New Pet

(Inspired by @howlingday 's series "RuJaGunCon")

Jaune: Neo!!! NEO!!!!

Jaune:*walking along the Exotic Pet convention they decided to visit*

Jaune: Where could she be.....I took my eyes off her for one seco-WOAH!!

Jaune: *inches from its face* N-Nice Dragon.....

Neo: *on its back, grinning* "Hey sweeTie."

Jaune: Neo, what is....this?

???: *snorts in Jaune's face*

Neo: "IT's a RaThalos. I goT him foR a sTeal."

Jaune: .....what's a "steal"?

Neo: "I caN'T Tell you ThaT uNTil we'Re maRRied, TheN you caN'T be called To TesTify agaiNsT me."

Jaune: Neo, we've been over this, you can't just-*yelps*

Rathalos:*sniffing Jaune's belt, finding a packet of Beef Jerky*

Neo: "JauNe, give VegeTa a TReaT."

Jaune: you seriously named this that?

Neo: "IT was eiTheR ThaT oR "RaTha", aNd ThaT Name souNds dumb."

Jaune:.....okay fair

Neo: "So......caN we keep him? pleeeeeeease?!?" *giving baby-doll eyes*

Vegeta:*somehow doing the same*

Jaune:......*sighs* what's the worst that could happen?

Neo: *cheering for herself* "come oN, I waNNa show you how I goT him To Take iNsTRucTioN wiThouT me TalkiNg!"

Jaune: hold on Neo-

Vegeta:*picking him up and taking off*

Jaune: WAAAAAAAAIIIITTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!

Wanted to draw something wholesome so I drew young Simon and Aurora hatching one of Aurora's monsters, Scuttles the Nerscylla! She was the first monster Aurora hatched himself, she's fire-aspect and based on my main in Monster Hunter Stories 3. Scuttles carried me through that game, I love her so much.

Artwork wip of my new Monster Hunter Stories (2) oc. (Not in the same world as my other oc)

Haku's main monster is an Abyssal Lagiacrus called Zanka. Zanka specifically has a dive mechanic, so be able to explore underwater areas.

Kinship stone shares same colour as his eye. The armour isn't any know in-game armour, but a combo/fusion between several different armour sets. e.g. Cheval in mhs2 has custom blue ratha armour. So I wanted to give Haku custom armour.

He's not the main protag in the world, but travels alongside them. Though occasionally he splits off to do his own thing.

Very short version of his story:

Born in Lulucion (Lamure) to a hunter family, he didn't want to be a hunter, due to having an intense fear of monsters. He wanted to do research on things over actually deal hands on with monsters. Due to reasons he ended up exploring a lot of ruins, making him decide he wants to be someone who learns about ancient civilizations. And due to a particularly rough patch with his family he got into a boat and tried to sail to Pomore Gardens (for the Felyne Village), but got caught up in a storm and ended up at Hakolo Island.

Haku was after a few days found by a scout of Mahana Village and was taken there and Chief Gara took Haku under his wing and raised Haku. Haku didn't want to become a rider, but would still listen to any teaching Kayna gave him, mainly out of politeness. Haku wasn't allowed out of the village much without someone to protect him, or a monstie (which Haku didn't want). (In this time he also gets along with the main protag, haven't made an oc to fill that role yet)

Due to boredom Haku went to go explore the beach (he had snuck out the village) where he had first washed up since he remembered seeing some ruins there that he wanted to check out and raid for any interesting items. He ended up finding a discarded kinship stone, and then got attacked by a Green Nargacuga, forcing him to hide in the ruins.

The oceans tide also began to rise, which Haku knew it would drown him since the ruins will be taken underwater. During his escape he found an egg. And accidentally hatched it (see post about how i think kinship stones work) via the stone unintentionally shining on the egg.

The monster was an Abyssal Lagiacrus, Haku remembering Kayna's teachings about always taking care of a monster, no matter the situation, and the fact he kinda forced this egg to hatch, not wanting to leave a baby to fend for itself, picked up the Lagi and escaped the situation with it.

He was obviously told off for sneaking off and getting into a dangerous situation, but most punishment was avoided due to everyones confusion about the Lagi. The whole entire time the Lagi had never stopped staring at Haku. Which made Haku feel bad when he was deciding what he wanted to do with it. Kayna suggested to him that he could use the Lagi to explore underwater ruins, and be one of the first few people to do so. Which would allow Haku to work on his dream job while covering an area that was yet to be explored.

So Haku ended up keeping and naming the Lagi, Zanka. Haku would train with Zanka and train to dive, hold his breath and learn about the underwater world.

The main story events take place a year or so later. But I will talk about that when I finish his ref. His age is 15-16, main protag is around 14-15 (basically a year younger than Haku).
