An angry looking neutral face paired with a monotone voice lead to a lot of “Why are you so angry?” comments. Like...dang I wasn’t angry before but I am now.

i fucking hate this.
i wasnt putting emotion into my speech today because it was hard enough getting words to come out of my mouth today, and my mom just HAD to point it out and she said i sounded sad and i had to keep telling her that i wasnt, and even if i was i wouldnt tell her of all people
first she sounded concerned if i was sad or not, then she got mad because i wasnt showing emotion and now i feel bad
because idk if its because im mad at her for pointing it out, mad at myself for putting my guard down, or guilty that i wasnt able to do what she wanted me to and i physically feel sick and on the verge of tears
Banish monotone in your speech! Discover how to add dynamic vocal variety and make your communication more engaging with multi-tone tips.
i can't decide if the list of interview tips on the website of the job i applied for is helpful for neurodivergent people bc it's so specific, or just a bit ableist
Having a monotone voice and an expressionless face really isn't serving me well.
iiaat when your friends say you talk like a robot and call you Google/Wikipedia? I don't get offended by it or anything.
Yep! Autistic people often have very monotone voices that may seem robotic to others. Further, we often collect knowledge and are quick to volunteer what we know which can make us seem like walking Googles.
