Day 8 Matthew Chapters 27-28 Key verse: 28:19: ‘All authority...has been given to me - therefore go.’ Today’s truth is a commission from Jesus. He sends us out to baptize and teach others to obey His commands. A high calling, and words we may feel like we struggle to live up to. Yet notice the flow of these verses: because of Jesus’ authority therefore we go. Throughout our adventure through Matthew Jesus has called us into the Kingdom of Heaven and to all sorts of challenges. How have the past 8 days through Matthew been? Each and every challenge that Jesus calls us into comes with the reassurance ‘surely I am with you always’ (28:20). Our dare today needs space. Strip out half an hour just to be with Jesus. Maybe visit the PrayerBase after the 7pm service, or gather friends and family together after Sunday lunch to be silent and acknowledge His presence. Then, and only after the waiting, ask Jesus where he wants you to go –are you prepared for His answer?

Day 7 Matthew Chapters 24-26
Key verse: 25:21: ‘You have been faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things.’
The truth in this passage is pretty radical. Jesus calls us not to worldly success, but to Kingdom faithfulness. As we read about Jesus’ entrapment and trial, we also see Him teaching his disciples to be good stewards (25:14-30), to look after the least (25:31-46) and to wait up and pray with Him (26:36-46). He asks His disciples then and now to be faithful, to use our talents, treasures and time by giving them over for Kingdom use. What talents has God given you? What skills and attributes do you use? What gifts do you bury? Jesus is calling us to use all our God given gifts faithfully. Today the dare is to take some time with a friend or with your 2to4 to talk through what role you have to play in the Kingdom of Heaven, and what gifts you have to offer. Where are you hiding and holding what could be used by Jesus? Take your diary with you, and cross out the commitments that stop you giving and serving, and take up the opportunities to use your abilities and time faithfully. Spend time praying and asking Jesus – what do you want me to do with the gifts Father God has given me?
