Mitosis AU – Doey the Doughman’s Fragmented Remains
Well, now that they’re three separate entities, things have gotten... complicated.
🔨 Kevin is trying to break down a locked door using Matthew as a hammer. Matthew, ever the optimist (or just concussed beyond reason), is convinced that this time he definitely felt it budge. (Spoiler: He didn’t.) 😵💫💫
👀 Meanwhile, Matthew and Kevin are in full paranoia mode.
They skulk through hallways; slam doors shut and press themselves against walls like they’re in some kind of stealth mission 🎭. Meanwhile, Jack? He’s just walking straight ahead, completely unaware—or maybe just too lost in thought to care. 🚶💭
😢 Jack is off in a corner, hugging what little remains of the past, whispering apologies to no one in particular.
For what? Who knows. But it’s sad, and we all feel bad. 💙💔
🎭 And then there are the disguises…
Because obviously, slightly off-looking versions of those cheerful critters will totally fool everyone. 🐤🐺 Never mind that they’re stiff, awkward, and so visibly uncomfortable. But hey—A+ for effort, right? ⭐✨

Part 1 -> Part 2
This is part 3 and the last part.
This fic takes place right after they were frozen and 'died'. The player character left to find Poppy and Kissy missy.
Skipping details from part 1 and 2 from sections that I already mentioned.
This part focuses on Moey :)
-------------------------------------------
There were three times when Moey hated being himself.
The first time was when he was relocated to a different section of the orphanage. The caretakers said it was because he is old enough to be alone and he's different from the other kids. While also giving him difficult and time consuming tasks, which occupied his every waking moment.
Maybe that is what it means to be a mature child. You forget yourself and do what you are told without question.
The second time he hated being himself was when the caretakers looked at him for answers when it came to the other kids.
Looking back is a clear sign of how dysfunctional the orphanage really was. The caretakers should know what the children's needs are and how to deal with them, since they are literally paid to do it.
But maybe they were tired. Unlikely
Nevertheless Moey always felt awkward when the adults turned to look at him for answers.
The last time Moey hated being himself was when he was chosen for 'adoption.' He wished he had never been born.
He didn't ask for any of this to happen, but he must keep up the appearance or they will be punished.
He can handle this, he can do this.
He will keep them safe and together, no matter what.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Moey feels fire on his side, he drags his consciousness from the freezing abyss back to real life.
The moment he is fully aware of what is going on he starts to panic. He looks to his side to see Joey and Koey sleeping. He quickly checks over them.
They are freezing, their skin is too solid and rough.
Joey's face is almost completely covered in ice. Koey isn't moving anymore.
Moey is panicking as he tries to pull himself out of Doey. He needs to get them out of here and to safety.
Moey raises his fist and smashes it down towards doey, breaking the clay under his feet.
Once Moey has broken the last of his connection to doey, he does the same for Joey and Koey. It goes well, thanks to the clay being frozen and easily breakable.
Moey lifts Joey and Koey, then he books it away to a warmer place. While he sprinted through the rooms, he felt Koey and Joey snuggled closer to him.
It didn't take long for him to find an abandoned area, where they could rest and heal. Moey placed the two younger ones on top of something soft.
He then searched the area. There was a blanket that he put on Joey and Koey. He kept looking and found a map. Very undetailed one, but still a map of each floor of this faculty, it could help them finally leave this place.
Now that there was nothing holding them back.
Moey started to scheme an escape plan. He didn't get very far until Koey woke up.
Even if he and Koey didn't get along in the orphanage and they had trouble harmonizing as Doey. But Koey is still a child.
So Moey did what he always does to make sure that he is alright and explained the whole situation. To let the information settle in Koey's mind, he went hunting.
Looking back, he probably didn't need to tell Koey that he almost died, right after waking up. Thankfully he is a fast learner, so when Joey wakes up Moey should only comfort him.
It has been hours since Koey left to go hunt and Moey became increasingly worried because Joey still hasn't woken up.
So when Joey finally woke up, Moey didn't wait and brought Joey into a crushing hug.
Koey appeared moments later with the food and bad influence.
