7. okay so A) *gestures under the cut* but also in general, I am proud of my ability to write "technically canon-compliant" pieces. Is it canon? Well canon doesn't expressly say that -- but it doesn't not say it either. Canon-plausible. But that's less me building world and more... building bridges. For my longfic (boo, I'm so sorry, I love you, I'll come back someday, I swear), I'm really pleased with the way I elaborated on fe3h's magic system? It's little things, but like the way that Fódlan-style white magic is tied into faith and connection to the goddess, etc. Outside of canon, I have a couple of really neat AUs that I think a lot about but haven't managed to coalesce into a physical form intended for human consumption. Someday, though, the world will know the soulmates/werewolf AU. which I think has cool worldbuilding.

26. this is a complicated one because I consider dialogue to be one of my strengths, and it's usually my starting point for a lot of fics/scenes, so I'm loathe to do away with it entirely; however, I also think that what makes dialogue successful a lot of the time is context, and without supplementary details like body language, dialogue can become rather stale. So, overall, no dialogue, because there's still a variety of ways to make characters and stories "speak."

34. All of it and none of it, which feels like a cryptic bullshit answer but is also true. I don't think anything I've written (and shared) has been a direct 1-to-1 "personal life story" or "this actually happened to me" situation, but the Little ThingsTM that I see people do often make their way in. How people stand when they're waiting. What they do with their hands. The way their hair falls. Lopsided smiles. Unspoken looks across rooms. Hands. That kind of stuff.

HI. PLEASE READ THIS PIECE.

It's got fae, it's got hanahaki, it's got hurt with mild comfort and an ambiguous ending, please I am so sad that this is not more popular. I recognize that this is akin to me waving a very sharp knife and asking why no one will come close to me, but this piece has some of my all-time favorite imagery, word choice, and storytelling. It is cool.

40. hell yeah, I re-read everything. My fics, your fics, fics I liked, fics I respected and wanted to learn from. What worked? What didn't? Did I Already Use This Exact Description Before? I make my food for myself, and that means I get to eat it as many times as I want to. Plus, it helps with continuity and learning. Rereading great.

Sam’s Ace in the Hole

Bucky curls up close to Tony hands roaming freely over the curve of his hip and up the slope of his back as they watch the end of The Mummy. Sensual touch is so nice when they both know it's not going anywhere. They've both been in relationships with partners who weren't Ace and liked it just fine, but they really both enjoy the lack of sexual tension in their relationship. It's nice knowing that Bucky can run his hands over his fella’s ass and not have to worry about his partner getting the wrong idea.

Speaking of.

Bucky's hand cups his Tony's ample ass and kisses gently up the length of Tony's jaw, but before it can lead into a heated make out session and into some intense post make out cuddles, Sam stomps into the common room.

Bucky and Tony both look up from where they are delightfully entwined. "Sexiled again, sugarbean?" Tony says softly.

"Yes." Sam's pout is sort of adorable, but Bucky is never gonna let him know that. Sam is an entirely sex-repulsed Ace in a happy loving relationship with his sex crazed boyfriends (who are very respectful of Sam's boundaries), so he often finds himself sexiled to the common room of the tower. It's endlessly amusing to watch Sam pout about not getting enough sleep, because his "sex fiends" are at it again.

Bucky knows, Sam is just being dramatic, because the only actual sex fiends in the tower have to have their floor rebuilt almost constantly due to breakage. Thor and Steve do not know the meaning of gentle. Or quiet. Which is why Tony had their floor sound proofed.

"Wanna cuddle with us until they come drag you away for your intense post coital cuddle?" Bucky asks lightly with an edge of teasing in his voice.

Sam rolls his eyes, but relaxes immediately. "Please?"

Tony opens his arms and Sam dives right into them, snuggling into his side. Tony is Sam's favorite cuddle partner outside of his boyfriends and he doesn't mind Bucky too much either when he's not being a punk. Bucky's big arms wrap around them both and Sam relaxes into their combined heat.

It’s nice to know he has other Aces he can turn to.

"Fifth Element?" Bucky says soft.

Tony giggles and Sam laughs "Yes please."

Ruby Rhod is Tony and Sam's favorite character to cuddle up and watch.

