My husband and I are at our wits end. Seriously. As you may or may not be aware anything medical now-a-days costs and arm and a leg without insurance and even insurance is exhausting to find with this Obamacare shit.
We have insurance, the problem is finding a good dentist. Now, it’s a thousand of wonders why I don’t like doing these things because it seems over 80 percent of doctors/dentists/etc only care about their bottom line dollar.
We’re finding it more and more as we search. We both actually had good dentists until we got new insurance. We had to give them up because they don’t take our new dental and everything costs a fortune when you don’t have coverage. My husband has a tooth that’s killing him and he finally gets in to see a dentist and they tell him he has to get a root canal since the tooth is salvageable.
Root canals are horrible, let me tell you. It’s best to get the tooth pulled instead of going through that misery and you’ll loose the tooth eventually anyway. You’re just prolonging the inevitable. Every one I’ve ever talked to or known who has gotten one has regretted it. Besides that fact it would cost $700 out of pocket for the procedure. Way to fucking much.
So, he calls back and tells them he’d rather have it pulled. They don’t pull teeth. No medical or plausible reason why, just the fact that they don’t pull teeth. He wouldn’t refer him to a ‘surgeon’ that would because the tooth is salvageable and says to reconsider. So, needless to say, we won’t be going back there since what kind of dentist with no medical issues won’t pull teeth? The reason: There’s not enough money in teeth pulling. My old dentist had a medical reason for not pulling teeth. He couldn’t pull teeth anymore because he’d thrown out his shoulder. He was also up there in age. That’s a plausible reason.
So now he’s got another dentist that would do it and they have to look at the tooth and determine when they’ll pull it. My husband’s in so much pain he’s threatening he’ll do it himself if no one else will. At this point, I don’t blame him. I’ve never seen him this miserable.
The hoops you have to jump through.