After eating they made their way to the orphanage. The door incident happened that Moey feels too embarrassed to even mention.
In the orphanage Moey noticed that Koey seemed uncomfortable, so he asked him about it and told Koey that he didn't have to be here. Moey still remembers how Koey fought against every caretaker and how he was put in isolation for days.
It would make sense why Koey wouldn't want to be here. What he didn't expect was for him to learn more about Koey's lack of experience about being cared for.
The implications were not subtle at all and gave Moey an uneasy feeling. Nevertheless that didn't stop Moey from reassuring Koey until he confessed to him that he also wanted to leave this place just like how Joey wanted to go home.
After they found the exit pipes, it didn't take long until they were at the last floor. Strangely, the prototype hasn't been doing anything to stop them.
Moey and Koey are both sure that it has something to do with Poppy, Kissy and the adult. They are probably being killed off or are doing something to kill the prototype. Either way it has given them the perfect moment to leave.
Walking through the last hallway until they are at the reception area that leads straight to outside.
On the way Joey starts to hold Moey's hand. Moey in turn squeezes his hand as a sign that Joey is not alone. While Koey is destroying the cameras and dismantling the security system.
"Are we there yet?" Joey asks.
"Not yet," Moey says.
.
.
.
"Are we there yet?" Joey asks.
"Not yet, Joey," Moey says.
"Are we there yet?" Joey asks.
Koey jumps out the vents and lands in front of the two, "No the fuck we are not,"
"Koey, please watch your language,"
"No I won't," Koeys says with pride.
The three of them fall silent, and they continue their journey. One step at a time they get closer and closer to freedom.
When they finally make it to the reception area, Moey and Koey look around the place for any sign of traps. While Joey looks around, everything looks the same as when he first entered the factory.
"I can't believe it, we made it," Joey says, while looking at the Huggy Wuggy poster. Joey starts to tear up, while looking at the old and dusty furniture.
"This place is not what I expected," Moey says.
"Yeah, I thought it would be nicer and cleaner," Koey says mockingly.
When they are in front of the door, they start to doubt if they should even leave.
Sure, this place has been hell, but also their home for decades.
Could they abandon this place that easily?
The answer is yes, with the encouragement of the large explosion that each of them can hear clearly.
Koey and Moey don't waste a second as they bust the door open while holding Joey.
They keep running while the building behind them is burnt to nothing. They continue running until they don't feel the fire behind them.
Once they think they are at a safe distance, they stop and catch their breath.
Moey and Koey look behind them to see the walls of fire. They then look at each other and nod. They need to keep moving or the fire is going to catch up to them.
They turn to look at Joey, who is not focusing on the fire, instead he is looking up. Moey and Koey follow Joey's lead and also look up.
They are all surprised by the night sky, especially the stars.
Joey starts to sob, while looking at the stars. He had almost forgotten how they looked. The grass beneath his paw shaped legs is soft and so familiar. The air feels nice and not toxic.
Koey is mesmerized by the beauty and the size of the sky. He always imagined that the sky is small with only a few dozen stars, not with billions.
Moey feels small under the stars. As if the universe is looking at him, for some reason that though brings him a little bit of hope. He's not alone, Moey brings Joey to a side hug and lets him cry on his shoulder.
Moey looks behind the burning building. A wave of relief washes over him as he sees it get destroyed.
He looks at Koey who is still admiring the stars, then at Joey who has clung to his side. Moey lifts Joey, so he can carry him, while taking Koey's hand.
He doesn't know where he is going, he isn't even sure what they are going to do. But after everything they have experienced. Moey knows that it can't be worse than what they experienced in playtime co.
They will survive and find their place in this world.
One thing I find really cute about Max in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is how he always starts singing love songs to Zoey when she’s vulnerable or doing something that isn’t traditionally romantic or anything. I was sold on this ship in the very first episode, because Max starts singing a heart song, something that supposedly only happens when characters feel very strong or intense emotions, to Zoey while she’s asking her tech team to start journaling. And she’s not even doing it well. She’s at her dorkiest and all Max can think is “I’m so in love with her.”
