I actually loved Hawkgirl’s screech every time she went to battle. It’s fun when they’re fighting the kaiju and stuff, but towards the end of the movie you realize how scary it would be to have a winged person weilding a giant mace coming at you with this ear splitting screech, and I love it.

I’m glad they didn’t make Guy completely stupid or useless, and especially, that he does care about doing good. Yeah he was his usual self but you can really tell that he knows what he’s doing and that he’s confident for a reason, especially in a part towards the ending where his mere presence deters an army (along with some helping hands). This is peak Guy Gardner characterization.

A visual parallel I have noticed throughout SW is the image of a Palpatine goading his new apprentice to kill a defenseless person. He does it with Dooku and Yaddle, Anakin and Dooku, and finally Luke and Darth Vader (Anakin). Each time he encourages them to do something that goes against their morals (killing a friend, a defenseless person, or their father) and the choice they make is telling to who they will become in the future. Luke is the person to break this cycle when he refuses to kill his father after seeing Vader’s mechanical hand. He looks to his own hand and realizes that to destroy his father is to become him. He holds fast to his ideals in the face of Palpatines attempts to change them. It’s a nice way to keep consistency with Palpatine’s character and form of manipulation.

Other folks want to see their favorite characters fall in love and go to college and all that great stuff, but I want to see my favorite characters get haunted by ghosts and live in haunted houses.
