Berlermo, Serquel, Monver || Say You Won't Let Go watch in 1080p!
What do you think of these ships/couples in LCDP : Serquel, Helermo and Monver?
Serquel
I love them. I honestly love them. I don't actively ship them the way I do with Berlermo, but I enjoy their interactions and sometimes I come up with an idea and I'm like Huh, I wonder if there's a Serquel ff like that. If anyone knows any good Serquel ffs (preferably with established Berlermo as a side ship) please share!
Monver
Again, love them. A little bit less than Serquel, but still very much. I love their interactions, tho I don't always understand why all the drama is there (I mean, I understand that Pina needs drama, but still, it's often stupid from the characters' POV)
Helermo
You know when in fantasy TV shows someone says Cristo and all demons are going nuts? That's me with Helermo. Say this name, heck, whisper it, and I'll go fucking crazy and will have to restrain myself from ripping your head off.
It's just so SO bad and makes no sense at all. I fucking hate it. *shivers*
If it becomes an endgame, I'll spend the rest of my life on writing fanfics about how Martin makes Helsinki unhappy. Because he would, he absolutely would and, moreover, I don't believe that Helsinki could make Martin happy as well.
So, to sum up:
Serquel: big yes
Monver: yes
Helermo: can only tolerate it as friends
Sergio's not gonna die, he is needed for a possible re-opening of the show. Palermo is too obvious (and that matters to pina), Raquel was already fake-killed. OTOH, Denver: has a lot more protagonism this season, with flashback and all, he is a universally beloved character (always a good candidate to kill), Jaime Lorente has been seen in some town with pedro and alba filming (prob flashback but why with those 2?). 90% sure he's the dead (if anyone).
Honestly, the only thing that would truly surprise me at this point if they indeed don't kill anyone next volume. Would be a move™, I'll give them that. But yes, I do think that they'll go with Denver too, and it has been foreshadowed to be honest. Doesn't change how much I dislike and genuinely disagree with that choice though. I don't think the actor would be up for a spin-off honestly, but anyway Sergio only has the element of surprise and the parallel with his father (the show is too fond of parallels lmfao) not much else to make his death a good choice.
And as you said, Palermo is predictable. And I imagine, with how politically aware™ the show is this season, they might also try to avoid the 'bury your gays' trope.
The thing is, most of what you and I just listed are just meta-textual reasons. I'm not saying those reasons have no place at all when considering writing choices, of course not, but I do disapprove, generally speaking, of writers taking this too much into account when writing their finales.
Sergio would be shocking to a more extent than the others, but that doesn't make him any more a good choice. Denver would guarantee as much of an angry and frustrated reaction as Nairobi (Although I honestly don't dislike Nairobi's death as much as everyone else. I thought it was well-played to an extent) and would have a strong emotional response plus parallels with Moscu, but to me it would be very misplayed.
I wasn't really talking about what I expect from the show as much as what I personally believe is a good writing choice. I most expect Denver to die, but I think Palermo is the most fitting choice.
I'll be the first to admit how clumsily and weirdly the show did Monica's storyline this volume, but I still stand by my view that it was definitely a great choice to have her arc go there, and I prefer having it messed-up like this rather than them not having put it at all.
I was indeed actually wondering if Denver was saying those things because of his mother! I don't remember if he actually says the things you mentioned, but probably he did.
The other thing that I most dislike about this issue is that, for me, it almost feels like she didn't make the choice really by herself. She probably chose to abort thinking about Arturo's feelings and not her own. But since she makes the decision to keep the child since she is hopeful that she will be happy with him and Denver, that's actually a nice thing for me.
But still, some characters seemed to be against her choice and wanting to change her mind too, like if I remember well Nairobi gives her a weird look, I don't know if it is a disapproving one though so I might be jumping into wrong conclusions, when she tells her she plans to abort. And the entire Denver scene I talked about before. And Andrés and congratulating her for giving up and Raquel, though she didn't know the entire story so I give her a pass, telling her she could be happy with her child (I don't remember this scene very well actually)
Thinking more about it, I think this bothers me a lot because I would probably have gone insane if it happened to me.
If I ever rewatch the scene, I'll come back to confirm or deny lmfao.
I agree. I definitely think that aborting the baby wasn't something she wanted to do for herself, but maybe because of complete discouragement from Arturo and putting him first. But I do think she wanted to have it, she was pretty happy when she told him in the first episode.
And oh it's hilarious how everyone seemed to have an opinion about the situation. The banda just acted like they were in a real-life reality show lmfao. I don't think it was a disapproving look, if I remember correctly it seemed an sad sorta of understanding look. Like it is funny how every character's opinion came from their situations rather than hers. Denver, as I said, was having a mommy issues moment, Nairobi both knows what it's actually like to raise a child by yourself and what is like to lose one (hence the understanding), and Raquel is probably in a moment in life where she tells this to herself all day wrong, she knows that it's alright to raise a child by yourself and that you could both be happy. And I actually like that they did this and the characters didn't just speak in social media activism language, but were very real-life-people like about it. Messy and coming from personal experiences, desires or failures. Anyway, Andrés on the other-hand was just going around giving his unprompted opinions about everything to anyone who had the misfortune of just standing there lmfao. How I imagine Andrés' ghost is a bbc Ghosts Fanny, just going around disagreeing and telling people his opinions about what they are doing with their lives lmfao god this idiot I love him.
Anyway, AGREE! Would hate to have this happen to me lmfao. Would absolutely go insane.
