Fox + bee + bug mashup who runs the menagerie and eats more carnival food than she sells. Four arms for double-fisting snacks AND cracking whips.

💸 Greed = sleezy jester businessman.
Think shady ring accountant who smiles through every scam. The little lizard sidekick keeps track of every coin.
5. Lust – Fire Spinner Asmodeus
🔥 Lust ring performer / fire spinner redesign.
Mix of bird, bull and goat with fire-like hair that never really goes out. Heart motifs, smug grin, and always ready to steal the spotlight.
6. Envy – Leviathan Acrobat
🌊 Envy / Leviathan acrobat.
Used to look like a perfect angelic twin, now split into a glamorous mer-acrobat and a smoky sea-monster half. Envious, dramatic, and always ready to upstage everyone on the high wire.

Candle-goat demon who lives in a haze of sleepy smoke. Motherly until you interrupt nap time—then the cards turn on you.

In this AU, the Smiling Critters franchise was reimagined by Playtime Co. during a time when they wanted to appeal to an older teen demographic.
To “age up” the series, they gave the characters edgier, more mature redesigns and storylines. Instead of cheerful life lessons, the Edgy Critters reflect darker, more complex emotions—like self-doubt, burnout, obsession, and rebellion.
The tone is more intense, with sleek or gritty visuals, heavier music, and more dramatic themes—meant to give the franchise a “cool” and “mature” image without losing its mascot roots.
🐶 DogDay – The Broken Hero
Once the bright leader, now a lone wolf. Wears the weight of expectations and burnout. Paranoid, determined, and a bit unstable, but still fighting to “be the hero.”
🐱 CatNap – The Sleepless Shadow
Quiet and restless, he’s lost his calm energy. His powers revolve around sleepless nights, eerie stillness, and creeping thoughts.
🐻 Bobby BearHug – Obsessive Affection
Love turned too intense. Smiles a little too wide, hugs a little too long. A representation of clinging and needing control.
🐥 Kickin’ Chicken – The Burnout
Jittery, fast-talking, running on empty energy. Tries to stay upbeat but cracks are showing.
🐰 Hoppy Hopscotch – Fight Over Flight
Strength twisted into aggression. Always ready to lash out, hiding fear with power.
🐷 Picky Piggy – Control Freak
What was once about simply enjoying meals and eating became an obsession. Obsessed with food and stuffing her face.
🦄 CraftyCorn – The Masked Performer
Cheerfulness turned hollow. Their smile is painted on, hiding the fear of being forgotten.
🐘 Bubba Bubbaphant – The Silent Genius
The soft giant is now cold and calculating. Smiles less, speaks less, and always has a plan.
⚡ In this AU, the Edgy Critters were designed not to teach, but to entertain older audiences with “mature” themes and stylized darkness—part marketing, part cautionary tale.
Over a thousand years ago, Mozoch was an ancient and powerful wizard who sought ultimate control over the land. His magic was said to rival the forces of the stars themselves. But when his power threatened to consume everything, he was confronted—not by the Smiling Critters—but by the ancestors of DogDay and CatNap, powerful guardians chosen to protect the balance of magic.
Through a fierce battle, they sealed 90% of Mozoch’s power inside two enchanted necklaces. Powerless and defeated, Mozoch was banished to his crumbling tower, where he has remained for centuries, a shadow of his former self.
For generations, the necklaces lay hidden… until modern times. One day, DogDay accidentally cracked his pendant, releasing a faint pulse of Mozoch’s trapped magic.
Mozoch felt it instantly.
Now, awakened and fueled by obsession, the old wizard schemes to track down and reclaim the necklaces, convinced this is his moment to finally return to full strength.

I’ve been working on a small personal project — a group of original characters based around the four seasons, each representing a different era, aesthetic, and personality tied to nature’s cycles.
They’re designed to feel like mythical caretakers of the year, each keeping balance over their season’s energy.
❄️ Madame Frostvite (Winter)
An ancient caretaker of frost and stillness. Her presence brings quiet nights, frozen lakes, and the soft hum of snowstorms. Despite her cold exterior, she’s deeply protective of the natural world during its rest.
🌸 Bloomina (Spring)
Cheerful, curious, and full of life. She’s constantly tending to sprouts, coaxing flowers to bloom, and encouraging new beginnings. Her laughter literally makes the petals open.
🌴 Ka’i Palmtheart (Summer)
The embodiment of sunlight and joy. A warm, relaxed spirit who brings waves, music, and long days. Loves life, beaches, and celebration — the heart of endless summer.
🎃 Jackworth (Autumn)
A scarecrow guardian of harvest and twilight. He’s mischievous yet wise, guiding crops to ripen and leading spirits safely through the changing season. His pumpkin head glows brighter the closer it gets to the equinox.
🍁 Together, they keep the cycle of the year turning — passing the world gently from one season’s care to the next. 🌷
