For context: this came out in 2011 in Australia. Same-sex marriage would not be legalized until December 2017.

It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldn’t be legalized nation-wide until 2015.

It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldn’t hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)

As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. That’s only ~19% of countries.

This is still revolutionary.

I just saw an anon come into a gif-maker’s ask box and start with the phrase: “I’m trying not to spam your inbox with reblogs, but” and then go on to say how much they love the gifs.

But I’m still stuck on that opening phrase because…what? I am so confused by how people view interactions on tumblr & AO3 these days. Let me make it very clear for anyone who is unsure:

CREATORS WANT YOU TO INTERACT WITH THEIR WORK.

The limit does not exist on how many of their works you can interact with in a certain period.

If you like every fic they’ve ever written? Then feel free to give them all kudos and even leave a comment on every single one if you feel inclined! If you’re going through someone’s blog and you vibe with every post, like/reblog to your heart’s content!

As long as you’re not expecting something back from them or adding a ton of irrelevant comments, it’s not spam! It’s what this is all about!! I’m not even much of a creator and I still feel a huge sense of pride when I see a ton of notifications in a row from a person, as it clearly shows they thought my blog was worth spending time on.

And if for some reason a creator is annoyed by this (unlikely), they can manage their own experience (turn off notifs, not look at their notes, delete the fic, etc) so don’t deprive the majority of creators because of some imagined annoyed person. Fandom is a collaborative effort and we all must participate!

Completed: Kamakura Style: This is the MV for the ED of The Elusive Samurai anime and it's so catchy and the visuals are nonsensical. I had fun with it.

Reborn!: Mr. Rebokku no Ciao Ciao Interview: A DVD special series where Reborn is a magician-like quiz show host and interviews random characters. Just as silly as most of the show and I remembered things about them after so long since finishing the show, so it was all right.

Gamera VS Kozamera: Another crossover with cute characters with Gamera for that movie or short anime, whichever. Just a day out on the town with two kaiju, nbd

Completed: Musha Knight Commando SD: SD Gundam Scramble: The first part was a fun crossover with the three types of SD Gundam getting pulled into a new world to fight aliens was different, but I liked the second part where Sayla is a fantasy warrior princess on a quest to avenge her father.

Pokémon 3: The Movie: This movie was so sad, what... A little girl was going through her grief and had her desires go haywire when her mind was synced with a group of Unown. And Ash and friends were so good to play with her in the form of battles and told her that she wasn't alone... 😭

The Legend of Hei: This was a rare Chinese show I managed to find, and I liked it. I shouldn't have looked into other series in this franchise, because it was listed on MAL as a prequel to two slice-of-life short series (among other things), but it should've been listed as an alternate version. But regardless, the animation was really flowing and the story was good. I was surprised that the original Mandarin version was on Crunchy, too. Not gonna watch the next parts with these comments in mind, though.
