Hallo friend. This is kinda inspired by one of my own characters, but what are your thoughts on the possibility/existence of salmons-inkling (or Octoling) hybrids?

I think a Salmonid/Inkling or Salmonid/Octoling hybrid isn’t remotely possible through conventional means. While Octolings and Inklings could potentially be compatible to make a chimera, it’s hard telling if said chimera would be able to survive, or would be very stable. After all, squids and octopuses, while similar, are very different. Salmonids are simply not compatible with cephalopods at all, so no breeding would take place, and they simply would not be able to have children. But it’s possible that they could still have some sort of relationship, even if it’s not on a physical level! Adoption is always an option in that regard.

However being made in a lab, it’s very very possible! Considering what the Octolings can make through Octarians, not to mention Kamabo Corporation and whatever Tartar does to himself, it’s not much of a stretch to think that there’s a scientist crazy enough out there to try and make a cepholopod-salmonid hybrid. It might be difficult to make them stable however, since cephalopods as a whole are ink-based, and Salmonids aren’t. They’re still very very solid, to the point where they can’t change form like cephalopods do. They still have bones, after all! But once they’ve got it right, that kind of combination could be scary.

I do like the idea a lot!
