Middle Earth in the Modern World | Legolas | Finals

A/n Helloooooo and welcome to my new write-whenever-it-comes-to-mind series of drabbles, Middle Earth in the Modern World! I didn’t mean to write this, and in fact, I really shouldn’t have, given the amount of work I’ve got lined up for today. But I know I’m in finals season, and I know a lot of my followers are as well, so I accidentally wrote this during class! Enjoy :)

Pairing: Legolas x gender-neutral reader

Word count: 370

Long, blond hair tickles my shoulder as Legolas leans over, scrutinizing the computer I hold in my lap. “What are you doing?”

I fight the urge to groan. “Homework, what else?” It’s all I do these days.

“Still?” Legolas narrows his eyes and reaches a hand forward, poking the laptop. Dark spots shoot out from where his finger connects with the screen, and he makes a startled noise.

I can’t help but laugh. “Are you trying to break my computer?”

He cranes his neck to look at me hopefully. “If I break it, will you be done with homework?”

“Not likely.” I exhale slowly, exhaustion weighing me down. Finals season is no joke. “I’ve got three papers left, two exams to study for, and on top of that, all this busy work. And it’s all due in the next two weeks.”

Legolas straightens, running a hand over my cheek before plopping down on the couch next to me. He throws an arm over my shoulder, pulling me into his side. I allow my head to roll onto his chest and close my eyes, fighting the urge to immediately fall asleep. I’ve been awake for hours. His fingers run a soothing trail up my arm, not at all helping my resolve to stay alert.

“It’s late,” he mutters, lips falling close to my ear. “In fact, it’s squarely in the early morning. You’ve been at this all day. Come to bed with me. I’ll help you study tomorrow.”

I mumble something, though to my ears, it doesn’t entirely sound coherent. My vision darkens as I press my face further into Legolas’ chest.

A click as my computer shuts. The couch shifts and I whine, missing my warm pillow, but then I’m lifted into the air and held against him once more.

“Wake me up at six,” I mumble into his neck.

I’m deposited into the fluffy coziness of our bed, the duvet tucked securely around my shoulders.

“I’ll wake you at eight,” Legolas counters, sliding into bed behind me.

I want to protest, but between his warmth, the comfort of the bed, and my exhaustion, the words seem to die away.

Eight o’clock is fine.

And I sink into much-needed sleep.
