I've seen too many out of state tourists let their children play on the beach, run in and out of the waves, and think nothing of it. Sunny day, lots of people walking up and down. But are there surfers? No. Are the waves fast and crashing hard? Yes. Are the waves forming triangles and V over themselves? Yes. The water is cold. Please. Respect your own life and stay away. If it's a rocky coastline don't go off the trail. The Pacific ALL along California's coast is not to be underestimated. Yes, even in Southern CA. Admire the beauty. Respect nature. Pile perch perfectly poised on the precipice of a pristine kelp forest panorama

Sunbeams burst through the canopy like stained glass, radiating enlightenment in a kelp cathedral. A sunny Saturday is as good a day as any to give thanks for the miracles of oceanic photosynthesizers, from the microscopic to the Macrocystis. Whether the food we eat, the ecosystems we cherish or the air we breathe, the blessings of seaweed are many, and their protection is a worthy offering.
