Stumbled upon an etsy shop that makes miniature replicas of vinyl records and was amazed that they had a Dance Gavin Dance album. Absolutely love this intersection of my two most niche interests

Monst Dolls

So I’ve always been really intrigued by vinyl art dolls, the simplicity of their body designs and how playful they seem is just really appealing to me along with the vintage asian doll vibes, but I wasn’t about to gamble away 300 of my dollars to try one out lmfao.  In come Monst Dolls  As far as I know these are an actual full-on brand, not just some random Aliexpress moment. It seems like they have a storefront on AE and then they also have a section on LulaDoll (great resource for vinyl art dolls) and they also make a vinyl/hard plastic Yo-SD sized doll that I’m really interested in trying.  I’ve checked them out thoroughly and compared with other brands- these dolls aren’t counterfeits or recasted parts, it’s an original sculpt (thanks to @oak23​ for helping me out lol) The dolls come in in a plastic holder inside of a simple cardboard box (photo grabbed from Lula Doll because I forgot to take one)

This is kind of a random post so I didn’t take any pics of mine fresh out of the box, but I got the redhead and the blonde and they both came packaged like this, with their ankles and midsection held down with plastic tags.  The quality is really impressive for such low-priced dolls in this genre! The vinyl is nice quality, hard and matte, with delicate sculpting on the hands and feet. The face paint looks like a combination of spray and decals and the hair is LOVELY high quality nylon. This is how the blonde looks after a quick wash and condition. She had a braid in her hair, but the kinks straightened out within seconds of rinsing with warm water:

The rooting is moderately thick, some space between the plugs on her hairline but her parting is nicely done and the hair lays perfectly.  The face is so adorable, she looks so pouty and sad lol No pic of her outfit but the pieces are very well made and the little bib is separate from the dress.  Haven’t tried a lot of clothing on her, but Nanana Surprise outfits seem to fit (her arms and legs are a little longer but the torso is about the same) and the shoes barely fit but are workable. I haven’t done anything with the redhead but she’s lovely too, my only issue is that the shading on her right brow is kinda messy and over-sprayed so I’ll need to fix that. Anyway these are adorable!
