Unforch, they didn't film the whole set so The Ringleader is absent. Which is a bummer cause there's a part of the song that Joe always plays by jumping onto, and then steping on, his keyboard (and then he would fall over)

If you wanna get into TVF, I would recomend listening the second half of their first album first (which sounds weird but like, it's a concept piece that flows together)

As for getting into AVE, I think it's worth giving their album listen through at least once. It's got some fun tracts. However, it's.... I mean Will, Mario, and Jon were 19, 18, and 17 respectively when it came out. It sounds very good considering, but they've all grown as musicians since then. (Also should be noted, none of them get money for any of the spotify streams or bandcamp sales)

yeah the venetia fair is one of my favourite bands ever now, and i have to attribute it to you. i probably would've listened to them eventually, but you gave me the push i needed to start. otherwise i would've ended up discovering them a year later, or even further on.

after i received this ask, i listened to ESDTWGIOB and got absolutely obsessed. i have never found an artist that speaks to me as truly has tvf does. i sat on that for a few months (very bad at getting into music).

a few weeks ago, i decided to finally listen to the circus, because with the way my tvf interest was headed, i could not put it off any longer. i put it on, got overwhelmed (as you do), and listened to the whole thing.

it's one of my favourite albums now. my favourite currently, for sure. i literally cannot go a day without listening to it.

so i have a loooooot to thank you for. thank you for the links, thank you for the recs, and thank you for helping me find one of my favourite bands!

oh fuck i gotta talk about death is the poor man's doctor HOLY SHITTTTTT you were right that song is INCREDIBLE. i am so pissed that it's not on spotify. it makes me wonder the direction tvf could've taken if they followed through with the genre that song promised. it's whatever!! im fine about it. what matters is that i love the song and it's so special to me.

also never apologise for the length of the ask! i know it took me so long to answer, but that's my personal brain block talking. i love music so much and i love when people talk about their passions.

My shop is still on #vacationmode while I catch up on things and heal my stomach ulcer but here is a look at the finished display for my #ghostpipe sculpture. This piece is a homage to the little ecosystem at my local park where I found many #monotropauniflora and #russulaceae mushrooms this summer. I used real dried leaves from the park on the base I made for the glass flowers and mushrooms. This piece is meant to spark conversation about the interconnected relationships between plants, trees and #mycorrhizal fungi happening below our feet when we tread in the forest.

OH HEY there sweet, sweet Ghost Pipe, Monotropa uniflora, hanging right in the city of Rochester. happy that the rains have blessed this land with so much moisture every inch of the earth is erupting with fungi and their lush plant friends. it feels good to be surrounded by fungi like when i first began my relationship with them. sadly over the years, it has been drier and drier and less fungal diversity comes out, this year, i saw some old friends, thankfully. more on that next time… you can find me next month in August zipping around, teaching, cooking and creating space. got one more week at the @theluckyflea ! find me there this Sunday! next weekend i’m headed south to @mycofest ! then the following week Im up in the precious #adirondacks helping host the @traditionalknowledgegathering with so many loved ones. Have you ever seen these? This was a first for me. I ran across them while camping in northern Minnesota. I assumed this was a type of fungus, but a Google search revealed that it’s called “ghost plant” (Monotropa uniflora). Apparently this unusual woodland wildflower isn’t super common in most areas so it was cool seeing some in person. They have no chlorophyll so they never turn green. Since they don’t have chlorophyll they can’t produce their own food. Instead, they rely on the nutrients produced by specific species of mushrooms that grow under specific species of trees. If the right mushrooms don’t grow, these plants don’t grow either. This dependence on their host mushrooms makes ghost plants a parasite species. They are also called “Indian pipe” because of their shape. If you pick them the stalks turn black almost immediately which earned them another of their names; the “corpse plant”. They bloom with a single flower on the end of each stalk and bees will pollinate them but they don’t have a fragrance that humans can detect. Purportedly they have a variety of medicinal applications that range from stopping epileptic seizures to fighting gonorrhea and toothaches.
