Inktober 10/5: Build Pt. 2

Kharon’s first wrong move that day was being a general nuisance and making crude jokes in orcish to Gryida. Kharon’s second wrong move was deciding to relax on the beach beneath an umbrella instead of swimming, which lead to him falling asleep. Now, it wasn’t difficult for him to fall asleep out in the open, he slept outdoors all the time, so naturally lying on a blanket over warm sands was more than coaxing enough for Kharon to doze off.

Gryida, who was always looking for an opportunity to make Kharon suffer, in ways that weren’t actually harmful but were just enough to be upsetting without really doing any damage. Today the most damage would be sand in uncomfortable places as she began to bury Kharon, and form a small city of sand castles on top of him. She had managed to get him completely covered by the time he finally started to wake up.

He was bleary at first, eyes blinking slowly awake, but then opened wide when he tried to lift his hand to brush some hair out of his face but couldn’t. He tried to look at his hand but all he could see was sand. He would have flinched, but he couldn’t move a muscle, so he shouted.

“What the fuck?! Who did this?!”

Gryida, more than pleased by this reaction, snickered and responded. “Maybe it was the sand guardian.”

Kharon recognized Gryida’s voice instantly, but the meme was too enticing not to respond properly. “The guardian of the sand?”

“Yeah, you know, Posideon quivers before him?”

“Fuck off!”

This was enough to make Gryida burst out laughing as Kharon scowled up at the bottom side of the umbrella.

“Was this completely necessary?”

“Absolutely!”

“Gods damnit. Can you let me out now?”

“Nope, but just so you know, high tide is about to come in, so good luck! Bye Kharon!” Gryida got to her feet, dusted herself off and leaned over Kharon so he could see her grin before leaving him to suffer.

“WAIT! GRYIDA! DAMNIT, COME BACK!!”

So, @moofrog had been stuck on what to do for build, and I suggested they draw Gryida building a sand castle, and then they decided that yeah, she would build a sand castle, on top of Kharon, resident rood boy. I was tempted to write a sister piece for my own “Build” inktober, but decided with something different. I still wanted to write it though!! So here!!!

Lumii....a whimsalot fan summoner inspired by @moofrog and @maladroitmeta4

Eager to prove that whimsun and whimsalots were as capable, determined, and powerful as any other monster Lumii dragged his reluctant brother Lailum into the study of magic and summoning until one day powerfully dark summon of Lumii’s own design became too much for the little monster to handle...it collapsed in on itself as he recalled it, sucking in everything nearby including the summoner’s younger sibling.

Lumii has since spent his years desperately studying summons and magic, even attempting to create summons that could turn back the hands of time to undo his mistake and get back what he has lost.

He mostly specializes in summons of light, as he believes his last option is to enter the darkness he created and find his brother himself....

Would you rather experience going into space, or live in a world of your favorite video game?

I would go into space, cause then i won’t have to leave my friends behind going into a video game. It’s my dream to one day visit the International Space Station :)

I figure also, it’s a little safer than living in the Fallout universe :x

A parody of Blue Lips. Rewritten to tell the story of a pumpkin and his friends and the fire he feared and came to befriend. Inspired by the RP writings of the chat group run by @sushinfood! 

Lyrics: The Highwayman fell down and thought, “God, not again, they'll see!” The fires in his bones arose And began to seethe And all the SOULs of all his friends began shining in a flame burning white

For mine, I submitted the pieces I was the most proud of in a variety of materials and mediums. Maybe you can see if the school you want to go to does a portfolio check? They can give you advice in person.

sadly the school is in ny, but i plan on calling tomorrow morning. i plan on showing off ink, color pencil and both oil and water color paints :O

I never had to submit a portfolio for college, but I know that when it comes to submitting you definitely want variety. If you have more than digital art, show that you have a handle on traditional art. Provide life drawings if you have. Any art of backgrounds and drawings of non-organic things (because 9/10 portfolios have just people, animals, creatures in it and no background art). Portfolios are there to show what you are capable of, and your level of skill.

oooh! that’s really helpful, thank you! the school i’m applying says to keep digital to a minimum, so i’ll defiantly take your advice!

depending on exactly how many pieces you need to submit, make it at least around half of stuff from life (still lives, portraits, natures studies, etc.) and over half of original work in your designated area. you can use fanart, but really only go for it if you think it's something that no one would know

that’s good to keep in mind, but i’ll avoid fanart though.
