Completed 3year diploma in design with Honours at the Shillito Design School, Sydney 1978 Post Graduate studies HDFA, in Printmaking at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, London. In 1985 awarded a Monbusho 2year Graduate Research Scholarship for Printmaking to Japan with specialization in Traditional Japanese Woodblock at The Tokyo National University of Fine Art, Japan. Lecturer in Printmaking at TAFE NSW, Slade School of Fine Art London, National Art School Sydney, Canberra School of Art ANU, COFA UNSW, and Art Centers in Sydney. Currently specializing in Traditional Japanese Woodblock Printing with workshops and summer schools at APW, Melbourne and print workshops in Sydney and regional NSW. Exhibited in International Print Biennales and representation by galleries in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Japan, Norway, and USA. Currently director of The Stables Print Studio, Galston, conducting master classes in traditional Japanese woodblock printing methods and other related relief printmaking. The first presenter will be Mel Cheong (Cheong Hoi I) Advisor of International Mokuhanga Association (Asia Region), President of Macau Woodblock Print Association and Secretary General of the Printmaking Research Center of Macau, 2021 Arts for Good Fellowship (Singapore) Her works have been exhibited in China, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Portugal, Russia, Spain, and Taiwan, etc. Engaged in design, printmaking education, children's education, etc., and actively study the possibilities of printmaking in daily applications, Mel has also participated in many overseas artists' residency programs and actively curate projects for Macao artists engage in overseas exhibitions.
