  I don’t know about you, but from what I gather most people here are not excited to be back at work. At least here in the US. A lot of you had a 4 day weekend, or at least a day off. I’m pretty lucky because I was one of those people that got a 4 day weekend, and didn’t have to work in a retail store. For those people that worked in retail, sorry, that must have sucked.

It’s Monday and that means Hungover

And hark, what is this light beyond the curtain, 

So harsh, so vicious, treading on my eyes? 

I hear the screeching of the spring sparrows, 

The world awakes and here, still, I lie.  

 They sing my name now, in the meadows, 

The lambs, the flowers in full bloom, 

They call to join them for the day is here. 

But the body lies still, in pain, unswooned.  

 Each night I strike my Faustian Bargain, 

For wine, the drink that all consumes, 

For night time revels and sweet caresses, 

For the warm embrace that ends too soon. 

 And oh, my Love, my soul is weary.  I long for the blessed dreams once more. 

For sleep, sweet rest, the mind's easy glide, 

For quiet, that the heart adores.  

 But this is not my fate to be, for look, 

My heart belongs to Mephistopheles.

I didn't know Poetry was so uncool!

So according to http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/the-week-in-data-muslims-comic-books-and-poetry/ only about 7% of Americans read any poetry last year, the Opera is the only activity trailing “poetry reading” according to these stats.

I suppose that this means that those of us who love poems are a bunch of outdated weirdoes, for one I find poetry a lot better than a selfie or facebook, then…
