score so far:
Cindy- 1
Veronica- 1
Photo Shoot #3: Barbie Fashion Week
Cindy
Veronica
Evaluation: Cindy edged out Veronica in this shoot by a slight margin. I think Cindy looks great in her outfit but there were some technical aspects she needed to work on and as for Veronica, her pose was underwhelming to me.
Score so far:
Cindy- 2
Veronica- 1
Photo Shoot #4: Handbag Ad Campaign
Cindy
Veronica
Evaluation: I am a huge fan of both shots; They look very high fashion and confident. Veronica’s photo is super dynamic and Cindy’s shot is just stunning and full of interesting angles. I’m giving this one to Cindy.
Score so far:
Cindy- 3
Veronica- 1
Photo Shoot #5: Catalog
Cindy
Veronica
Evaluation: This one is a little tricky to judge as there are 3 sub-photos making up this composite. Overall, I am quite disappointed in both their photos. All 3 of Cindy’s shots are mediocre at best and Veronica has 1 great shot and 2 bad ones. It’s a tie for me.
Score so far:
Cindy- 4
Veronica- 2
Photo Shoot #6: Cosmetics (Individual and Pair)
Individual
Cindy
Veronica
Evaluation: Cindy’s photo is very pretty and it’s definitely a workable shot but Veronica definitely takes the cake here. It looks more like an ad to me. Score so far: Cindy- 4 Veronica- 3
Paired with Heidi Klum
Cindy
Veronica
Evaluation: Veronica actually managed to outshine Heidi in her shot but I don’t think Cindy did her best to hold her own against Heidi. But generally, both models have very modelesque looks and it’s hard for either of them to take a bad picture.
Score so far:
Cindy- 4 Veronica- 3
Part 2 of the Performance Review will be posted tomorrow on Saturday. The winner will also be announced tomorrow. See you then!
Much love,
FNTMbarbie 💕
Harper’s Bazaar #6: Whitney
Here is Whitney’s best shot:
Hair Ad (Water) #4: Veronica
Here is Veronica’s best shot:
Overall critique:
- Another strong performance from Veronica this week. Even if her arms seem to look over-posed here, I don’t mind them because they actually frame the shot quite nicely. But I would want for her to not have the fingers on her right hand buried too deep into her hair
- Another critique I have is her dress; This picture doesn’t do the dress justice because I can’t see much of its shape. However, going back to the positives, her close-up is illuminating here. Veronica looks feminine and strong at the same time and it’s nice to see her with very straight hair for a change
