Vamptober 2020 - Day 31 Finale: Moon Blaze

Closing out this year with my own bat, Moon Blaze! Defender of the downtrodden, fortress for the forsaken, soft-spoken savior of the spurned. Captain of the Blood Guard and founder of the Argent Sanctuary for unaffiliated vamponies and vampony allies. Blazie was originally intended to take over as a main character for my story blog, but she slotted herself somewhere else important, instead. 

Thank you everyone who sent in a volunteer to be drawn this year! I couldn’t draw everyone who responded, though I’m so glad to see so many engage into my vampire shenanigans again this Vamptober! Hope you’ve had as much fun seeing all these fangfaces as I had drawing them!  Till next year! c:

What are the regenerative capabilities of vampires? Can you regenerate from any injury? Can a town keep eating chunks off you that will regenerate endlessly, and the town will never go hungry? You can end starvation! And does the same thing go for your blood? Can they keep pumping blood out of you to always have something to drink, and put you in an irrigation canal while keeping your wounds permanent to keep watering the crops? Could you flood the world?

^ In Everfree: Kat: “See, that is why I say to never underestimate the ingenuity of mortals. They can forever come up with stranger and stranger schemes to baffle us with. Still sure you want to be here, moonbat?”Blaze: “I was unaware of what I would be subjecting myself to.”Duke: “It’s not normally this way, Moon, my dear. This is the weirdest it’s ever been.”

^ In Canterlot:Sonar: “What in Celestia’s name kind of question IS this?!”Justice: “Pops, y’can lay off me and vampire blood now. This thing blows my behavior completely outta the water.”

((Consider the entire group successfully caught completely off-guard! I LOVED doing all the expressions for this answer! xD))

Tells use about Moon Blaze

Moon Blaze is the first pony that Thorn Oakheart turned vampire after the fall of Nightmare Moon and the Flight of the Four. She's always been the one to put herself between danger and someone else, the protector. But for all her fiery spirit, she wasn't a match for bandits that attacked her family's traveling caravan and left her dying on the road.

Oakheart came upon the scene and, seeing this small batpony still clinging to life as it slowly slipped from her grasp, balanced the inequity that was her spirit and her body. By making her the first Oakheart newblood. She awakened the pupil of the Earth Pony Lunar Councilor, and under him she would learn about being vampire, and what carrying such a cursed blessing meant.

Blazie, a couple centuries after Turning, founded the Argent Sanctuary and established the Blood Guard to protect it, as her way of saying that she was ready to be on her own as a vampire. The Four and their youngbloods were welcome there until the Progenitors decided to wander off alone in their advanced ages. Blazie has kept the gates open to any vampire who needs a home or protection since, as long as they abide by the Argent Tenets. Which is basically just "Be civil and don't kill on Sanctuary grounds. Don't give me reason to lay hooves on you or kick you out."

Moon Blaze was intended to take over on my story blog, but she decided that this was her story instead of supplanting pony!Katarina. So she's the mom-friend vampony! The momma bat. Who can just as easily destroy with an "I'm not upset, just disappointed," as she can with a backward kick or swing of her sword.

Completed Commission~Flat Colors (2 OCs)

It’s not often I get to draw my own OCs in a commission! Commissioned by @theamishpirate / @asksandyshores, from an AU for their character Sandy Shores where Mr. Shores has found himself the spawn of vampony guard captain Moon Blaze. And currently taking a well-earned snooze just before the dawn breaks, right under the wing of his watchful maker and mentor~

Let's go with Rori and Moon Blaze. I think they might have some interesting interactions if they crossed paths.

Moon Blaze is like... A very wholesome mombat vampony. Very matronly. So if she and Rori were to meet, it would seem almost like Blazie is trying to gain the trust of a feral cat. And in a way, she is. Rori's always wary of other vampires, and Blazie would be no exception.

But with a bit of time and always a warm smile from the bat, Rori would be able to sense that there is no duplicitous intent in Blaze, thereby opening up enough to approach of her own accord. And eventually, Moon Blaze would offer a permanent residence in the Argent Sanctuary for the rogue. Whether or not Rori would accept the offer for longer than a month or two remains to be seen.

SO! Moon Blaze has decided she will be attending Pony Prom 2019! Is there anyone who should like to accompany the lovely Lady of the Argent Night Sanctuary?

Something that had been on my mind since this doodle, but the anthro hadn’t been with me since then to render what I saw in my head. Until now! It’s @phoenixswift‘s grumpy bat warrior Violet Rose vs. Blood Guard Captain Moon Blaze~ From my understanding Vi enjoys sparring, and so does Moon Blaze. 

Blaze only has a chainmail tunic, and matching shinguards and bracers on over her off-duty uniform. Relatively light compared to Vi’s plates and claw gauntlets.  Armor is a challenge! xD More so converting hoof weapons to gauntlets. The chainmail was interesting to do too, and I wish I’d had the brush that an older version of Krita had, but ah well. Improvisation!
