𝕏 Platform
I am not sure how many of us know that by now the social media 𝕏 platform is commanding close to 20% of all traffic on social media platforms on the internet. For example, the platform is proven by published research to be the number one social media platform that promotes science & technology research worldwide. This command has deep roots that go back almost two decades ago since the dawn of social media interaction via the internet.
Then, the field was open to many experiments to reach the most viable business model to run platforms sustainably. Initially, it was left to the user's imagination on what is appealing in signing up to a certain platform. Personally, the older name of the platform, Twitter, and the limited letters to convey a message in each of its posts, or “tweets” as they were called, meant that some sort of "bird language" algorithms were involved behind the development of the 𝕏 platform.
Actually, it turned out that this was a powerful and effective model that served to transition the platform from the stage of signing up the critical mass of users to the vigorous pursuit of monetization, which happened successfully later. Along the way, and still to date, the platform is ironing out major and minor wrinkles to transition to a larger and futuristic business model.
However, with the private takeover of Twitter, the company, which facilitated operational streamlining and by recognizing that it had grown out of its limited initial business model, the change of its name to the “𝕏 platform” proved to be a brilliant move that preserved its underlying technology but kept its model open to many valid perceptions and expansion.
It is not that the previous Twitter management did not have the proper plan to grow the company, to the contrary they had promising projects that were very well lined up for the company growth, but their approach did not prioritize the commerce aspects of the company nor did it made clear how it will generate revenues that leads to profitability.
Today, the firm grip of the 𝕏 platform on what is credible and effective on social media posting is unrivaled, while it is safe to assume that its market value has increased appreciably, especially with the advent of its xAI engine Grok as a standalone AI platform that competes in its niche data markets.
