A Blade and her Driver || closed
“So it’s ready for its new Driver. Go on Melia.”
Melia swallowed hard, staring at the azure light of the Core Crystal on the pedestal, beckoning her. Her mother’s Core Crystal. The beating in her heart thumped aloud in her ears. Her movements were slow, careful, but filled with purpose.
She took a deep breath. If Melia had the potential, she’ll be a Driver. Like her late mother and half-brother before her. A rarity on itself. Yet even so, the Blade will have no memory. Start over with a clean slate. She wondered why. Deep breath. If she didn’t have the potential, she’ll die. A dangerous gamble all in all.
Tanned digits, braced the glowing stone. Pain rippled through her body like a shockwave, as the Core Crystal’s power surged through her, judging her. Melia grit her teeth, refusing the cry out in pain. More pain surged, forcing her to tighten her grip.
Then..... nothing. The pain ceased. The Core Crystal disappeared, taking it’s form once again.
“Congratulations Melia,” Lorithia’s voice brought her back to reality. “You are now a Driver.”
That was over a month ago. Melia sighed. Finally a day to herself. Still, the reality that she was a Driver now was still surreal to her. Turning around, the teen leaned against the railing, staring at Cloud Sea, hundreds of feet below. A low tide, she noticed.
“I wonder what’s it like?” She asked to no one, despite her Blade nearby. “Being a salvager I mean?”
