Painted Dog

Painted dog - A presentation term for butches who enjoy presenting femininely on occasion, but do not consider this in conflict with their butchness, or consider themselves any sort of futch.

general thoughts on why I chose a painted dog / african wild dog. um. i like them. im a butch who presently femininely sometimes and doesnt like being called futch. dogs are associated with masculinity a lot. "painted" feels a bit like makeup and dressing up in a feminine way, but it's still paint, so isn't a core part of your main identity. yay. i love african wild dogs. did you know they are have the highest hunt success rate of any mammal. The problem with how progressives often react to conservative accusations of "they're preforming bottom surgery on minors" is the fact that even though nobody is preforming bottom surgery on minors, we should be. There is no medical reason someone should have to wait until eighteen until bottom surgery, and children have certainly died or been harmed because they had to wait years to even start exploring surgical transition (especially with how easy it is to recover from options like hysterectomy, orchiectomy, or nullification). If we want to protect trans children we shouldn't be forcing them through medical gatekeeping. Especially when intersex children are having their genitals permanently mutilated when they are too young to consent, for no medical reason at all.

Nobody is preforming bottom surgery on minors but we should be.

Now, you don't HAVE to use my meanings; these are just the ones that I've personally applied to the colours (from top to bottom).

Baby Blue / Pastel Blue - Being a woman / Being female Babt Pink / Pastel Pink - Being a man / Being male (Yes, I swapped the colour gender thing--technically it's just what it was originally though...) White - No meaning! Just there Pastel Purple - Being both female & male, whether it's simultaneously, separate & at the same time, in between, or a mix of the two. Pastel Yellow - Neutrality / Being in between or even outside of entirely / Fluidity between male & female Pastel Green - Diverse gender expression; whether it's being traditionally masculine, traditionally feminine, androgynous, neutral, gender fuckery, cross dressing, etc

Now, for the moths. Honestly, I only put them in because I love moths and those are my favourite species (Chinese Moon Moth) but there is some symbolic meaning!! These moths' sexes are typically distinguished by their colour. Green + pink usually means male and blue/green usually means female. So, I put both moths on it to represent being both!! I may also make a version with a single moth with both colours!!

The symbol of the sun was chosen because without the sunlight we wouldn't have a rainbow in the first place :) it represents endless possibilities, both visible and not.
