I got to look at moon rocks and meteorites while Artemis II was making their way around the moon. I wanted to work for nasa as a kid but gave up on that dream as my chronic illness got worse. This is likely as close as i'll get. But it makes me so happy to know theres people out there who genuinely love earth and want to go to the moon and back to understand it and protect it.

Don't Starve's Rock Lobsters are very cool. But they could be cooler, so i gave them a Dietary Dimorphism.

Basically, they'll change apperance, if around a different enviorment and having to consume more specific mineral.

Also yes, ice isn't a mineral, just added it for consistancy and fun.

I own a literal piece of the moon. Because of the lack of seismic activity, this is older than literally any rock that is native to the Earth -- somewhere in the vicinity of 4.4 billion years, versus 4 billion for the oldest Earth rocks. About 40 million years ago, an asteroid impacted the moon, around the Mare Crisium.

It could've been any one of the millions of asteroids that have impacted there -- we don't know the size or precise location -- but we know it was in this area. Whatever it was, tonnes of material were ejected from the moon.

Much of this would fall back to the surface of the moon, but some of it? That went elsewhere. Some of it's in space still, but some of it hit the earth. One meteorite, classified as NWA 11788, fell in the deserts of Mali somewhere between 4000 and 20,000 years ago.

In 2017, an amateur meteorite hunter found it:

It was purchased by a private collector, then sent to the University of New Mexico for analysis, where it was confirmed to be of lunar origin, with subsequent studies doing complex chemical analysis to, among other things, determine where it likely was ejected from.

And now, after millions of years, I have a rock that is literally older than any made here on earth. I can hold it in my fucking hand. That ... is just mindblowing.

AU summary idea: Bocchi the Rock x Sailor Moon. Hitori is the most socially awkward princess of the moon imaginable.

Series: Sailor Moon x Bocchi the Rock! AU Criteria: Hitori is the sister of Princess Serenity, and she has to somehow survive her social anxiety. AU title (optional): Moon Rocks

Hitori had always admired her sister, especially since she always made time for her. So finding out that 1) she was Sailor Moon, and 2) they were all going to die in an invasion, it was a somewhat eventful gala.

After being reborn, she finds herself isolated and withdrawing. She feels she is missing someone, and then she meets Usagi Tsukino in Juuban Municipal Junior High School. Along with Naru Osaka they support and encourage her gently to be more outgoing.

Eventually, Usagi encourages her to join a band after listening to her play guitar. She finds herself enjoying the musicianship, but hates performing or talking in public.

She is caught in a Youma attack once, and to encourage Sailor Moon, she begins playing a song to encourage her. Somehow the music summons a bubble of protection around her and the band, and those that join in singing (give or take a few feet per person). As well as boosting the powers of the Senshi.

This of course, draws more attention to her, and she finds herself caught in more and more negaverse schemes, but Usagi keeps encouraging her, and her new friends point out that being in the band is possibly the safest place to be, so while the attention is not her favorite thing, she does what she can to help protect others and save her idol.

No, it's not romantic love, but she does love Usagi and Sailor Moon in a special way. She finds out about the former life, and realizes her love is very sisterly.
