the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.

when i was around 13 i was sent to the mental health ward of the hospital for an evaluation to see if i needed to be admitted. they asked me about my home situation and after i told them i didn't feel safe with the people i was living with (or with myself), they asked my parent if they thought i was safe to go home. of course they said yes, and i wasn't admitted, as the doctors decided i was safe to go home since clearly my parent knows more about me than i do. i know the mental health system in australia sucks but this was what made me never want to interact with it again.
