Being a Stay at Home Parent is Hard, and That's OK.
Oh my God, only 20 more days until the kids go back to school. My youngest will be going full day for the first time, instead of half days. 🎉 This summer has been a challenge, to say the least. I started out with such grand plans, beach days, adventure, hiking, ect. They start squabbling in the morning and it just depletes my energy. Being a stay at home Mommy is tough enough, but throw in some fatigue from Multiple Sclerosis, and boy what an uphill battle. I have been working with a therapist to not beat myself up for my physical limitations, but it is still frustrating. I just want to let any other stay at home parents, with or without chronic illnesses know: it is the hardest job on Earth, and if you vent to someone, which you need to do once in a while, it does not mean you love your kids or spouse any less. These feelings are normal. I have sat in the middle of the kitchen floor sobbing, because I have had those really hard days. I am still a great Mom, so are you (or Dad)! So hang in there, you are doing an amazing job. I appreciate all that you do everyday. All those little jobs no one but you noticed, like cleaning the walls, I appreciate. If you make it through the day and do nothing, but keep those little buggers alive, then great job! Any Mom that seems to have her shit together and does everything perfectly is as real as a golden unicorn. We all struggle, because parenthood is impossible. None of us know what we are doing, and we wing it everyday. Even our own parent were clueless and we turned out mostly ok, Haha. So great job Moms and Dads! This has been your public service announcement.
