So the story is the same but it’s basically with mermaids, a little bit of inspiration that helped me with this idea is a manga called mermaid saga where the same things sorta happens but has more magic in it unlike this au
-Mermaids aren’t more seen as human but more seen as fish and people believe consuming them gives them great vitality
-They still stay in a restaurant near the ocean but it’s more huge to hold all the captured merms
-The merms are still gutted/prepared like fish but also prepared like you would with meat(surf and turf basically)
-The fish from farms were either traded/sold when they were kids from aquariums or when they were still eggs
-There is still fish cannibalism due to the restaurant owners just tossing in barely enough food into their tank as well as other merms who are close to death/fed as food when the restaurant owners can’t afford/bother to buy merm food
-The fish are either harpooned and reeled in or captured with a large net
-Since the merms are more human size, the chiefs are specially prepared to handle the merms in case they try and kill/drown them
That’s all I have for now for the au but I am open to some headcanons/ideas that can help me divulge more into this au
