About to do cast announcements for my new opera Monster's Made - so I painted each of the performers as their characters! I'm very, very pleased with how they all turned out!

Silver Steeped in Scarlet
You said it hurts to hear those words
The pain, I know it too
After all, I heard those words
First thrown at me by you
Those words you wielded like a knife
That sentiment that bled
The poison that you spat at me
That filled my heart with dread
I cannot find the hatred, raw
That a younger me might claim
Yet, too, I can't quite empathize
It's really such a shame
What better blade is there to wield
To take a stab at you
Than the one you left betwixt my ribs
The day you ran me through?
I can't be fucked to take up arms
But I might enjoy the view
It might make me a monster
But, then, what does that make you?

Monsters Made
Day 5
“Why am I here?”
“I need food.”
“That doesn’t explain why I’m here.”
“Because you need to learn.”
~
Cassius manages to finish ‘The Little Prince’ by mid-afternoon. Similar to yesterday, they find Azra to be sleeping. Perhaps Cassius should lay off with the stories for now, lest they become a glorified story teller.
They go to the kitchen and open up the fridge. It was almost empty, they would have to go on a grocery run. They thought about it for a moment.
It’s considerably dangerous to leave Azra alone, but at the same time, Cassius is fairly certain that Azra has developed from intelligence by now. He probably won’t try to escape. Emphasis on probably.
They could also call Gabriel to watch over Azra. They think about that option a bit more before shaking it away. For one thing, Gabe is really busy, especially now. Another thing is that Azra would bully Gabriel. Leaving him with Azra is somehow more dangerous than leaving Azra alone.
Cassius sighs. They grab a nearby notepad and start listing off the things they need to buy. Eggs, fruit (lots of fruit), dairy products and all so on. The list isn’t too long, about 9 or so things to buy. They couldn’t order it either, no, not when people think they’ve died.
Cassius sighs. They’d have to leave Azra alone for sometime. He’s sleeping right now which is good. He’ll probably stay asleep for an hour or so. There’s also the protection wards, so no one is going to break in unless they’re very powerful, or very stupid.
Cassius grabs a light jacket, their wallet and keys. While putting on their shoes, they silently hope that this isn’t going to end poorly.
…
Cassius forgets what it’s like to talk to normal people. The sort that don’t know what blood feels like on their hands. Cassius relearns their manner and puts on innocent eyes. They’re quite aware of mask against their mouth, as it could possibly be the only thing keeping them from being recognized and everything breaking apart.
“Feeling under the weather?” The cashier asks while scanning their items.
“A little,” Cassius lets out a little awkward laugh. Purposely awkward, of course. “Must’ve caught it from my mom. But someone has to get the groceries, you know?”
The cashier physically softens at the fib.
Cassius also forets how easy it is to lie to normal people.
…
They place the groceries in the fridge, humming a soft tune. They close the fridge once they're done. Cassius goes downstairs to check on how Azra fairing. Hopefully well, hopefully not out of his cell.
Cassius takes a peak and sees that the small flesh blob is sleeping. They smile and head back up stairs, glad that nothing went wrong.
They plop back on their couch and turn on the T.V., watching how Micheal makes another inspirational speech about persistence and patience. It makes for good comedy.
