Flameworked Fish Title: Cotton-White Shine Bright

NEW COLOR!!! I’ve used white before- but not like this! The white I generally use is kind of transparent... it’s hard to explain... the white I had been using was more of a “mostly white” white. This white is SHOCKINGLY white. The first time I saw it used I called it toothpaste white. It’s actually a striking color like amber purple, but it strikes very easily, which is super nice. The funniest part about the white was that it started out such an ugly pattern, but finished in this wonderful solid white. It was also super easy to work with!

My shop is still on #vacationmode while I catch up on things and heal my stomach ulcer but here is a look at the finished display for my #ghostpipe sculpture. This piece is a homage to the little ecosystem at my local park where I found many #monotropauniflora and #russulaceae mushrooms this summer. I used real dried leaves from the park on the base I made for the glass flowers and mushrooms. This piece is meant to spark conversation about the interconnected relationships between plants, trees and #mycorrhizal fungi happening below our feet when we tread in the forest.

I was having some fun the other day playing around making potion bottles with lots of texture and sparkle! I need to get some more corks for these lil guys before they’re ready to go in the shop. 🧪🧙🏼‍♀️ In other news I basically gave myself emotional whiplash going from feeling really up beat and good to depressed and weepy overnight. Hormones can have a big influence on mental health conditions and in my creative storm I forgot that my mensural cycle was on it way. This month it decided to announce itself, not with the usual physical symptoms but with ptsd nightmares and heightened emotions that basically turned me into a tearful blob on Wednesday when I had been so excited to get into the studio again just the night before. Yesterday I felt quite a bit better emotionally but of course thats when cramping and everything else decided to come physically kick my butt instead.
