Monty may have died during the production of season 3, but he actually left enough material to cover volumes 4 and 5

I know, Ive heard that Miles and Luna even knew the ending, so i think the issue wasn't with coming up with plot, but how exactly the plot would play out, all the dialogues and whatnot. Monty was also in charge of combat animation and this part of the show was also struggling a lot without him. Noone on the crew could time the combat just as well with the music as he did in the beginning, it only improved recently, with new additions to the team thanks to financial success of RWBY and their other shows (when they could afford to expand the crew some more).

Someone remade Montyoum’s first big animation, Haloid. This remake took 2 years and it’s really good. I’m sure Monty would have loved it