JARVIS cues the movie and Sam and Tony talk along with the characters in perfect unison. Bucky smiles down at them and hums contently, loving the feeling of Tony cuddled in his lap happy as can be. Bucky absentmindedly draws patterns along Tony's side under his shirt, enjoying the feeling of his warm soft skin. He loves watching them act out the different parts, squabbling over who gets to say Leeloo’s lines.

An hour into their sweet cuddle session Sam's two very sated looking boyfriends trounce into the living room looking for their third. They both look externally put out that Tony and Bucky have stolen their boyfriend yet again.

"You know you can't actually have him, right Tones? We just let you borrow him. He's ours." Rhodey says mock jealous.

"I don't know Buck, do you think we could take 'em?"

"Definitely, Sam run away with us!" Bucky lets out, dramatically pulling the two of them closer into his arms, mock glaring at Rhodey and T'Challa.

"Tony, you better give me back our boyfriend!" Rhodey says snarling playfully.

Tony tightens his hold on a laughing Sam, pulling him behind Tony.

"Never! He's ours to cuddle for all eternity! HA-HA!" Tony exclaims chucking a pillow at Rhodey. "He's ours now, Honey-Bear!"

T'Challa advances on the trio still lounging on the couch menacingly. Tony jumps up and tickle attacks T'Challa trying to stop him from reaching Sam. He spouts out ridiculous things that make Sam double over with laughter.

"I will protect you fair Prince, from the terrible Sex Fiend Duo, your honor shall be avenged!"  Which has both T'Challa and Rhodey trying to hold back their laughter while still looking as menacing as possible.

Tony manages to get a few good tickles in, before T'Challa declares "You are no match for me Iron Maiden, I shall steal away the treasured Prince and there's nothing you can do to stop me!"

"Back villain!" Tony cries grabbing a up one of the many couch cushions, trying to smack T'Challa with it. But as Bucky suspected, Sam makes a terrible Prince, because he falls to the floor in hysterical laughter and conveniently out of Tony's protective bubble.

Bucky loves watching his fella this happy, so he intercepts T'Challa's lunge for Sam with a pillow to his face, shouting "For the TREASURED PRINCE’S HONOR!"

Tony cackles and Rhodey leaps for him over the couch and it breaks out into an all out pillow fight which ends with them all tangled together on the floor laughing hysterically. Which is what the rest of the team walk in to find. Pillow feathers everywhere and Sam nearly dying from laughter as he clutches his stomach.

Then Rhodey lets out a crow of triumph "I got him." and he lifts a still giggling Sam into his arms. Rhodey runs from the room cackling with T'Challa hot on his heels, Tony shouting after them "You may have won this round Fiends, but the battle for the Treasured Prince is not over!"

Bucky hears the three of them laughing all the way down the hallway as he falls back into the mound of pillows and pillow feathers. Bucky smiles a mile wide and pulls Tony down into the newly created nest for some cuddles.

"You are the biggest dork to ever live." Bucky whispers into his hair while the rest of the Avengers are left gaping in confusion.

"But you love me right?"

"Oh yeah, love my Iron Maiden."

"Love you too, Jerk." Tony huffs cuddling into Bucky's side.

Clint ruins the moment by squawking, "What the hell happened in here, did the five of you murder a herd of Ostriches?"

Bucky just snickers and cuddles Tony further into the pile of feathers.

Til they Sparkle & Shine

I am supposed to be working on my Exchange or my Double Trouble Fic or even the next chapter on my Lightning Au so of course this random shit happened instead...  Enjoy? -Dreamy

Tony had hired the best window cleaning services in New York he could find. When you owned one of the tallest buildings in the city you wanted it to look fancy okay.

Tony paid them ten times their asking price, because they did such a damn amazing job. The washers at Barnes & Rogers Window Cleaning Service made his employees smile and he could afford it. Not to mention all the washers were absolutely gorgeous. (one in particular he could think of)

He’d heard talk when he’d first gone in to sign a contract with them that they jokingly wanted to call it their business Barnes & Noble but the bookstore would have sued the pants off ‘em. When he’d met Steve, the Rogers portion of the founders he understood why.

Of course he had one request, that for his personal and R&D floors only their most trusted window washer was allowed to clean with NDA signed in advance. Steve had grinned at him like a devil and said he would send his best guy.

Tony had let Pepper handle the rest paper work, but sometimes he wished he’d asked just exactly who it was Steve had decided to send for his floors in particular.

Because he was by far the most gorgeous and distracting man the world had to offer. The blue eyed well muscled god who washed his windows was dangerous to his health,

He was beautiful (with or without his shirt), long brown locks tied up in a man bun usually wrapped up in tight v-necks and short shorts that showed off ridiculous thighs. Toting an impressive metal arm and dear god he was sweet too.

Sometimes Dum-E would roll up to the window and tap on the glass and the Metal Armed God would tap back with the most stunning smile on his face. Dum-E’s robotic little claw would chase after the squeegee the man wielded for hours if he was allowed. Mr. Dangerous played with Dum-E one day for  a solid 20 minutes and Tony had been helpless but to fall in love.

Today happened to be a lucky 98 degrees outside, so his favorite window washer was sweaty and shirtless cleaning his windows. Tony was concerned a little that it was too hot to be out cleaning today, but sue him if he was a little distracted and hadn’t been able to focus now for a solid 15 minutes.

But eventually his concern got the best of him and he dialed the number for Barnes & Rogers as he stared out of the corner of his eye. He nearly dropped the phone when he watched droplets from the mans water bottle spill a little to dribble down the most sinfully sculpted pectorals.

“Hello? This is Steve Rogers speaking.”  Tony realized the voice on the other end was trying to get his attention and had been doing so for a couple of minutes.

“Yes sorry, this Tony Stark calling wondering what your workers are doing out in this heat. I thought it said in the contract I signed that they wouldn’t work  in conditions that would risk their health.”

“You did. Nobody should be washing today we aren’t scheduled until later in the week when it’s due to cool off.” Steve sounded like he was trying not to laugh which considering the situation Tony didn’t think was warranted.

“Wait What?! Do you have a brown haired metal armed gentleman in your employ?” He asked worried he had finally let his heart libido create a security breach.

Steve’s deep laughter sounded from over the phone. “Not as a window washer no.”

Tony sucked in air ready to freak out, but Rogers continued with a fond sounding sigh, “Bucky. That would be the Barnes portion of our company title.”

“Why is your co-founder washing my windows? Shirtless?”

“Because he’s an idiot who can’t talk to the man he has a crush on.” Steve said sounding smug as fuck.

“Oh.”

“Yeah. Oh. Hey Tony? Break his heart and all your personal windows will be mysteriously covered in glitter and bird shit.”

Then abruptly he heard the tell-tale click of being hung up on.

Tony was a little to distracted to care. He picked up the marker he sometimes used to write ideas on the windows when he got too antsy.

Tony approached the window and wrote out mirror-style: “Do you want to go for coffee some time?”

The ma- Bucky almost fell over side of the window rig. Blushing Bucky quickly recovered and in suds wrote out, “I’d love to.”

They stared at each other like idiots for a while, just smiling.

Best investment Tony ever made.

Her bones rattle and shake, as the ghosts shes made up of begin to scream. They aren’t hers. They are the ghosts of former friends, former lovers, former abusers. They rattle at her ribcage and howl out of her mouth in silences too deep.

They eat the images of her former selves, feeding on her current incarnations misery. Always hungry. Ghosts are never current. Current means change, moving tides, rippling waters. Water passes right through them. They are steeped in former, in pain, in past. Shes tired of being their prison, of being their food source, of being weighed down by the chains they bare.

Shes tired of feeling intangible, shes tired of them trying to turn her into a ghost. To be stuck in their muck and misery.

She yearns to be the future, the current that rushes into the unending ocean of the cosmos. She wants to be the Change in the universe’s pocket. The catalyst, the event that sets the ripples in motion and when she falls into the water she wants to be swept up in the pulsing, raging river.

No longer the figment of His imagination or the convient tool in Her toolbox or the passing moment in Their day. She is not a Ghost and she will not let Them make her into one of Theirs. She is not somone else’s passing memory.

Shes is the current. The electricity, the charge. The burning fire in the stars.

She is.
